I KNOW! I saw it blue and black all day, and then at night I just casually glanced at it AND IT WAS WHITE AND GOLD. Blinked. Blue-black again. AND THEN IT CHANGED COLORS IN MY FACE. I freaked out for like three hours
Pandie Pufferfish same. It’s because our brains don’t change the image, that’s how it really looks. Everyone else that sees white gold or black blue are crazy
No matter what way I look at it, how bright or dark my screen is ,if I look at it then come back later I STILL SEE BLUE AND BLACK!!!! I have no idea how you people switch from blue and black to white and gold! I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT SEEING WHITE AND GOLD FEELS LIKE!!! *AM I THE ONLY ONE?!?*
Same! That's what frustrates me, that I cannot see it in white and gold at all, unless the balance has been shifted completely so the blue actually disappears and white (which isn't even white, just a really really pale blue) is shown!
I originally saw white and gold . My husband said black and blue . We have 4 kids , 2 said white and gold , 2 said blue and black . I’ve seen this over time but to this day now all I see is blue and gold . It’s kinda crazy . I no longer see white but I see a very light blue . With gold
I've never seen it white and gold but only in black and blue, I don't get how people can think that it's not? it looks like it has a filter, yeah but it's not white and gold xD
i don't get how can people see the dress white and gold, I tried to see the dress in almost every angle that i can imagine, and every time, i see it black and blue.
I really think it depends on what you saw before you looked at the dress. I saw it as blue and black all day yesterday and the night before. However last night, I saw the dress as white and gold in an Instagram thumbnail because it was next to a picture of an orangey tint. Then I clicked on the image and it was blue and black.
How? Because in that image it IS blue tinted white and dull gold! I mean seriously measure the colors! The so-called black lace has a ton of a mix of red and green and just a touch of blue, i.e. brownish gold. And the 'intense blue' part of the dress measures as a blue tinted white, it's closer to pure white than pure blue by far, but it definitely has a blue cast to it. If you cones are bad at picking up red/green then maybe you are just picking up close to even R,G,B across the way for the lace and thus you see it as dull gray and then since you see blue more than R,G the blue in the white stripes comes across more solidly blue instead of blue tinted white. Using a cheap TN panel or a monitor with poor calibration can shift things too. With a TN panel simply changing viewing angle a few degrees will change what it shows.
+Myke X "the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races." Do you see the words "people of color" anywhere in there?

