Rodimus's Cab looks like an APC you can attach a Trailer to. I mean in the movie he held two Armored Humans so it's quite Roomy inside like a Warthog or the Mako.
@TFSoniCloverProductions I mean it’s worth shaving it down because you could have a better chance of snapping it anyways cause it’s connected to clear plastic
The gap that forms when you plug the car into the trailer gets resolved by the fact that it plugs in farther removing the gap. There is a peg that should also help hold it in place
I thought the same about both Rodimus and Hotrod (being sold as a Voyager). But having them both in-hand, the extra engineering, detail, and everything else kind of do soften the blow.
@@raydenlord I kind of dislike the hot rod figure now. I loved the SS one at first but his loose and weird knee, his joint colors, and the amount of translucent plastic that makes it feel like it would snap at any moment really sets me off
Sorry if someone else already pointed this out, but you can push him farther back into the trailer so that there’s no gap between the end of his spoiler and the edge of the spoiler slot. There’s a tab underneath the trailer that will tab into the slot on the top of his spoiler.
A word of warning: It’s probably not a good idea to store his effects parts in the tray under his trailer. The soft plastic can melt away hard plastic. I just opened my Rodimus this morning and one of the blast effects had melted a deep scar in to the blade of his sword since they were shipped in the same baggy.

Personally, i LOVE this guy. He feels fantastic. The trailer coulda used work to stay shut better, but overall i think its fantastic. i feel you get quite the good amount for what you pay with plenty of play and posing options. He feels like he took the studio series and then put it on steroids with a trailer attached with more steroids inside. some argue he isnt worth 80$ and by all means thats fine, but i feel like this is the closest thing we will have to a master piece rodimus. at least until a 3rd party company or takara does something actually masterpiece like for this character. Personally i love this figures paint, sculpt, and transformation. So I love it. i dont really have an attachment to the character, i just genuinely like this figure. thats my take on it.
He also liked the figure which im glad about. this dude is one of my favorites in my collection. i got him for 80$ and i think its worth it. not all mainline figures have shit like moving fingers. i think they took their budget and used it well. The trailer needed little work, but the figure alone is worth it. anyways sorry for the rambles. i just think kingdom rodimus is great.
"The wing is transparant plastic with yellow paint" Ah that hurts, just a small paint chip and the illusion will be broken. I understand the appeal of a painted look, but they should make the plastic underneath a similar color so it still looks good after a year of play.
MP Hot Rod V2 is the same, chrome exhausts? BRIGHT ORANGE plastic underneath! ... why not f'king GREY?!? Just make the wing yellow, what a stupid idea to not do.
Depending on the copy you get, the paint chip risk is nearly rendered moot because the paint ain't applied well enough to begin with - you can definitely see some of the translucent blue plastic under certain parts of the yellow with my copy of Rodimus.
From what I've seen this figure is amazing and I do want to pick him up, but I feel like if they can make Optimus a leader and give him his trailer, surely they could have done the same here? Optimus didn't come with Roller whereas Rodimus comes with a huge cannon. Optimus didn't come with a ton of etxtras, Rodimus does. I feel like the extra bits have inflated the price, but I also think they're cool extras. I'm really torn. I might wait to see if it comes down in price a bit before I pull the trigger.
Also, Rodimus's cannon is much bigger (and more accurate) than that half-assed excuse for Optimus's repair drone. Not to mention the added features that are clearly copy-pasted concepts from the MP44 Convoy (Optimus Prime) 3.0 playbook (the small storage tray under the trailer, and you can attach the cannon almost anywhere on the trailer, or even to Rodimus himself, the folding gun that has stupid ways of attaching, etc.). As for Rodimus...the added plastic, parts count, & engineering would've just barely jacked up him up to the Leader class price point by himself; he's a bit heavier than Earthrise Optimus, and has a more complex transformation. Factor in the trailer & paint, and yeah, that adds up, annoyingly. Guess it really ate up the paint budget: the rims on the wheels are unpainted, and the spoiler could've definitely used a couple more thin coats so the base translucent blue plastic doesn't show through so much...because even the slightest bit at this price point or even the Leader class price point, is just bad QC management. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ Just look at SS86-4 Hot Rod. He's the SIZE of a smaller Deluxe, but has the parts count and possibly the engineering of what his price point wound up, which is a Voyager.
