Thank you for the beautiful feature on our Lübecker Marzipan. And if you are interested - we have many recipes for the pistachio marzipan that you bought :-)
I live in Australia, but was born in Lübeck. Every Christmas we loved it when my grandparents sent us niedereche marzipan for Christmas. My mother always made us a Nuss torte for birthdays with marzipan on top. Thanks for reviving wonderful memories for me
My family is from Lubeck so I have been to Niedderegger many times. I really do not like marzipan at all. I don't why because I love almonds. It is a beautiful cafe and looks very formal. Their other cakes are delicious especially their mocha cake. Luebeck is a beautiful old city that deserves more recognition than it gets. Everyone knows about Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Dresden, Koln, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf but I see very few videos about Lubeck. Thank you for doing this video. I also enjoyed your low calorie German food video as well. There are so many foods you showed that brings back memories of my mother's cooking especially the senf eirer und karttoffel & quark. kohl suppe. I hope you enjoyed your visit.
Thank you for bringing us along on your travels! Here in Canada (Edmonton, Alberta), we have limited exposure to things like Marzipan, but the imagination and creativity displayed is both amazing and looks delicious!
I like marzipan and think coming from Germany it would be so much better than what we have here in America. Those cakes looked so delicious !! I think like you do, have another piece. Those cakes looked like someone put a lot of time in to make them. Thanks for sharing .
Another wonderful video and another chance to see my homeland of my ancestors such history such beauty and culinary art this makes my heart happy to see these videos god bless you and yours and may blessings be put upon you always thank you so much truly for your videos !!! So proud!!
@@cooking-the-world Oh and with the pistachio marzipan why not try the Swedish Princesstårta cake? www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/prinsesstrta_17336 Personally I don't like whipped cream but I love marzipan.
Hi Marta. I loved Marzipan as a kid, it was the only sweet apart from Grütze we had as kids. I didn't know it came from Lubeck though, just that it was lovely. That strikes a chord though because like Hamburg it was a Hanseatic City I believe and not far away. I don't like marzipan anymore but on a plus note I went to Lidl and bought Rollmops and Brötchen so guess what we had for lunch :)
Oh my, I somehow missed this video. Everything you showed looks great; jealous I can't sample as well. When will your new family member being making a series of videos? Maybe an expose on Spätzle? :)
Do they have marzipan with more than 60% almonds? I only found them to have up to 57% almond... In Denmark they have marzipan with 63 and 67% almonds... I have been trying to find something similar in Germany and I don't find. A y recommendation?
Marzipan never actually seen it other then tv etc.Often use as an stiff icing for cake or used in boxed chocolates as a filling? Always interesting, love the old towns and villages in Germany.
Those looked delicious, but I am suspicious. My sister sent several marzipan candy types for Christmas while her husband was stationed in Munich. I was so disappointed with it because it had no almond flavor at all (and I am very fond of almond flavoring)! So I looked up a traditional recipe to make my own, and again - no almond flavor. It seems fine to mold into pretty edible decoration but has basically no taste. It was no better than fondant.
Lübecker Marzipan has a very long tradition and is made with the finest high quality almonds and of course it's less sweet than in the US, the maximum is 30% sugar and a minimum 70% of almonds.
It might be a stupid question, but as you made marzipan yourself, that means you had real almonds in their pure form. Did you taste them and did they taste like you expect almonds to taste? You might be used to artificial or sweeter or flavor. Not judging here, I myself like some stuff that I know is pretty artificial!
@@TheSwedishRiderCertainly not a stupid question! I used good quality, very fresh almonds and they tasted very 'almondy' before grinding them up (especially on the second attempt when I toasted them). I did not expect the marzipan to be very sweet, due to the small amount of sugar being added. I ended up using the remaining almonds as decoration on a cake and they were very tasty that way. The candies sent to me were very pretty though.
@@cooking-the-world sorry that was a bad joke. The cakes look divine, I'd need some tea or coffee with mine. If you like marzipan you'll probably like Scottish macaroon as well. It has a similar consistency but instead of almonds its made using potatoes.

Thank you, we are always interested on trying new recipes. Unfortunately is it not so easy to buy in Frankfurt so good pistachio marzipan as yours.
I Love Marzipan. I remember getting a few small pieces shaped and coloured like Pears or small oranges. in my Christmas stocking.
I love marzipan! I would eat everything in these shops 😂 Marzipan kartoffeln are my favorite 😍
One of my absolute favs! Especially at Christmas! ⛄ 🎄 ⛄

Thanks Scott for watching! Lübeck is so far away from Frankfurt that I would regret not having another piece!
Nicely done!!!
My Favorite! I have a friend visiting Germany right now and she will be bringing me a bunch back!
I bet you cannot wait for her to be back 😀

Personally I don't like whipped cream but I love marzipan.
I love Niederegger of Lübeck!
And I understand why 😂 thanks for watching 😌
The coffee shop is just amazing everything looked so fine and delicious, it's a nice opportunity for a break from a walk through the city.
You are right! There is always good time for a cake 😃
Love marzipan
I love Niederegger Marzipan and my Uncle lives in Lubeck, I need to go back there soon
So you have two reasons to visit this beautiful city 🤩
Grüße aus meiner Heimatstadt Lübeck. Ich mag die Nusstorte am liebsten. Gab´s zu jedem Geburtstag, bei mir. ;)
Ah wie cool 😍
My hubby is from Lankau near Lubeck! We always go to Niederegger when I'm there!
I don’t wonder why. The marzipan there is excellent! And those cakes 🤩
I loVe Lubeck marzipan! I think I would finish the entire store 😂😂
I am drooling.
That’s good I guess 🤩
I feel like a love marzipan in all forms haha. I think the last thing I made with marzipan was a swedish princess torte. :)
I just googled it, it looks delicious 🤤
I love Lûbeck !
Me too 🥰
I use to work for Otto / Bon Prix and when I visited, I made sure it’s not only Hamburg, but Lūbeck too! 🥰🥰

Hahahha :) always good to have a herring :)
Hello. If you like marsipan, you should try Swedish marsipan cake one day. The top marzipan layer is THIN.
Never had any when flying in Germany. Looks delicious!!
Thanks Paul! I cannot imagine a better destination for marzipan and cake lovers than Lübeck!
love marzipan. Thank you for some of the knowledge. l would go home and try to make these cakes :)

Thanks Tim for watching. And yes, the companies get very creative with products from Marzipan. I still dream about those cakes 😀
Is the pistachio marzipan 100% pistachio, or in combination with almond? Everything else looks awesome, but the green block looks interesting.
Hey Daniel, pistachio marzipan contained 48% almonds, sugar, water, 6% pistachios, sugar sirup
Thankfully I found it on the internet :) www.mest.de/produkte/rohmasse-nougat/445/pistazienrohmasse?number=0507
I really luv marzipan wish I knew a bake master that knows about it. Marzipan isn't popular where I'm from
Yummie!
Just watching this, two of my molars instantly had cavities and exploded in my gums!
:)
Yeah, now you need to get some Marzipan in the middle of summer 😀
How is marzipan bread without sugar if you just read the ingredients containing sugar :) the marzipan is made with sugar... Humm

I look for marzipan in the shops during Christmas 🎄 but it's all stollen...
Yeah, that's kind of the most popular Marzipan product from East Germany. But Lübeck has much more to offer.