I see it basically the same way, although I'd call it gold rather than brown, albeit a dull, browny gold. It's the specular highlights that make it seem like it has a gold-like lustre. Basically I see it exactly as the average colour values reveal it to be.
0:50 what do you mean someone who look colors everyday we all are except for the color blinded people wait aren't black and white colors neh its just a shade
Ragnar Lodbrok It's probably because of how you set the brightness on your phone. Some people have the brightness all the way up and see white and gold. Some people have the brightness in the middle or somewhere near the end and see black and blue.
I showed it to my mum and she said it was white and gold. I almost freaked out. I literally started to worry about her sight and about the fact how could she see white and gold when it is DEFINITELY blue and black. I mean, how could you even see white and gold?! Where?!
there's nothing wrong with your moms sight, like this video said its just how our brain interprets the color. for some people the picture is DEFINITELY white and gold, thats okay its just a picture with bad lighting that just confuses the brain (:
Exactly the same happened to me! I was like "how could anyone think this is white gold?" and my mum said "of course it is" the next hour I was sitting bevor the picture trying to get why the hell someone could see white and gold :D
In reference to the chessboard illusion towards the end of this video, the fact that my human brain uses visual clues (the shadow in this case) to tweak my perceptions has nothing to do with "people seeing the same thing in different ways." I believe that everyone's brain works the same way in this regard, so this would be a case of people seeing the same thing the same way.
its weird because during the day when i look at it, i see white and gold. but last night and tonight, im seeing black and blue. it keeps changing. and its tripping me out hahaha
You and me both. Everytime I look at it it changes. Hell, right when the dress showed up here for me is went from black and blue right to white and gold.
HelenaDenStore people who see it in white and gold are incorrect, the actual dress is black and blue, as said by the owner of the dress, people who see it as white and gold have some form of colour blindness or inverted eyesight
No, but colors do, like you could see red as a whole new color that is not red, and your entire life would have been a lie. Your brain always try's to fill the blank in everything, like example reading this: H1, My N4M3 15 P373R, (Hi my name is peter)
karl jony Ikr, seriously I've tried brightening up the picture and things like that. Even at my school though most people think it's white and gold. And when I showed them a picture of the dress without the lighting they saw black and blue. When showed them the original they go back to white and gold!!!
No actually the people who see blue and black have bad eyesight. The only time the dress is really blue and black is when you see it on the website of the retailer who sells the dress.
Two nights ago, it was white and gold, yesterday it was black and blue, then black and brown, then white and gold and now it's white and gold again. It's so funny~
What kind of monitor? Is it a cheap TN panel technology? TN panels shift contrast/brightness/color LIKE CRAZY and all it takes is viewing from a few degrees different angle for things to shift around. PVA/MVA are more resistant and IPS is the most resistant.
At the time, I said White and Gold, Mom said Blue and Black and Dad said Blue and Gold so you guys aren't the only ones, our household was divided into three parties!!!!
+Hej I love your profile pic btw, is just 85 % of the people that I know that see white and gold are annoying af but that dosent mean all of them are annoying
There's two color lines. White and gold. Black and blue. Ever the exact same shirts in different colors? Sneakers? Same concept. The lightng is blue-tinged which makes the white appear light blue. If no one had suggested blue and black no one would see it. There are bots in the comments btw.
I knew something was off with the whole debate. I can see how you can get gold and white, as when the contrast is screwed with in a photo, you can end up with exotic color blotches. It's one of the main problems I get encounter when photoshopping images with different saturation and contrasts. Some images just have entire wavelengths missing or were taken in different types of light. Yellow safety lines in old factories are actually closer to orange than yellow. This is because incandescent bulbs did not produce enough blue. The white floors walls were actually yellow, but since we know they are supposed to be white, our brains add blue in our perception of everything. When you add blue to orange, it approaches yellow. That is because the orange and red colors are of a long wave light, and blue is a short wave light. Yellow is a between-ish wavelength. This is why blue white looks brighter than yellow white. Blue is a shorter wavelength and we perceive it as "being brighter" When the florescent tubes were installed (Oh, I worked in a factory for a short span of time), Everyone was shocked to see everything that was yellow turn orange. The white walls were white now, but everything else looked darker from the added wavelength of blue.
Also, when you look a metallic surfaces, you see something special. Shadows always look black. The highlight on the black patches are gold in color, and that is why people see gold. The gold is very dim implying that the image of the dress is dark and in the shadows. People perceive the shadows on certain kinds of white fabric to be blue. Most white fabric made in today's world is actually a little bit blue. It is all about context and perspective. I was able to force my brain to see gold barely. Still, the blue was always blue to me...
