I can only remark that I wish I had been there. I also remark that I doubt if the first is any better than the second, only less familiar in retrospect. Bravo five-plus months later!
Suite 1 - Menuet 2, 1st half - Eb then E-nat, which is the way it's printed in my copy, and the way I like it 😀Others do E natural both times, or Eb both times. Any thoughts?
Hi Stephen - somehow I learned it this way and it just stuck. I'm not a scholar at all! I think I was confirmed in the notes I play because of a book I once read. I was curious after your question and checked to see what Anner Bylsma does. He plays E natural always! Funny enough, in the D minor sarabande, as a tribute to Bylsma - I play some notes at the end of that which I think are most likely wrong.....but I did it as a sort of tribute to Bylsma, who played and defended those notes with tremendous passion. I think of him when that moment passes by - even though in my heart I think there is a good chance they are wrong. It's a strange road to get to the bowings and notes in these suites, eh?
A hidden gem of a recording, one the best performance I’ve ever heard, elevated by some of the finest acoustics imaginable.
You’re my hero. Just stellar interpretation and execution. I’m blown away. Thank you so much. PS Courante #1 = ❤️
One of the most beautiful moments that a human makes. Thank you.

Thank you Phil! I wish you could've been there too. It's a perfect church for Solo Bach.
Love these ❤️
I'm very glad. Thank you :)
