“Hi guys! Andrea Mills here!” 🥰 she is so sweet! She’s so smart and efficient! These are very good tips!! Someone should take all of her tips, ideas, recipes, etc. from these videos and make a book of it 💝 I would buy it and I bet MANY other people would buy it!
You are by far my favorite youtuber. I am 21, I'm not religious and my life pretty crazy but I admire you so much. Every video you make is interesting to me. You're honest, genuine, wise, thorough and humble. Thank you for all of the wonderful advice it's so appreciated!
Someone asked a good question that I wish I would've remembered to mention in the video, so here's an add-on tip: We buy fresh fruits and vegetables weekly on our trip to our local store. We try to buy what's on sale. That tends to mean those things are in season and they're in abundance so not only are they less expensive, they're probably more nutritious. We also have a garden in the summer and grow things like lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, onions, garlic, corn, green beans, peas, pumpkins, watermelon and herbs. We grow perennial fruits and vegetables, too, such as asparagus, rhubarb, grapes, raspberries, apples, blueberries, strawberries, plums and we just planted apricots last year. We don't have big green thumbs, but we do our best!
Do your kids eat vegetables? Ours don't. It's on my top ten list of 'issues.' My son ate great food growing up, but has not taught his children to do so. They like fast food.
+DrummerlovesBookworm Tom and I are iffy with vegetables ourselves so it's been a struggle for us as well as the kids! We do better when we grow our own because it feels exciting to eat what we've produced. Some of the kids enjoy salads, carrot sticks, etc. but others don't. Solomon doesn't even like much fruit. Oranges and strawberries are about all he likes. That being said, we do serve them and encourage everyone to try them. I feel like we'll be more likely to succeed long-term if we take a gentle approach. Our parents method of forcing us to sit at the table until we ate them clearly didn't work well with Tom and I to produce a life-long love of veggies. (One sneaky way I do it is blend them up in our soups so no one notices them.)
DrummerlovesBookworm We used to have issues with veggies, now our diet is largely veggies and fruit. (Mostly paleo). Salads are classed as veggies too, a lot of people don't realize this and it doesnt have to just be standard garden salad. Our favorites are roasted broccoli and cauliflower heads that has "kfc chicken" spice mix on it. When I serve this it devoured fast and ask for more before anything else on the plate. We also love the "kfc" homemade gravy too. Garlic and cheese roasted broccoli and cauliflower is delicious too and you can add other veggies. And super quick and wasy. I add zucchini "zoodles" mixed in with noodles (we use mung bean). The trick is to get a little creative and don't give up if it is a fail, try something else. Also one night a week having a "culture night" were we make and try a food from another culture and purposely picking something with veggies. We just love butter chicken with pumpkin, beans, baby corn and watercress. No need for standard steamed veggies with todays availability in the supermarkets, there is a taste adventure out there. I hope this has encouraged you to try a few new recipes. God bless
Enjoyed listening to her talk. Just was made aware of your channel recently when some of the videos about her last moments of her life surfaced on my feed. Thank you for sharing these videos of her as well. Praying for you all.
I'm 17 and don't plan on having a family anytime soon, nor do I really need these tips at the moment. Your videos are just so interesting and fun to watch🤗.
Thank you so much for your videos. I am a stay at home mom to a 9 month old. We've become very creative on stretching our budget from going to two incomes to one. Your videos have brought encouragement on making it work. Though I imagine we have different views religiously and in other areas, I find your family a breath of fresh air.
I very much appreciate this video as well as some of your other ones on shopping, budgets etc. You have help me re-organize my way of thinking when it comes to shopping and budgeting. We now have what we call the “Wilson Nook” for our pantry… I now shop once a month on Walmart, and do a weekly shopping and it has helped keep me organized and budget friendly. We used to be a family of five and two of the kids are out of the house and married… So we are a small family of three, but we do a lot of entertaining and constantly have people in our home. So when it comes to food shopping I find that we’re always buying food for those coming over not just those in the household. Thanks for all you do and thanks for always sharing with us on how to make our lives much easier.
I do my homework while I watch your videos because they are nice and relaxing. I love having that kind of filler noise. Thanks for making awesome content.
