This band understands Telemann. I trust them, but they are not just interpreters, they mix their own hearts and souls with respect. They bring his music into our times like he could not have imagined, but maybe hoped. Well done and thank you Bremer B. Best wishes.
My favorite rendition - I keep coming back to it. I really appreciate how they don’t push the tempo and really take their time with each phrase, it’s heartwarming ❤
I have always felt that Telemann was the most Romantic of Barock composers ; indeed this performance brings this element out in a beautiful way . I love the energy in the last movement where everyone is dancing to the upbeat rhythm . Thank you for the music . Greetings from Cairo , Egypt
Telemann played multiple instruments himself, and could be considered autodidact. So maybe that explains his intimitate understanding of the reach and limitations, the harmonic possibilities and funny dissonants that could be created.
Practice hard and you'll get there. Do you take private lessons? It's essential if you want to go anywhere with it. I'm reminded of a story about the late Jascha Heifetz who, in his time was considered to be one of the best (if not the best) violinists in the world. A man approached him and in accent that sounded much more like Kansas than NYC. Not recognizing the famous musician, he asked, "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" To which Heifetz responded, "Practice, practice, practice." If you would like to hear what made him so great, take a listen to this recording of the third movement of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major: ua-cam.com/video/HMRYcj0ruQw/v-deo.html. No, it's not viola, but it's some damn good playing!
I was trying to figure out why her playing looked "weird" and then I realized her viola doesn't have a chin rest. First time I see someone playing without one, didn't even consider it was a possibility! Superb interpretation.
There is also the chin rest callus issue. Violin and violist get this weird rash looking stain on their chin. Guys probably don’t give a damn but a lady
Wonderful rendition of this piece. I admire the use of period instruments. As a violist, I am inspired to re-visit this piece. This ensemble is superb!
This is a true masterpiece of video by Tobias Hentze. He has captured the joy and synergy of this ensemble. Watching Hugo de Rodas on the baroque guitar in the final movement is worth the entire experience. Hats off to Bremer Baroque. This is a true joint effort by all.
I remember decades ago getting together with David Munrow, Chris Hogwood, Nic McGegan and others in what was at first somewhat like a pick up band with a qwerk in that we were doing research in an attempt to learn as much as we could about the way the way they played these obviously different instruments. Before each get together we would present what we had learned and discussed it before getting our toys out of their cases so that we could begin playing the night away. We eventually realized that we had something going and thus the Early Music Consort of London was born. When David died we were at a bit of a loss trying to decide what we should do next. Most of EMCL's music had been Renaissance music which used entirely different instruments than those used used roughly from the beginning of the Baroque period on. Many of us wanted to play the instruments on which we had been trained on (the Baroque version thereof) and do the same kind of research we'd done in the EMCL. Chris took the initiative, and so in this abridged pamphlet version, the Academy of Ancient Music was formed. In these closing days of my life it makes me happy to see how all our hard work has blossomed and how so many of the best of the up and coming young artists and orchestras have taken up the cause, such as Bremer Barockorchester and Tomoe Badiarova. I was a violist and I can say authoritatively that Ms. Badiarova has done an excellent job and has a bright future ahead of her.
This is great concerto played with passion and understanding. The viola is a relatively quiet instrument and sometimes it is overpowered by the band but the playing of soloist and band is outstanding.
, Niederlande
Beautiful performance! The soloist is amazing and the orchestra provides that nice wave of accompaniment she needed to ride, especially during the 2nd and 4th movements.
I first heard this lovely piece while traveling to Canada maybe 30 years ago. It blew me away then. Rarely have I heard it played with so much feeling and gusto. A truly superb interpretation by Bremer Barockorchester. Bravo.
wow that Violaist is amazing, great live recording definitely my favorite recording of Telemann's viola concert in g major I've ever heard. (and I've heard a lot of them)
A lovely viola concerto! Great little orchestra with real panache at presentation! I suppose what really attracts me to Telemann is his seamless absorption of folk influences from his early career into the more aristocratic baroque vein. The finale is a fine example of this; so subtle but adding so much in the sense of audience empathy. A (still) underrated master of orchestration as well as composition.
Spectacular. One of my favorite videos on UA-cam, period. Marvelous performance and truly inspiring for an amateur violist who has removed his shoulder rest and chin rest - and now plays with a baroque-style bow. Bravo. And a thousand thanks.
Such a beautiful sound from the solo viola -especially as it's being played using the Baroque setup! I would even guess that this viola would be "more powerful" with a chinrest, shoulder rest, and modern bow. Yet: it doesn't need that to make a beautiful bold sound. That viola truly is a great instrument :) Lovely rendition of Telemann! Well done!
The first movement has such a lovely melody. And this is the first time to listen to the viola concerto actually, I found that Telemann was a talented composer and well knew about the trend of the Baroque period.
Thank you, Bremer Barockorchester, for sharing this once again. Your 'oldies' are really 'goldies' for us, your true fans. I wish you all the best from faraway Finland. I do hope that you can get back to normal circumstances very soon!
Always loved this concerto. Have it on CD from Musica Antiqua Koln. I play violin but got a chance to experiment with viola in high school and enjoyed it. I got lucky a decade ago when I traded an old guitar for a viola from China from a fellow teacher. It sounds nice and warm, and I definitely got the better part of the trade. Oddly enough, I play violin and viola in a modern worship/praise group in my church, and accompany a typical rock band setup. I play violin when the songs are upbeat and I have to pierce through the electric guitars and drums. However, when we play quieter songs, I solo or play along with viola in open parts with little or no vocal. I get positive comments from the congregation, though they think I'm playing my violin and don't know the difference. We had a quieter acoustic set for Good Friday this year, playing toned down versions of praise songs, and the viola was absolutely perfect for the mood and somber tone of the service. I also use it at my school as accompaniment for piano on similar songs. Sometimes I get more pleasure when I play viola. It seems to fit my personality. I can't describe it. There are so many viola jokes online. Feel like I'm giving the viola a little more respect.
An impeccable & exquisite version!! reminds me somewhat of the famous 1719 Pisendel dedicated Piece! Glorious tone on this fabulous Viola! Was once used in many Lifts! This is surely UPLifting!!! ;-}
The viola is essentially a coloristic instrument that adds nuances to the violins but in this concerto it is featured to sing alone its naked exquisite dark sonority.
Amazing I really like this very much . The way the performers really seem to enjoy playing this concerto added to my enjoyment particularly true of the soloist during the faster movement of this piece thank you so much
Eccellente!!! Complimenti alla Signora Badiarov! Molto brava.
great performance! I'm also playing the viola inamture orechestra, and I love Tomoe-san's sound very much! and when she plays viola she is smiling. also nice.
Delightful interpretation, real, crispy and bold sound. The viola is nothing but superb. I´m in a curfew, as everybody throughout the world in these weird times. A difficult piece of Herr Telemann but you guys didn´t miss a single note. Thank you so much. Loved it!

