She sure looks cleaner and softer...more natural looking. She even moves more natural. I suppose what ever one prefers is what's best. 😊 You look absolutely gorgeous !
I’ve heard great things about Silicone mix Bambu conditioner for every once in awhile and for every person that uses wig shampoo there is one that swears by fabric softener🤪. Steaming definitely revitalizes ends 👍🏻.
I did the fabric softener a couple of times and never again. I didn’t notice anything different. Now, I use either Estetica, Jon Renau or Belle Madame (I think). Basically, whatever synthetic products I have on hand. I feel like they all work.
Love the wig. It truly looks so natural and Beautiful on you. Definitely your color! So happy you are showing your wigs in the outside light. So important to be able to get the true colors and all the colorful blends of the wig so you can clearly see what it looks like. The best light ever is sunlight. Thank you for your video look forward to many more :-)
Lighting and showcasing the color of wigs is tough and the most important thing we all want to see before buying a wig. Thank you for your kind words and for watching my video!
And thank you for taking the time to reply back to me. Again your lighting is gteat. But just that the outside light is also helpful. I think especially where red is involved. So so hard to get a decent view of those colors LOL. Have a great day keep the videos coming.
Wow! What a difference the wash made! Thanks so much for the before and after! I too shy away from washing. I've had some that never went back to the way I expected. That style looks amazing on you by the way!!! Love your videos!
Sometimes I just use the fabric softener method without rinsing. Other times I use woolite (the most gentle one) which I rinse and follow with the fabric softener soak. I really prefer those over any of the wig products that I have tried.
So glad I watched this fantastic video from start to finish! Thank you so much for the candour and information. This wig looks great on you - cut, colour ... everything. I like how you put the photos of the other wigs when you talk about them. I bought the Flirt Alert (Raquel Welch) but find it too short and it also feels quite flat (not enough volume or hair) and a little small - probably more suited to an elfin/pixie faced person. I wore it for 4.5 wks in a row and some of the fibres were looking a bit dry, so the last time I washed it, I used the Beautimark shampoo (not mad about the fragrance) + gentle fabric softener (diluted, no rinse) + Jon Renau's leave-in spray conditioner (when wig's still wet), followed by (when wig's dried) Jon Renau's Detangler. Now, the fibres look restored, but I don't feel they have that out-of-the-box lightness/bounce about them. Mind you, they haven't, for some time. Might try the tips from the comments below (Janean G and Julie Sprik) You've convinced me to order Soft and Subtle!
Thank you! And thank you for all the information about washing and taking care of your wig! I love hearing what other people do. Let me know how you like Soft & Subtle!
I was very excited to see you had posted another video. I really enjoy watching them, in fact you inspired me to go ahead and finally order my Mila, my very first wig. I grappled with the taboo of wearing a wig (which is really riduculous I think) and wore it out for the first time a couple of days ago. I have also shot some footage of it with a plan of starting another channel perhaps. Anyway, I really love how you address all the basic concerns of a new wig wearer in you videos, it's been such a help. And when I realised how nice I looked it my Mila I ordered Watch Me Wow this morning too! Thanks for your lovely videos, they are my favourites at the moment. Isn't it amazing how the colour of a wig can look so dramatically different depending on the lighting, it neve ceases to amaze me. Anyway, thanks for your input you've really encouraged me. xx Karina
A Maker's Dream KARINA! I feel so happy for you! Thank you for all your kind words. I am thrilled for you to have found some great styles. I HOPE you start a channel for your wigs. I love watching wig videos!
I love this wig, especially on you. I just found your channel and really enjoy watching you. I’m looking for my first wig so I think I should go short like my bio hair. I will think about this one later on. My measurements are going to be challenging I think. My circumference is 23 in. (large) My other two measurements are ultra petite Ear to ear is 11.5 in. Front to back is 12 in. If and when I go for Soft and Subtle do you think I could do the petite/average? I know the large would be too big in some areas but the average may be too small. Do you have any extra room in the cap? I’m starting to feel discouraged before I start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!
Hi there! I understand being nervous trying to find your first wig! I do not like to give advise on how a wig might fit you because I would feel TERRIBLE if you purchased one and it didn't fit. :( One thing to remember is you can return a wig (Make sure to check the return policy! Some sales do not allow returns.) I agree with you that you should get a style that is as close to your current style, or your most recent style. My first wig was in the lower price points. I think it was $130. You can find wigs with even lower prices now. I was VERY nervous to pay any more so I started there and worked my way up. You get what you pay for, so a lower price wig is most likely going to be a basic cap and just lower quality all around, BUT it gives you an idea on how a wig fits! If you have a local wig shop in your area, you can pop in there and try some wigs on too. My circumference is 22.5", Ear to Ear 12.5" and front to back 12.5". Soft and Subtle fits me very comfortably. I don't think I have any extra room though. I also have some bio hair. Sorry I am not giving you a concrete yes or no on the fit. I just don't want to tell you the wrong thing. Our heads are all so different!
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me in such a detailed way. I’m beginning to understand how complicated this wig wearing can be, especially when it comes to size. The 10% of us that fall outside the average cap size definitely have more of a challenge. I will take your advice about finding a wig shop where I can try a few on. I think trial is the only way to be assured of a good fit. I think custom wigs may be an option as well, albeit an expensive one. I know you can’t say for sure what will work for me but I really appreciate you trying so hard to help me. I subscribed and will continue to watch your videos. You are so informative and such a pleasure to watch. Again many thanks…..❤
Thank you so much for this great video & how to train this. I'm new to wigs & this is the wig I want! I think I could train this with the help you provide with the contour creme. Very pretty on you. Did you use a hot air brush on it?