I guess im different then. I saw a Blue and Gold. But the blue was like a less saturated sky blue, and the gold was a dirty, not as rich kind of gold. Anyone else see the same? Dull Sky Blue and Dirty Gold?
The thing that's so shocking to me isn't that we see different colors, but that this is the first time so many people have seen SUCH drastically different colors. A lot of us have probably argued with someone about the shades between green and blue or blue and black before, but the difference between gold and black is so large its incredible that we each are seeing different things. I've seen the shadowing example the show in the video before but thats on a grayscale. I really want to see another example where colors are seen so differently.
The color of the dress in the picture is white and light brown, but the actual color of the dress is black and blue. That is just a fact. There are those who color correct for the warm lighting in their brain so report blue and black, but without the color correction, I do not think anyone would say blue and black. I have taken the picture into paint and sampled the colors. The white has a slight bluish tone. The golden is pretty much a brown. There is no black and blue in that picture without some heavy white balance corrections in one's mind.
I see white and gold but its just where you look at the image first abd then your brain fills the rest of the dress the same collor some look at the light parts first and see white and gold it has nothing to do with eyesight its what you see first
Ricardo Vogel Same here... If it matters, I have worked with Pantone colour scheme for over the last decade so have to colour swatch thousands of colours to match those on screen and other people's interpretations of what they want their t-shirt screen print to be. This is nothing new to me so I guess that is why I see white gold blue and black... :)
This is the closest I've heard of someone seeing something even close to what I see. The "black" or "gold" color to me is like an olive green, being the greenest on the top area. The rest is definitely blue. No doubt. How the hell could anyone see freakin white in there anywhere? Or black for that matter?? I absolutely do not see either. Weirdos.. jk lol
DUDE. ITS NOT THE DAMN DRESS. ITS THE LIGHTING. JUST BECAUSE WE SEE WHITE AND GOLD DOESNT MEAN WE'RE BLIND. IT JUST MEANS WE SEE IT DIFFERENTLY. IT DOESN MEAN THAT WE BELIEVE THE DRESS IS WHITE AND GOLD. ITS DEFINITELY BLACK AND BLUE BUT I SEE WHITE AND GOLD. I ACCEPT THE FACT THAT ITS BLACK AND BLUE BUT I STILL SEE IT AS WHITE AND GOLD. I CANT CHANGE IT. IM SORRY. IM SORRY MY EYES WERE PROGRAMMED LIKE THT. HAPPY NOW?!
Eve Fan (you forgot to turn off the caps lock) The thing is i'm talking about people who arguments saying that is white and gold and people who see blue and black are retarded and need a doctor =/
LEE LEE umm I searched it up and I didn't see anything relevant to me about the syndrome :/ like I can't see how it applies to me. Maybe I can off as something I'm not, coz I'm definitely not twitching rn
RRGeada soz I should've said before hand that my keyboards broken but I'm using my phone now. Yah maybe they're trolls, but I'm so sad coz I can't see black and blue. I wanna see it but I can't. *^*
I chocked at 0:37, I always thought the dress was obviously white & gold. Now it comes out it was black & blue to being with. It's all due to lighting / contrast then.
Actually if you're color blind you just see colors differently and if you're blind it's not like you see all black it's like a blur of colors you can't make any sense of, so everyone sees colors every day unless they spend their whole day in a dark room or never opened their eyes all day
I see gold and white, I hate it when people freak out when I DON'T see blue and black, and how they say if you see it in gold and white, you're less intelligent, c'mon!
People shoudnt freak out if someone says white and gold. However, when someone insists the original is white and gold despite the proof, thats annoying.
I heard people who see black and blue have eyes that are more sensitive to light. I have really sensitive eyes, and I see blue and black, but It's probably bullshit. I'm just putting that out there.
Has nothing to do with being smart, its just how the brain fills in information, if you see it as White and Gold, your brain is NOT filtering the information, you see the PICTURE of the dress as the PICTURE really is, with no preconceptions, If you see it black and blue, your mind is filtering out the reflected light from the Image. again I say image, because we are not seeing the actual object but an image of the object So its safe to say: the Dress is Black and Blue the picture of the dress its White and gold.
+Acid Muffin Okay, so let me explain it to you. I'm a graphic designer and I work with shades and photos all the time and the way I see it is a camera using warm fluorescent white balance in a dark place only litten from the back. The light in the back is so bright so that would make the whites fade into a light blue- it's what happens with egg shell whites in a dark setting. That's why my brain immediately calls on the white and from there the other one automatically adjusts to a gold considering how the colors go on the palette. It's exactly what's happening the way I see it and I actually can barely imagine how the others see it in it;s original colours. For me it's basic knowledge of lighting to see it white and gold but when I really squint my eyes darkening the image I can see the black and blue. It just takes a darker perception of colours in the palette and a more minimal perception of camera lighting!
"We decided to talk to a person who looks at color all day."
That could be a lot of people.