I'm a huge Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime fan and just got my hands on this one through eBay for $40 and he was worth every penny, thankfully the seller didnt have the box so I was able to display him and he had every single piece still and I love the size and quality of him. So it all depends on which character you love, youll pay what you feel its worth, I prefer the Autobots but there are a few Decepticons I love as well
Got my Rodimus today, and I too was having the same issue you were with the two halves... then I pushed the right side into the clip on the back, causing it all to fit nicely after closing the left side after. Might help if you leave the back door area open to clip it in. I do hear the pleasant sound of things fitting together.
My favourite part about the figure is how it really makes rodimus look like a prime Cause I’m g1 he was just tall hot rod but this figure really brings out the true PRIME in him

Great review! I never owned the fiest G1 toy of Rodimus back in the 80's. Now I just want to have this one and the Galvatron Figure as well. After seeing the first five episodes of Fives Faces of Darkness I immediately checked out the Movie and damn as kid it was tough to see Optimus Prime die after he had defeated Megatron. And yet I began to appreciate and accept Rodimus Prime as the new leader of the Autobots. My only gripe with season 3 is that there some points in his character arc that I found very strange. Like blowing up the new Cybertron where peacefull autobots were being enslaved by Galvatron and not making a big deal out of it ( it was their freaking home) ..not very Prime like Imo. And his constant struggle of self doubt to compare himself to Optimus Prime as a leader gave the character more depth but the writers overstretched this trait too much. You would think that even with the self doubt that Rodimus would tap into the acient knowledge, experiences and wisdom of previous Autobot Leaders to guide him during his time as Autobot Commander.
For $80 USD you get a Rodimus Prime figure with the engineering level of an oldschool Masterpiece carbot. That also originally would’ve run around $80 to get from Japan. All the extra engineering like the wheel transformations and extending lower arms would never be featured at a Voyager level. Plus with Rodimus you get the entire trailer, too. I’d say there’s plenty to offer.
I found this guy at walmart then had to go through the pain of trying to tell my wife why it's so much lol. But out the box he is so much better then any of my kingdom figures.
I don't know about leader his weight and mass is similar too skylynx and jetfire just a little less.but he does have engineering and complex transformation way above jetfire and skylynx
id say yeah since his weight and mass is really near same with jetfire and skylynx, and pretty much double the leader class weight . Just that he a little lighter than the other commander class but he does have more engineering into him compare to skylynx and jetfire , who both has simple engineering + transformation.
@@Central_Zensation yeah I didnt say whose better, all I said was the engineering on rodimus is miles better and more complex than jetfire. Not that there is anything wrong with being more simple, it all depends on the design of said character
@@Central_Zensation because to me if weight and mass don't add up the engineering needs to step up to make it worth it. In rodimus case he got both commander class weight and complex engineering to back his case
Lucky for me I was able to find him on Amazon for 58 USD because, he was used for two seconds and the box was a bit beat up. They only thing that looked like had been taken out was the trailer and the figure itself. The big cannon was still strapped in and the weapon baggie wasn't touched. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the cardboard tray was upside down and Rodimus, in vehicle form, took a nose dive right on the cuticle of one of my little toes. ;( Besides losing one of my toes. He is pretty good! lol
If this exact same toy had come out sometime between 2000-2010, maybe even a larger range of as early as 1995-2016, this toy would've been $30.00 U.S. at the most. If it was released just 10 years ago you could walk into Walmart and buy it for $30.00. Found 2 in a Wal-Mart last week and it is $79.97. The main reason this toy is so overpriced is the U.S. dollar has lost that much value. In order for them to make enough profit they have to charge that much more. The toy in of itself though is pretty awesome. I think its the single best Rodimus Prime toy that's been made. I would like to see them go ahead and make it in a Masterpiece version just to see if it would be even better as they'd have more room to work with by making it a larger scale and maybe have even more articulation and maybe a more intricate transformation. If nothing else it would look fantastic in Masterpiece scale alongside the other Masterpiece characters.