i love the fact that you call this a band ☺️ it’s actually what they would call it back in the day
@@gatozarin Cheers!
The viola has a very warm rich tone to it, reminds me of sitting in a grass field and the sun shining
thanks mozart
Love to hear your opinion, Mozart😂
Difinitely tele's fan here haha... But the music very... Fine to my ears 🤌
My favorite rendition - I keep coming back to it. I really appreciate how they don’t push the tempo and really take their time with each phrase, it’s heartwarming ❤
Gusta en Europa, África, America, Asía y Oceanía. Gustaba hace 400 años, ahora y siempre. Universal.
Hartelijk dank

Yes, Farid, i love the third part too, great beautiful energy
My favorite viola concerto! Just sublime! Telemann captured the warm, plaintive sound of the viola so perfectly.
Brian Knapp because he was a coolest so truly understood the instrument on reason I love his work
Telemann played multiple instruments himself, and could be considered autodidact. So maybe that explains his intimitate understanding of the reach and limitations, the harmonic possibilities and funny dissonants that could be created.
Imagine, this is the very first viola concerto ever written!
anisuthideyakoindu Really?
It is so nice to hear how the viola and the orchestra alternate, putting some of the best sounds that the viola is able to produce. Very nice music.
The andante features some magical high-register passes!

I'm a violist. I am practicing this right now. Kinda challenging. This interpretation is pretty nice.
David Cipriano hey i'm also practising this right now :)
can you tell me when the 3rd mvt starts??
It begins at 6:22.
Hey I'm a Cellist and I'm practising this too
I'd love to hear this on a cello
Totally doable

One of the more underrated concertos imo.
This has helped many people get through COVID-19
Oh really?
But it is wonderfully beautiful, nostalgic at the same time
I was trying to figure out why her playing looked "weird" and then I realized her viola doesn't have a chin rest. First time I see someone playing without one, didn't even consider it was a possibility! Superb interpretation.
She is playing in the baroque style - no chin rest and the tuning is a half step lower than the current 440.
There is also the chin rest callus issue. Violin and violist get this weird rash looking stain on their chin. Guys probably don’t give a damn but a lady
Looking at her, I think she cares quite a bit about her appearance, so it's likely she's doing something to prevent said stain.
@@johnries5593 no look at all the other instruments, they are just all baroque
They are playing on period instruments with no shoulder or chin rest, as well as a different bow
I LOVE how they smile at each other sometimes. They feel they did it perfect!
The tone of the viola wins hands down for me every time. So much more expressive and sensitive.
The music of this orchestra pierces the heart and heaven.
Wonderful rendition of this piece. I admire the use of period instruments. As a violist, I am inspired to re-visit this piece. This ensemble is superb!
I like Telemann viola concert! I'm practicing this!!
I have an audition for the Symphony Orchestra…. with Jesus …. 🙏
Gracias infinitas a Bremer Barockorchester

Loved Telemann all my life. So delicate, so sublime. mMerci !
No tan pomposo como Haendel; no tan complejo como Bach; no tan stereotipado como Vivaldi. Y tan prolífico como el que más! 😊
My first violin teacher also taught viola and one of his viola students played this and it's one of my favorite pieces ever

Fantastico Concerto. Telemann è un Gigante della Music Barocca. Saluti da Lecce 🤗😎👋💕
The sound of a baroque viola is so lovely... I wish my modern instrument could replicate it.
Beautiful performance! The soloist is amazing and the orchestra provides that nice wave of accompaniment she needed to ride, especially during the 2nd and 4th movements.
Wonderful tone of the viola, played expertly. I have always thought that more music should've been written for it.
Work, professionalism, modesty, honesty... and the result is superb. Thank you so much for playing so well.

wow that Violaist is amazing, great live recording definitely my favorite recording of Telemann's viola concert in g major I've ever heard. (and I've heard a lot of them)

For me the best version of Allegro II, played by Tomoe Badiarova on this big violin (and not only physically difficult)

This interpretation is awesome. An incredible viola concerto.

Such a delightfully light interpretation. The whole thing delights a violist's ear.
A big thank you Bremer Barockorchester! It is an absolute joy listening to your interpretations.
So good, it almost hurts.
My first thought from looking at the ensamble was that woman is a great violinist. Ach! A great violist.
Why did telepurte bring me to these wonderful people.
perfection via viola. never heard this played so perfectly. sublime.
Quel talent cette femme. Stupéfiante.
Concerto meraviglioso, capolavoro assoluto.
A lovely and "fun" piece, as the youngsters say. Bravi tutti e onori al grande Telemann

Everything about this is exquisite.