I have the same issue when I wash my wigs, that they never feel the same! I think the initial manufacturers silicone coating is removed with the initial washes so the fibres start feeling a tad drier each time. I have watched some other videos and other wig wearers say they use the cysterwigs silicon spray. I unfortunately can't find that in Australia to test it out. I am waiting for my soft and subtle in the post next week in Honey Pecan - I can't wait! Love this colour on you most as well as the RW strawberry shade... so gorgeous and natural xx
Kim Stamiris Thank you, Kim! That’s exciting that soft and Subtle is on its way! I have some of that silicone spray. I didn’t try putting any on this one. I should do that. I often forget about that stuff!
I'm enjoying watching your reviews-really like your believability & you know just which wigs are beautiful on you! THIS ONE! I am thinking it just may be my very 1st wig! I have bright copper red Bio hair & Olive skin. I think this color may not look too light & great on me. So, don't have any idea what C color to get. Do you know what color-(red??)might look brighter like a Copper or Bright Red RED?? I can't tell especially now that my hair has alot of grey that I color red. It's not pretty if it's too dark. Burgundy looks way to?dark/fake on me. I just trust your opinion cause you are so believable. You're my favorite reviewer now & I thank you!! Keep it. UP!☝
Hey Stacy. I was hoping to get your opinion on whether Zinnia & Soft & subtle might be good sister styles. They look pretty similar yo me. Love my Zinnia but have not tried S&S & it’s a little less expensive so thought might be good for every day. TIA :)
Ooooh good question!. Hmmm they are quite a bit different in person...cap, hair texture. BUT as far as length and overall look/style, I'd say they ARE pretty close. I actually like the style of S&S better! Zinnia is super cute but Gabor has a more comfortable cap for my head and I can get a little more lift due to the texture of the hair fibers on S&S. I had to steam them both off my forehead. Great Question!
I’m interested in this wig but worried about the lace front ( never owned a lace front) Does it feel itchy? But I love this flowy, swingy, style. I have just used the fabric softener wash which is just soaking the wig for around 10-15 mins and NO RINSE at all. Just squeeze water out, towel press and hang upside down to dry. They feel soft ( i just have synthetic not heat friendly) I have heard Gabor wigs have somewhat “drier” fibers so maybe why they don’t feel like others. I love this wig one you and looks so natural!!
Gale Taylor hi, new to wigs I have some lace front some not, i do have some Gabor lace front (I have this one also) and I have to say I love them better , they don't bother me and look way more natural.
I happen to have 2 Gabor Soft n Subtle wigs, both in Av-Lg. One is in Shaded Honey Pecan & one is in Shaded Sunkissed Beige. The lace has never felt itchy and is quite realistic in appearance on both. I, too, do the fabric softener wash. I've only wore the Shaded Sunkissed Beige one once though because the color doesn't suit my complexion.
I use cool water with regular shampoo for human hair...just let the wig soak 10-15 mins in "shampoo water." Rinse and soak in clear water about the same. The purpose: cleanse the products off the fibers and that's what shampoo is designed to do. My wigs look great! 💙💛💚
No, not straight fabric softener. I didn't measure. Just a couple tablespoons, maybe? I actually quite doing the fabric softener and have been using Belle Madame's shampoo and conditioner. I have heard others rave about Estetica's line as well.
Hi, I was watching your review on soft and subtle, can you tell me what size you bought. My head is 22.5 so I was thinking I need to buy it in large size. I was in the process of buying one from someone on Facebook but hers is in the petite /average size so now I’m confused as to which size I should buy. In your video you mentioned your head is the same size as mine 22.5
Hi there! Gabor’s Large cap was too big for me. So, I buy whatever their regular size is. I didn’t realize it was petite/average, but whatever it is, that fits me great. I bought Runway Waves in large and had to send it back.
You put into words what I've been feeling about certain styles and colours. I have some heads that require me to really step up the personal grooming (its like the hair demands a lot of makeup lol)....'look at my bad self' haa haa I noticed you have a Henry Margu in 8/27/33H (I have Jules in this colour) ..how does it compare to Gabors chocolate caramel?
Catherine Lundgren Hi Catherine! Great question about those two colors! I’ll pull my Henry Margu out and get back to you. Are you on Instagram? Or any of the wig Facebook groups?
Catherine Lundgren Nevermind my question about Instagram! We’ve been talking on Instagram! Sheesh. I’ll post som pictures on there comparing the colors.
Luv your review. Did you have issue with too much permatease near ear tabs preventing the hair from being tucked behind the ear? Another wig reviewer talked about that issue.
Liz Bee Thank you! I just went and tried it on because I don’t remember that being an issue. It does have a decent amount of permatease and tucking it behind my ear was not that easy. I did it but it wasn’t that comfortable and didn’t look that great. But it’s doable. Hope that helps!
Hi Stacy! Soft and subtle is still tempting me, every time I watch your video, I am convinced it's the one! Since Gabor offers petit/average and average/large...which cap do you order? Thanks again for your reviews!!!!
Hi Karen! That's great to hear that you are interested in Soft & Subtle. It's such a great wig. I order Gabor's average size. They also sell a large cap size and that was too big for me.