Love watching your videos. I'm 21 and in college and life can get so stressful sometimes, but then I can come on UA-cam and watch people like you and your family and it makes me realize that there's always a better tomorrow! You all have such a positive mindset that it makes me want to be more positive myself. ❤️ always looking forward to the next video
Shannon Mallaney I'm nearly 30 and I like to watch her videos to relax too, even if it's on a topic I don't have any interest in! Between her pleasant tone of voice and positivity they're calming!
I am a 15 year old girl and i just love watching your videos, even though i do not have a family and children of my own yet, your videos make me feel prepared, escpecially these money saving videos, for when i go off to college i can use these techniques to help me save. thank you so much for making videos, i watch them always as soon as i can, please never stop making them!!!
I heard a friend complaining that schools don't teach life skills anymore (another reason we homeschool 😉). I think your videos should be required viewing to many of these kids that are growing up not knowing basic skills. Always love your videos Andrea, thank you!
Andrea, I have been enjoying your videos for several weeks. We don't see eye to eye on many issues, but I really like how you interact with your kids. I also like your budgeting ideas.
I just love your channel & value your opinions and insight! I know this won't work for you, but someone else may get help from this: I shop, once a week, sometimes every other week, but what helps me stay on track is... 1. View the store ad. See what's on sale and if I have any coupons or e coupons that I can stack on top of that. 2.Make a list! 3.My Kroger's sends me $5 off $50 or more coupons that are good for 1 week. I try to keep my budget to that. My Aldi's also gives out coupons for $5 off of $30, so, depending on what we need, that determines which store I'll go to. 4.Aldi's has a money back guarantee, sometimes double, on their store brands. If I try something new and we don't care for it, I can always get my $ back. 5. At Kroger, I am always on the lookout for manager's special stickers. It's usually on products that are getting close to the expiration. If I am going to use it that day or next, I'll get it, if it's on my list or too good to pass up. I could also freeze the product of I need it in the future. 6. I also check a lot of product web sites and see if they offer coupons, use ibotta and other similar apps. Hope this may be of help to someone! Keep up the great video content! I enjoy your videos and know you put a lot of thought into them!
We shop very much the same way! Except I do shop the warehouse stores but only buy what is comparably priced, with buying in bulk keeps the trips to the stores down, which I like. Sales go in cycles so it's easy to buy most everything on sale, like you said just buy up multiplies (enough to last to the next sale) and mainly store brands. A few things I will run in for more often is for quick sales, by learning when the stores will drastically mark down meats I buy and then freeze or can those, along with produce.Another tip to save, with being a sewer, cloth napkins/paper towels helps save with the grocery list.. We've used those for many years now and when they get badly stained, they become dust rags and I make new ones, usually with fabric I've found on clearance (flannel).
one way I save money is having a master grocery list; everything I want on hand for the month. then I go through and cross off stuff I for sure don't need and highlight the things I for sure do need. all the leftover items are things I look to stock up on as budget allows. this has dramatically reduced the time it takes to get ready to shop and reduced the "oh, dang I forgot to get that" trips.
That's how I do a pantry inventory before I shop. I have everything listed (not just food, put household items, office supplies, etc.) and I go through and check our supplies of everything. It only takes about 10 minutes to do a look over and, you're right, it makes it much easier to stick to fewer shopping trips!
I'm so glad I asked you what app you used to make your shopping list. I've used it twice now and stayed within my budget. also I love the fact my husband can see my list and he can add to it if needed, or he can do my shopping while he's out! Thank you again!!
Love watching your tips! When we were in our early years and would look for coins under the cushion :-) we only bought store brand items. My kids don't know any different :-) We have a BJ's and Aldi's that we shop at so I go to 3 stores on shopping day (Walmart is the third). I took my calculator and went through BJ's and compared prices to Walmart. Not everything at BJ's is cheaper! Aldi's just opened a few months ago and love their prices. Again, I checked them against Walmart. As for coupons we don't buy the things that have coupons. I know people who play the coupon game, but that takes a TON of time. Some people had to stop because it was getting out of hand. I would love to have a large pantry. For now I have things stored in different rooms. We have a large house, but only a closet sized pantry. Oh well :-) God bless!
