My favorite honestly is Philly Cheese steak! Onion, green bell pepper, rib-eye, mushroom and 4 slices of white American ( also called brick) cheese .Served in a french type bread or baguette. Thin slice the meat and onions and mushrooms, peppers and fry on a pan or flat- top grill adding chili powder, salt and pepper. Lightly toast the bread, put 4 slices of white cheese and add the meat, onion mushroom and bell pepper filling. *Warning, you won't eat another sandwich that compares to it. Ever.
My fathers family came from Germany to Texas in 1834. They settled in Fredericksburg and fanned out to Grapetown which became Lukenbach and established Gruene, Texas just outside of New Braunfels. Most of those foods you have shown, i've had pleasure of eating! Thank you for your recipes so I can make them for me and my non-German friends!

Mmmh, everything looked so delicious. Very good recommendations, just love it. Schmalz is my favourite, in Berlin you have that on a special role called Schusterjunge, it's a role made of rye flour. It's so good. One of my grandaunts in Poland, she made that fantastic fried cheese with caraway seeds. I don't know the name, but it was so good on her bread.
The Arme Ritter is like what we call French Toast. I like it with real maple syrup. The Rumpsteak auf Brot looks really good, I am going to have to make that. I really enjoy your videos.
I think Ihave several favorite sandwiches. my mom used a meat grinder and ground up stick bolonga, dill pickles, mid in a little mayonnaise and made a sandwich spread that is so delicious! that was my favorite one.
When you're in a bar and its getting later and you're getting hungry and the bars kitchen is already closed. You miiight get lucky and they still make you a Strammer Max or a Baguette-Hawaii. That what makes those two so great. Also, very well executed! As usual.
Thank you for sharing, highly appreciated.👍 I don’t know so many dishes & recipes before; just made the one with egg & green onions; I’ll try more. The last one is looked like luxurious, maybe served at supper. Now I stay at Taiwan temporarily, I found there’re many fruits here; referring to pizzas, I’ll try to put some pieces of fruits to see what taste will be. Usually I learn the traditional & make new changes, similar to R&D, wish no failure.😀 Looking forward to your next videos. Have a nice season.❤️
Moin Marta. I've had most of those at one time or another. I still make my own schmaltz whenever we have a beef joint. I fry onions in the dripping and then let it cool. Lovely on toast.
another great video! i've been looking forward to it. i have to admit i liked the last two best, although i don't eat pork - doesn't agree with me, so i would probably substitute something else.
At girl scout camp in the USA we often made Pi-Che-Ham sandwiches, which are similar to the Hawaiian one. It is a hamburger bun, ham, cheese and pineapple wrapped in tin foil and heated on the coals of the fire until the cheese melts.
is there a popular cheese spread mixed with chopped pineapple sold already mixed? I love this spread on a thick warm slice of banana bread. this used to be very popular in the states back in the 50's and 60's.
I've had Schmalzbrot in Berlin. It was good. I'm actually a big fan of German rye bread. On my trip to Bamberg, I had it with Limburger cheese, which was marinated in vinegar with onions. I'd love to try those others, but I'd skip the apples. Häckerle seems worth trying at home.
@@cooking-the-world I noticed that Kochkäse is quite heavy with all that butter, cheese, cream and sour cream (I guess), but I'd love to try it. I just think that Harzer Käse is not available here in Finland.
Clemens Wilmenroth was a tv-actor. In the 50's many goods were exported from Germany to the US. The USA ordered, that Germany had to by American goods. Canned pineapples had been one of them. Toast Hawaii had been created, to make that uncommon fruit popular in Germany. Sometimes I cook such a toast with fresh pineapple, good ham and gruyere cheese. And of course nothing on top.
😲 Waaaah, you didn't mention my favorite! Bauernbrot, ein berg fleischsalat, zwei spiegeleier (eigelb sehr weich, rander knusprig), schnittlauch oben drauf. 😭 Strammer max...I forgot all about them. Will have to make soon. danke, danke
Don't see to many open face sandwiches here, some restaraunts have Hot beef served that way. (Roast beef and gravy) and I have seen poached eggs served on toast.Looks delicious, not sure of the pineapple one though. 😉
Hahahaha! Leberkäsesemmel rocks! No, the small one still enjoys breast milk. But lately, he was showing some interest in wine :D I think he likes the shape of the glass though. We will need to introduce real food maybe in a month or two but for the moment he seems to be happy with what he gets:)
Several US open face sandwich 1. Open face roast beef with provolone and brown gravy 2. Hot Kentucky Brown which is toast bread, turkey slices, roasted slice tomato, Bechtel sauce, and bacon. 3. Mashed Avocado on toast or Avocado eggs on teach. 4. Tuna salad on toast 5. Chicken salad on toast
And what is your favorite sandwich?
The last one! 🥰🍻
The egg on the ham looked great.

The second to last, with pork medallions and the mushroom & onion sauce! 😋 I'm going to make that one as soon as possible.
My favorite is sprouted grain bread toasted with guacamole 🥑 fried egg 🍳 on top garnished with fresh cilantro and chipotle hot sauce
Thank you for sharing these wonderful sandwiches 😊

Toast hawaii is a classic one and it is nearly gone in restaurants
Growing up in the USA my father said it was common to have lard spread on homemade bread for sandwiches when they worked in the fields.

Where I grew up we always ate Hawaii toast and Jäger toast....Jäger toast is instead the pineapple on the Hawaii toast, it's musrooms ....
Oh i would love that Jäger Toast 🤩