I saw white and gold and i saved the picture. 2 hours i looked at it and its blue and black. Thought i'm possessed.
I see gold and white, and only gold and white. It's not a weak gold and white, and it's not "almost" Black and blue, it's GOLD AND WHITE
Same here! I guess some internet users are color psychopaths?
What's weird is that at first I saw white and gold but then I saw it later as blue and bla k and it has changed a couple times back and forth

Ragnar Lodbrok It's probably because of how you set the brightness on your phone. Some people have the brightness all the way up and see white and gold. Some people have the brightness in the middle or somewhere near the end and see black and blue.
That makes no sense because sometimes when I look at the picture it suddenly changes. And I didn't adjust the settings..

Your brain always try's to fill the blank in everything, like example reading this: H1, My N4M3 15 P373R, (Hi my name is peter)
The life you see and feel is created by your brain. what you see and feel is just your brains best guess at what reality is
It is well color is
No, but part of it can 👌
Yes
Can't it be just *Blue and Gold*
That's my opinion
I am in the 69% that sees white and gold, regardless of the context or background.

I'm the 0% that see green and purple
Sometimes i see black and blue and sometimes i see gold and white
Most of the time I see it as blue and gold... I don't know what this says about me.
Osmosis Wright I see blue and black but if I squint really hard I can see gold in the black lace. You're not alone! (kind of)
Same
I saw it white and gold for like a few seconds
THANK GOD, I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
Seriously people, how do you see white and gold
Ikr it's blue and black
karl jony Ikr, seriously I've tried brightening up the picture and things like that. Even at my school though most people think it's white and gold. And when I showed them a picture of the dress without the lighting they saw black and blue. When showed them the original they go back to white and gold!!!
Yeah, I don't get why people think it's white and gold.
+EnderKing184 watch the video, duh
+Hikari Enjeru I don't see the black and blue, it's white and gold 😭
I see white and gold but I'm wrong unfortunately I think I need to see a eye specialist

No actually the people who see blue and black have bad eyesight. The only time the dress is really blue and black is when you see it on the website of the retailer who sells the dress.
My friend sees orange and green 😂
Aha 😂
Flying Hipo bruh...😂😂😂
Flying Hipo r they color blind idk??!!!
Flying Hipo colour blind?

Two nights ago, it was white and gold, yesterday it was black and blue, then black and brown, then white and gold and now it's white and gold again. It's so funny~
omg same for me it is driving me insane i am so confused XD
I know I know @.@;
I have seen it both ways- thought i was the only one XD
Same here! The first time I saw it was as white and gold and now I see it as Black and Blue!
What kind of monitor? Is it a cheap TN panel technology? TN panels shift contrast/brightness/color LIKE CRAZY and all it takes is viewing from a few degrees different angle for things to shift around. PVA/MVA are more resistant and IPS is the most resistant.
I see Blue and Gold!
Exactly! I definitely 100% see blue, not white, but the darker color isn't black, it's more of a dark gold.
FINALLY! I found my people.
Lylah Paige Welcome to the club.
Me tooooo
thats because of the shade, so for me i automatically think the real color is white since i take away the shade
Tip: Maximise the brightness, it's gold & white.... Minimise the brightness , it's black & blue!!!😉😉😉
Nope still the same. I see black and blue everytime
thx
Thank you
Nope..
That's me but opposite ways
Am I the only one who sees gold and blue?
I did. I felt so alienated when no one else said the same thing.
At the time, I said White and Gold, Mom said Blue and Black and Dad said Blue and Gold so you guys aren't the only ones, our household was divided into three parties!!!!
No i do to
Am I the only one who sees all of da colors 💩
The first time I did to so no :/

The 31% who say blue and black are smart people
Well, they have better color perception. Doesn't say much about intelligence though.
+Hej I love your profile pic btw, is just 85 % of the people that I know that see white and gold are annoying af but that dosent mean all of them are annoying
Keep telling yourself that.
I'm part of the 31%
Well that's nice :')
Apparently I'm smart xD

same
Blue and black will be the colour of your face in a minute if you don't shut up
I can see gold, but WHERE IS THE WHITE?!?!?!?!?!
cloud9girl57 ikr
There's two color lines. White and gold. Black and blue. Ever the exact same shirts in different colors? Sneakers? Same concept.
The lightng is blue-tinged which makes the white appear light blue.
If no one had suggested blue and black no one would see it. There are bots in the comments btw.
I am tired of hearing about this dress
Then why did you click on this video? If you see something online that you don't wanna hear about, don't click on it. It's that simple.
LEE LEE So i can relate to my fellow haters.
Wow…

