Thanks for your summary of Screwtape Letters because it was helpful to me. You mentioned in your video about a book called, "Lord Foulgrin's Letters." You said you couldn't recommend it because you hadn't read it yet. I appreciated that you mentioned this book because I just finished reading it. I thought it was an updated version of "Screwtape Letters" and found it enjoyable and thought it was well written. Randy Alcorn did a good job presenting the spiritual battle we face and gave a number of gospel presentations. I want to have my granddaughter read this book and I think she would get a lot out of it.
I would like to say I came across this video recently while currently going through the RCIA, and the book really put into words what the thoughts have been over the last few years and a long, winding journey back into the church. Especially since the “patient” in the book is a man who comes into the church in a similar manner. This was an excellent summation and I would highly recommend the John Cleese audiobook for those on the fence or going through that journey.

This is a great introduction video! Truly though the only way you can experience the depth of this book is by reading each example Screwtape gives to Wormword to make his patient stay distracted from God. That is where the real fruit of his work comes from! This video did help me understand more a different side: that if temptation exists, so must free will! I watched this video for a fresher to help guide a research paper of mine, but now have to go think more about this theme of free will’s proof in the eyes of temptation and divine intervention. Thank you for your work!
I watched this video in preparation for my book club. I think, as you said, that Satan has overstepped his bounds and God is using that to show many the truth.

I love my old copy. Collins Fontana books. Wish i had more from the Fontana series. Mere Christianity was an eye opener. This book is Legend. Great summary btw

Lord Foulgrin Letters is also a very good read. The author Randy Alcorn at one point mentions the characters in Screwtape in his book LFL... I highly recommend it if you liked The Screwtape Letters

Have you read the book? It’s explicitly Christian.
@@freeindeed08 I used the word "additional". Whether the book is explicitly Christian or not, it's a great piece of literature. It is possible to talk about a Christian book without speaking in Christianese.
@@freeindeed08 Additionally, why do you think John Cleese did the audiobook voice over? He is "explicitly not Christian" - he understands that it is a great work of literature.
As a Christian, speaking about a book that was written by a Christian, on a topic that’s explicitly Christian, on a Christian UA-cam channel, I think I’m perfectly within my rights to add some Christian commentary at the end. It’d be like talking about the Bible without mentioning Christian things. You don’t have to like Christian things but you are watching a video on a Christian book so you should expect it.