I can’t recommend this guy enough. He’s not as big as Jetfire or Skylynx, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in quality. There’s no way they could have achieved what they did here at the voyager, or even the normal leader price. He’s fantastic.
Got him in a bundle with IDW blurr and Kingdom Wheeljack for $95 and $5 shipping, must say in very happy with my purchase cuz 2/3 figures were amazing.
I'd love for a transformers series to start from microcons have them be about 1/20 and scale everything up from there so we can have bigger versions of stuff like this masterpiece also opens them up for more customisation less kibble and more detail it has nothing to do with me wanting a a matrix flat glass table held up by 4 combiners that actually transform
It is absolutely worth it, he brings a presence when next to galvatron and like I had like the box set of dvds of the 3rd season and I would watch that on repeat for hours and it was alright but it was still a great figure
The short answer is no. The long answer is it would probably be worth a leader price but what's included here does not make a voyager worth a commander price.
There is one thing you did wrong. I was making the same mistake loads when I first got it. The car fits in all the way, until it clicks. Timestamp: 4:35 Just a tip. (I turned the playback speed down, and saw that your hood panels pop off too. I AM NOT ALONE! Literally, the EXACT same panel falls of on mine!)
Im going to be honest, I severely hope the next commander we get is just a figure that is stupidly huge, like jetfire, or skylynx. I really hope the commander class doesn’t become great, stunning figures, with even more meh accessories. I at least hope motormaster will be leader scale
Weakest commander for sure, bit of a shame too since Jetfire and Sky Lynx are incredible pieces that fans have asked for FOR YEARS. would've preferred someone else but at least Motormaster will have more going on so it's not a trend going forward
I am honestly really happy with him, best Rodimus we've had ever. The price thing goes back to leader price point for Shockwave, astrotrain, voyager price point for hot rod. I like all those figures as well but honestly feel less ripped for the price of this Rodimus than those other figures. Not that I'm complaining about the other ones either because I liked the quality we got in those figures better than say Rhinox who was a voyager at the right price point 🤔 idk I leave it to preference and opinion as far as other ppls wallets go but I am really happy with this Rodimus
the thing about these modern transformers figures is that the price is outrageous for the amount of accessories and especially the size for me. but I don't really bother that because I like how now i can buy high quality figures and don't have to worry about scaling.
I think for the price they're asking for it they should have painted all the rims on his wheels silver. And maybe tried to make the spoilers yellow match the flame decal on his chest better, instead it looks like this weird "yellow painted over black plastic". I don't knowhow else to describe it, its just a weird, off yellow. Edit: 5:52 This shot, showing the underneath of the spoiler, best shows what I mean.
The engineering should not be a part of the price point of the figure, I mean, the engineering cost is integrated in all the figures in the toyline, just because it is inevitable that some figures will have better engineering than others, regardless of size/price point. Remember that all figures now come with anle pivot, the only metric for price pointing a figure should be size and amount of plastic, and remember he is not jumping from voyager to leader, he is jumping from voyager to commander just for the trailer that nobody is going to use anyways, but since the figure is good, they decided that people would still pay for it, as we are all doing.
For Rodimus, his size means they have additional budget to add to him after the trailer. Articulated fingers, collapsible wheels, butterfly joints, and side skirts all adds to the part count, and all of which would not come through if he is not commander class. Skyfire and Sky Lynx might be larger, but they are way simpler than the Rodimus' robot mode alone.