The calculator does come in handy for figuring out the unit price/per oz. We all have different ways of saving that suits our lifestyles, personalities and locations. I'm blessed to have everything close to me which sometimes makes it harder to figure out what's best to do. I'm currently doing a little bit of everything. I use the Walmart app to get the price match refund on an ecard, coupon a little bit for when I want to buy makeup at CVS, stock up on sales, ordering Azure for the 1st time (I'm so excited!!!) and signed up for a farm co-op and I'll be picking up my first box of organic or non GMO vegetables, tomorrow. I don't know if I'll stick with it but I'm trying to find a way to not go broke while buying healthier food. What would be really cheap would be for me to grow my own food. Maybe someday you could share (if you haven't already) about your garden, what you grow and what herbs you buy and use for medicinal purposes. I'm so glad that this channel has turned into a sort of ministry for you. You truly are a Godly example to follow like a Proverbs 31 or Titus 2 woman. God bless you and the work of your hands.
Thanks again for another great video! I DO feel peace and happiness when a new one pops up. You are an inspiration to me in many, many ways even though we have pretty different lives. ( I'm a public schoolteacher and single ( widowed) mom of one yet I feel like I'm chatting with a friend each time. Can't wait for the next one! ☺️☺️☺️
Those are great tips! Thank you for planning it out & sharing it with us! I am so thankful you are going strong here in UA-cam! my menu box os fabulous! So very helpful!
I grocery shop online, that way I know cost of everything and I can add and remove according my budget, no random items in my cart. I also have a meal plan for each meal.
I love your videos so much. Listening to you is so nice, you have such a calm and peaceful demeanor. Also, I love your makeup in this video. Gorgeous and simple! ❤️
I rarely use a list :) I keep our meals super simple and buy a lot of the same ingredients to use in different ways. We also don't snack much-(Thankful for that with 5 boys!) The Aldi we used to shop at closed a few months ago. I tried the clicklist option at Kroger just yesterday. Just make an order online, someone does the shopping for me, and I go pick it up. I don't even have to get out of the van! I'm thinking Aldi closing is actually been a blessing as disappointed as I was when it closed. I'm actually spending about the same on mostly organic foods by shopping at Kroger now.
On the rainchecks, you want to check with your store how they work. I found out our grocery store only does rainchecks on sale items that are in the ads. I found stuff on sale that's wasn't in the ad and they would not do rainchecks. Thank you for sharing your tips.
Michael was eavesdropping on this video. He said to tell you that I use a combination shopping method - I take a list AND wander the aisles. That way I can spend three, four times more money........???? oops? I have tried to use a calculator in the grocery store but I find that the prices are not on the shelves half the time or don't match when I check out. It could be very time-consuming and stressful to actually get that right. We love to go to the Farmer's Market in the Seattle University District. I have to admit that I like coming up with meal ideas based on what fresh stuff or artisan local foods we run into there. Creative on the fly. And then go home and fix a great meal with chicken nuggets and fries for the grandkids on the side. :-/ xoj
Hi, im Dawn from England (middle bit, slightly north of Birmingham) i love ur totally warm personality an ive been watching you for a while now. l only have me and my 21 yr old son (who has Autism) at home....and our small dog .... :)
In my home town we had a mills market I loved that store but they went out of business when the father passed away and the sons took it over it was sad seeing it close
I am always; look for deals and we shop about every week, two weeks. : ) We go to ALdis mostly and once in a while, Ollies. It is nice to get out once in a while. I know in Wallmart has delivery. Stockpiling is smart. We buy chicken, etc when have good sale.
I do the same with my lists!!! I do them in order of the store that way I am not back tracking cos I have found That backtracking cost me money!!!! I will buy stuff not on my list if I have to backtrack so I go carefully the first time down the aisles to not have to backtrack!!!! Love your channel!!!!
Another great video Andrea! I make a list for our Grocery if it’s not on list we done buy lol hubby and I are on our own now we had four boys and boys sure can eat now we had 12 one grandchild age seventeen pass away he with the Lord Amen also a Son in heaven 😢 at the age of 26 anyway I shop for my family all most the same as you of course you have a bigger family than I did! My time shopping then for my was me time 😀 have a great Blessed week end God Is Good All The Time as my Mum would say! Thanks for sharing Hugs Liz.
