One of my favorite locations, and a great spot for birding as well. Kept hearing indigo buntings and northern parulas singing among others as you were hiking.
Wow Cliff this is 100% Beautiful just what i needed i remember walking after rain places like these n the Fresh Air was INCREDIBLE Tks Brian saying Prayers for ur bud Jon he posted me few road trips
How beautiful was that. Think those columbines were gorgeous. Mind you I do love all flowers. Lovely to see the green now. We in Autumn now but don’t think our flowers realise that. It’s been quite warm here. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
Cliff, WE have one species of Trillium that grows here in the Pacific Northwest called unsurprisingly, , Pacific Trillium, also Western wake-robin. Berthusin Park in Lynden has a beautiful old growth forest where my wife and I see them in the Spring. That Shenks's Ferry trail is a Naturalist Joy with it's plants and birds, so much history! Thank you, your plant knowledge is so impressive, I'm good with birds, but plants, not so much. Rik Spector
I know how you feel. Just went to a section of C&O for Virginia Bluebells. Normally fields of them so beautiful. They were over 😢. Different time every year.
You know what I'm thinking a identification /hike I'd like to go on one depending on how far from my home but I think it would be very interesting Probably next Spring.
Flowers are important. they add beauty, medicinal needs and food and nutrients for the bees,[ if any, nowadays ] who also help pollinate other flowers.
The earth provides us with beauty, nourishment and healing! Thank you, Cliff, for this lovely
educational hike..I'm learning so much from your videos.

It's a beautiful path regardless of the flowers.
The Lacaster Conservancy owns the preserve, so it is well protected

Guess that wouldn't be the environment for Lady Slippers?
You've mentioned several plants that have medicinal properties. What do they do different from each other?
the trail appears very clean, do you think they maintain it with spray?
Doubt it, just quite a few folks hike that trail keeping it worn down.
So the tunnel was built as a railroad tunnel but now functions as a culvert? I would have liked to have heard more about that.
Set = so
