The differences are of course much more evident live, being able to hear and feel the sound and vibrations in the same room. Unfortunately though, we know that with these microphones this is the best we can get and that they all sound very similar (which again, is not the case in real life), however we decided to post it anyways so that you can be a part of it!
If someone wants to gift us more and better microphones or, why not, a recording studio we’d be happy to repeat the experience and record it again hahahaha 😋
Winner is the bogaro and clemente, cello sounds better and from the way he played, I can tell that he felt more comfortable to play on that endpin since he was playing much more in tune and relaxed. Thanks for the video ! Next time I’m in Cremona I’ll visit you :)
Now this is a cool video, I've been searching for stuff like this in the past. Must have taken ages to make :-P Of course it's difficult to hear as much of a difference as I know you can in the room. I find even the floor you're playing on makes a noticeable difference in person, but considering that, I believe I do hear a difference, at least between the materials. I'm definitely fan of carbon fiber, but this did reignite my interest in titanium endpins as well. I can't afford doing a test like this myself, but I'll certainly consider titanium for my upcoming Strad model cello, which I want to be mainly projecting and brilliant. One question I have though, is the endpin socket the same, and you're just changing the pin itself? What material is the socket in that case?

Long time Ago a was using in my last cello titanium and I changed to carbon fiber! Now I have another cello I will try different end pins! Thank you for your video!

@@LucasFabro Quando rifate la prova fammelo sapere che mi piacerebbe assistere dal vivo, in effetti la qualità audio di youtube è piuttosto compressa e rende meno evidenti le differenze. Comunque scoltando in cuffia sono anche io d'accordo con le vostre conclusioni, la fibra di carbonio sembra quella che rende meglio con il tuo violoncello. Interessante anche il Mitsuke. PS: Non vedo le info nella descrizione, ma forse UA-cam non ha ancora aggiornato.
It is hard to hear a clear distinction between different endpins. It's nice that you provided physical information such as material, weight and found velocity! I wonder if you can compare the frequency distribution between different takes (averaged over the whole song) and draw more quantitative conclusions on differences? Maybe some type of material allows to project more bass or tremble? Or they damp resonance? Or move them? It would be great if you can perform such a comparison ! Grazie per il messaggio e scusa per il tempo che ci ho messo a rispondere. Di solito per un suono più chiuso si entende uno che non rimane nell'aria. Che "fa fatica" ad uscire ed allontanarsi dallo strumento. Mentre che focused è un suono molto "diretto"; quindi ha una direzzione molto "focallizata". A volte, sono quei strumenti che a se ti metti d'avvanti mentre li suonano sembra che ti spaccano le orecchie, però se ti menti di fianco, li senti molto più bassi o diversi. Un saluto!
Oh, for this cello in particular I ended up going for the Durod (although the carbon fibre ones were really really close so it was a very difficult choice), but it can really change from instrument to instrument so I always have to check :)

Mistuke and Bender brass win on recording.
I wasn't a fan of the brass one for this instrument (and for my own taste), but the Mitsueke one was lovely in every way!