I grocery shop once a month as a big trip and then to small coupon trips if there is a really good deal. But I do this because we only get paid once a month
I do one big grocery trip once a month and weekly or bi-weekly for fresh veg and fruit. Also bread if I don't feel like baking. I also have a stocked pantry I can all year around. But there is only 2 of us here so I put up beans, meat and soup when things are on sale. I work hard to stretch my $$ to make sure we have a good diet on a fixed income.
That sounds like very fulfilling work! I love canning and gardening and it makes me feel so happy to get to spend time doing that. You feel so accomplished when you stand back and survey all those beautiful jars of food!
Hi Andrea can u please post ur grocery check list on ur website? I just checked it out and printed ur clothing inventory list so cool!! Can't wait to see how it works for our family.
* managing the list by the store layout is a great idea I am grateful to your videos for savings, communication, herbal tips & the peace it offers. I have shared with friends who I think would appreciate your message - * In the new year, I am changing grocery shopping to 1trip every 2 two weeks for my " large" shopping & then popping into $ Store, Dollar General or Family $ when they are on my route ( no special trips)
Have you ever thought of growing your own vegetables/fruit? :) it would be such a great learning experience for the children and they could be involved in the planting, growing, and picking process ! You could even incorporate it into your home schooling.. We grew our own tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers during the summer and it was very easy and low maintenance.. Not to mention it was delicious and free ! I had more than enough to share with family and friends :)
Wonderful tips thanks for sharing. The grocery store close to my home does the BOGO deals. I like to stock up using BOGO so that is my money saving tip. Sometimes I will get lucky and find a coupon on the BOGO which really can't be beat! LOVE your channel and it does bring me peace.
Your life is the complete opposite of my own but I enjoy these vids. Great tips although being single grocery shopping once a week is better for me, it keeps me from buying too much and wasting food.
I love the idea of big shopping once a month I think I'm gonna try this myself, I shop weekly at the moment and it costs just over £100 ( I'm in U.K. ) for 6 of us which I feel is too much
I'd like to add, don't buy huge amounts for a small number of people if you don't know whether they eat it all. my parents had a phase buying everything at aldi but then the huge amounts got moldy because we were just three people.
I totally hate coupons. I do use Shopkick, receipthog, checkout51, and Ibotta to earn rebates. It can really add up. I also check Amazon Prime and Jet(now owned by Walmart).
I don't have a large family but I still love your videos. I find them very comforting. I am boggled by the idea of shopping once a month. What about fresh food?
I used to go to Walmart weekly in addition to our local store, but it's never been the place that I bought fresh produce. Now I only shop at Walmart once a month, but we still do weekly shopping at our local grocery store which is where we get fresh produce, most of our meat, etc. Tom stops every other week at another store for milk (he gets 14 gallons at a time.) We also have a garden in the summer to eat from and preserve quite a bit for the pantry.
We do that and I said that to my husband at ALDIS and the cashier said if you don't like it bring it back and you can try something new for free. It was yogurt and it was cheaper and better for him and he liked the yogurt. So instead of paying a dollar or more, we can get this braind for 65 cents!!
Thanks for all your info! We have 7 children and I need tips on saving. May I ask what part of the country you live? We have a garden and live in the Midwest. 💖 love your channel!!!
We buy that weekly on our trip to our local store. That would've been good to mention if I'd thought of it which is that we try to buy what's on sale for fresh fruits and vegetables. That tends to mean those things are in season and they're in abundance so not only are they less expensive, they're probably more nutritious. We also have a garden in the summer.
LOL That is what we call our big freezer and storage area. We get pet needs from CHEWY.COM and saves time and money. They even do prescription food. I love rainchecks. Good ideas. : )
I'm so glad I asked you what app you used to make your shopping list. I've used it twice now and stayed within my budget. also I love the fact my husband can see my list and he can add to it if needed, or he can do my shopping while he's out! Thank you again!!

Thank you for sharing this. Money is tight in my household, and these tips really help. Especially when aldi is a 30 minute drive away.

Always love your videos! You continue to be such an encouragement and blessing!
Absolutely love your channel! Thank you for sharing your lives with us, it's been such a sweet blessing! Can't wait for the next video!! God bless
Thank you I really enjoyed this video! Just started watching you videos and I really been blessed by you and your family.
