Hi I'm an Italian pediatric resident. I'm currently in my fourth year of residency and I'm rotating in NICU. In Italy neonatal resus in the delivery room/ operating theatre is led by the physician (pediatrician/neonatologist). Usually the resuscitation team is composed by a resident, an attending and a nurse. What is it like in other country?
They attend high risk deliveries, but they don't deliver babies. Midwives do that, and they're also advanced practice nurses. One of the things I love about the NNP profession is that you can do so many different things. You go on transport on helicopters and ground vehicles. You attend high risk deliveries. You can see it all, and that excites me!
