I live in San Diego, California so luckily the climate here isn’t ever freezing. Im going to make one of your betta terra cotta containers. I have done one of them many years ago, like in 2008, but I wasn’t very smart about plants back then. I had only used water lettuce and the next day, some animal had completely ripped it up! I was so surprised. All I could think was “is it a raccoon? Opossum? A cat?” I have no idea. Maybe birds.. but that’s part of the issue where i live now. My family adopted three cats which is great, but they are too curious. I know they’ll go after the betta, so I was going to cover the arrangement with a mesh or screening (to keep leaves out anyway). I also think fish would be very entertaining for the cats as long as it’s just to watch. And there are neighbors cats. And still the raccoons, possums, etc.! Birds are a problem, too. Sigh. 😔 But one must not view nature as “problems”; they were here first. And plus, if we add something to the garden, we are technically going intrude on THEIR world, so if something goes wrong because of our own inadequate preparations, we must accept the karma of doing it incorrectly. 🤣 🙏🏼 live and learn.
Hey I must admit that I made those images based on prompts for Chat GPT haha although I am a designer in my profession, there is an easier, more efficient way to create these types of images nowadays 😅.
I agree with you that one shouldn’t see nature as problems, and if there is a way of incorporating a solution that doesn’t impact the natural aesthetics, that would be ideal. Not sure if you’ve been on my IG account, I have shared a solution for the notorious Mr Frog who likes to take a dip in my betta pond and snack on them from time to time? Ive used a bamboo cover at night time and use it higher up for sunshade in day time. Having said that I don’t have many other predators like where you are, thought I have a cat that cares very little about my fish 😂. Can you have it indoors by the way?