On the rainchecks, you want to check with your store how they work. I found out our grocery store only does rainchecks on sale items that are in the ads. I found stuff on sale that's wasn't in the ad and they would not do rainchecks. Thank you for sharing your tips.
I would love to see how you sew the clothing and how you select fabric etc also how to grow the veggies n fruits I would love to try it out
your shopping ideas are just like mine... :-) even when my babies were young...now they have babies of their own..
:-/ xoj
I’ll never understand why she was taken. I miss this wise & beautiful lady
Thanks for sharing your awesome advice. I really enjoys your channel and your family.
Very interesting! Love your videos!
Shopping less often is super.🖒

I love watching your vlogs!! I'm planning on moving into my own place this year and you have given me tips and ideas ! thank you💕
In my home town we had a mills market I loved that store but they went out of business when the father passed away and the sons took it over it was sad seeing it close
I am always; look for deals and we shop about every week, two weeks. : ) We go to ALdis mostly and once in a while, Ollies. It is nice to get out once in a while. I know in Wallmart has delivery. Stockpiling is smart. We buy chicken, etc when have good sale.
Good tips! Another one is to have a garden and chickens of possible!
awesome video, Andrea!
thank you for your time!
Great Ideas for saving at the grocery store. Love the videos.
Loved your video. I always make a list before going shopping as well 😀
Your make up looks really pretty. Also great video as always.
I love your videos thank you for spending the time to do them. God bless x
Love your channel,thanks for sharing
Your videos are just wonderful❤
Hi Andrea can u please post ur grocery check list on ur website? I just checked it out and printed ur clothing inventory list so cool!! Can't wait to see how it works for our family.
* managing the list by the store layout is a great idea
I am grateful to your videos for savings, communication, herbal tips & the peace it offers. I have shared with friends who I think would appreciate your message -
* In the new year, I am changing grocery shopping to 1trip every 2 two weeks for my " large" shopping & then popping into $ Store, Dollar General or Family $ when they are on my route ( no special trips)
I buy the store brand for most of my grocery items!
We actually do grow a garden each year and do some canning. We have a pretty short growing season, but it's something we enjoy!
I love the idea of big shopping once a month I think I'm gonna try this myself, I shop weekly at the moment and it costs just over £100 ( I'm in U.K. ) for 6 of us which I feel is too much
Chilled_mum you will be better off. I aim for £200 for the month
Thanks for the tips. :)
My husband died last year, I was 36 at the time. I hope I can meet someone new and have more children. I only have two.
Tom stops every other week at another store for milk (he gets 14 gallons at a time.) We also have a garden in the summer to eat from and preserve quite a bit for the pantry.
i love your channel!
excellent video
We do that and I said that to my husband at ALDIS and the cashier said if you don't like it bring it back and you can try something new for free. It was yogurt and it was cheaper and better for him and he liked the yogurt. So instead of paying a dollar or more, we can get this braind for 65 cents!!
Ok my biggest problem is my kids eat everything as soon as it’s in the house so anyone have a tip for me
Thanks for all your info! We have 7 children and I need tips on saving. May I ask what part of the country you live? We have a garden and live in the Midwest. 💖 love your channel!!!
We live in Wyoming with hot, short summers and cold, cold winters.
Hi!!
what about fruit an other stuff
We buy that weekly on our trip to our local store. That would've been good to mention if I'd thought of it which is that we try to buy what's on sale for fresh fruits and vegetables. That tends to mean those things are in season and they're in abundance so not only are they less expensive, they're probably more nutritious. We also have a garden in the summer.
I am always SO guilty of buying a ton of generic deodorant and body wash for my poor husband that he ends up not liking because it's a good price. 😳
Here's a tip...buy healthier food, not prepackaged.
Your great I'm only 10 but this was good
LOL That is what we call our big freezer and storage area. We get pet needs from CHEWY.COM and saves time and money. They even do prescription food. I love rainchecks. Good ideas. : )
:)
Xtreme Blurbs 😀😀
Walmart is not the cheapest place to shop! If Kroger is in your area, they are much more reasonable.
I'm so glad I asked you what app you used to make your shopping list. I've used it twice now and stayed within my budget. also I love the fact my husband can see my list and he can add to it if needed, or he can do my shopping while he's out! Thank you again!!