DRESS IS BLACK AND GOLD
Blue is a shorter wavelength and we perceive it as "being brighter"
When the florescent tubes were installed (Oh, I worked in a factory for a short span of time), Everyone was shocked to see everything that was yellow turn orange.
Me!
Me too!
Same :D
Like me, you're seeing the correct colors. And photoshop verifies this.
Yes, I did. Does it mean we're in between?
Looks like blue and gold >_>
BEAUTIFUL
The thing that's so shocking to me isn't that we see different colors, but that this is the first time so many people have seen SUCH drastically different colors. A lot of us have probably argued with someone about the shades between green and blue or blue and black before, but the difference between gold and black is so large its incredible that we each are seeing different things. I've seen the shadowing example the show in the video before but thats on a grayscale. I really want to see another example where colors are seen so differently.
For me it changes constantly and it's annoying the hell out of me.
Yes me too! First it appeared white and gold and then later on it seemed blue and black and it keeps changing
Same
Thank you for saying that I thought my eyeballs had gone weird on me
There are more of my kind! Yay!
same here!
I am going to sound insane probably, but I did see all 4 colors. It's really interesting!
I did too I first saw white and gold n than later on I saw black n blue
I didn't see white at all but I saw the rest
On my computer i see it as White and Gold but on my phone it's Blue and Black, don't know why
I did too I thought I was the only one :o now every time I look at it it's blue and gold..
The real dress is black and blue, check my vid out it exposes the real color
The color of the dress in the picture is white and light brown, but the actual color of the dress is black and blue. That is just a fact. There are those who color correct for the warm lighting in their brain so report blue and black, but without the color correction, I do not think anyone would say blue and black. I have taken the picture into paint and sampled the colors. The white has a slight bluish tone. The golden is pretty much a brown. There is no black and blue in that picture without some heavy white balance corrections in one's mind.
So you are saying people who see white and gold are slower?
I literally can't see white and gold though, no matter how hard I try, please explain to me how it's possible to see white and gold.
false. Use a pixel color dropper. Theres dark brown/black and light blue. Zero white and gold
I see it as blue and a black with hints of shimmery gold. Does that mean I have better eyesight than everyone who sees white and gold? Or nah.
Yeah, me too. I see black blue, but i can see gold white in it.
I see white and gold but its just where you look at the image first abd then your brain fills the rest of the dress the same collor some look at the light parts first and see white and gold it has nothing to do with eyesight its what you see first
Same
Ricardo Vogel
Same here...
Weirdos.. jk lol
It kinda looks like white when you see it at night and it appears to have a blue tinge. Then the gold kinda looks like brown idk.
1: COPY THE IMAGE
2: GO TO PAINT
3: PASTE IMAGE
4: USE DROPPER TOOL
5: brown-gold and gray dress
La vraie vie est ailleurs exactly
Imogen Carney THATS THE ONLY COLORS I SEEEEE
I remember this when I was little brings back memories this decade 😂
hahah i love the people who still says that is "white and gold" after seeing the real color of the dress
HAPPY NOW?!
Eve Fan (you forgot to turn off the caps lock)
The thing is i'm talking about people who arguments saying that is white and gold and people who see blue and black are retarded and need a doctor =/
Eve Fan maybe they are just trolling
LEE LEE umm I searched it up and I didn't see anything relevant to me about the syndrome :/ like I can't see how it applies to me. Maybe I can off as something I'm not, coz I'm definitely not twitching rn
RRGeada soz I should've said before hand that my keyboards broken but I'm using my phone now. Yah maybe they're trolls, but I'm so sad coz I can't see black and blue. I wanna see it but I can't. *^*

See colors everyday? didnt everyone see color everyday too?
***** Loool
No not if your blind
+It'sJustTabi Cat or colour blind...
+Aisha Aullybux exactly you shouldn't think that everyone sees colour every day🙌🏻
Actually if you're color blind you just see colors differently and if you're blind it's not like you see all black it's like a blur of colors you can't make any sense of, so everyone sees colors every day unless they spend their whole day in a dark room or never opened their eyes all day
Does anyone else see something besides those 2 colors? I see a light blue and brown -.-
Workdaykittie Lps yeah i see blue and brown.

***** but still they look at colour!
***** blind the color is black color blind you still see some colors or grey as well
Someone hasn't ever visited Scandinavia ;)
Artists and decorators can depict more colors than the average person
I see gold and blue :o
I see gold and white, I hate it when people freak out when I DON'T see blue and black, and how they say if you see it in gold and white, you're less intelligent, c'mon!
It means you're eyes are getting confused by the lighting... That's all
People shoudnt freak out if someone says white and gold. However, when someone insists the original is white and gold despite the proof, thats annoying.
I don't get how are people seeing white and gold......
I heard people who see black and blue have eyes that are more sensitive to light. I have really sensitive eyes, and I see blue and black, but It's probably bullshit. I'm just putting that out there.
Has nothing to do with being smart, its just how the brain fills in information, if you see it as White and Gold, your brain is NOT filtering the information, you see the PICTURE of the dress as the PICTURE really is, with no preconceptions,
If you see it black and blue, your mind is filtering out the reflected light from the Image. again I say image, because we are not seeing the actual object but an image of the object
So its safe to say:
the Dress is Black and Blue
the picture of the dress its White and gold.
Still don't understand how someone sees white and gold ??????????????
I say the same thing to you about your blue and black
+Simona Thank you that was very interesting 😊
Ya me to