Seems like a cool dude really does but it's size is a bit to big for the collection I have so I'll stick with SS 86 hotrod as he is alright, Id be cool if somehow they made a smaller trailer for ss hotrod. Great video tho
I REALLY like the way it looks and is built, for me it's worth, but, I still don't care about the trailer. so I'll wait to see if they do a stand alone figure at some point. besides I love the car mode for rodimus more than the trailer look
Honestly I really want this guy. On my shelf my 86 hot rod is posed holding out the matrix with the matrix effect. So if I get this guy I’m planning on putting Rodimus behind hot rod holding the matrix higher
I paid $85 but less than 30 days later, he was on sale for $50, so I returned my $85 one, got the $50 one, and had enough left over to get Siege Springer I think it was, might've been someone else, but it was a voyager. Oh, I totally sanded down ss86 wing just enough for him to fit in the trailer lol. So, Rodimus is big enough to carry a voyager figure in his trailer. True chug collectors will get the joke lmao
Whoever got my old Roddy as used got some cool upgrades. His wheels were silver, his little light over flap things that always pop off, were on there solid, his trailer closed, legs stayed closed, and his chest clicked in to place really easily but stayed put on bot mode. Unfortunately "or is it?" I forgot to put the blast effects back in the box. But it was an honest mistake, and maybe the new owner never knowing the issues that particular example had is a good thing. The new one I got really seemed like a different figure all together. Much more well put together, even the plastic seems better quality. Which I know is nuts. But I can't argue what I see and feel.
the figure is good, the trailer is a nightmare. mine doesn't open correctly because the spring of the pipe piece blocks it on one side so it has to be held away manually, the trailer doesn't open when the car is stuck in because of the car's wing, and the trailer doesn't close properly. I really regret buying this and might replace it with the SS86 version because I'm so frustrated.
A friend of mine bought this Rodimus as a present and as a voyager class figure he is perfect in regards to how he looks, articulation, engineering and paint. But the trailer and accesories feel like a waste of plastic that doesn't justify the price and only serves for those that only display their figures, unfortunately in playability this extra stuff is really boring and uninspired compared to Jetfire and Skylinx who had way more playability and play value than this Rodimus. Get him on sale for at best 60USD or just wait for a repaint without the extra stuff, this figure it's not worth the Comander class price and anyone saying otherwise is in denial. Hopefully Motormaster will live up to expectations with his play value compared to Rodimus and his......box.
Got mines a while back and love it, until transforming and connecting the chest to the back it is a hard piece to connect to the point I stressed the plastic, that’s how hard it is to plug the chest piece
I really think I want to get him but like, if they release him with a different head and colour scheme, I’ll definitely get him but as of now I don’t think I can because I’m not that fond of those bits visually
About to grab one of these used for $40US. Doesn't have the trailer or the accessories but I think it's worrh it, and I can always buy the trailer separate off ebay.

id say yeah since his weight and mass is really near same with jetfire and skylynx, and pretty much double the leader class weight . Just that he a little lighter than the other commander class but he does have more engineering into him compare to skylynx and jetfire , who both has simple engineering + transformation.
Id say rodimus is good, but jetfire is still the best commander class in my opinion
@@Central_Zensation yeah I didnt say whose better, all I said was the engineering on rodimus is miles better and more complex than jetfire. Not that there is anything wrong with being more simple, it all depends on the design of said character
@@quickshot112 agreed. Rodimus definitely has more engineering by far
@@Central_Zensation because to me if weight and mass don't add up the engineering needs to step up to make it worth it. In rodimus case he got both commander class weight and complex engineering to back his case
@@Central_Zensation I have Fans Toys' FT-10X Phoenix, and I still want a Jetfire. It's an excellent figure.
You didn't push the car all the way into the trailer
Which deluxe is that on 5:00 mark?
Got him for $100 CAD from BBTS! I'm stoked to ship it
Yes it is and it’s also worth an extra 20-30 to get it early on Amazon
No its not
@@razorshark6790 I disagree.
@@pessimisticprofessorfarnsw3241 50 dollars would be more worth it
@@razorshark6790 this is so much more than a leader class. In hand it’s a masterpiece.
@@pessimisticprofessorfarnsw3241 no ratchet joints at all
Lucky for me I was able to find him on Amazon for 58 USD because, he was used for two seconds and the box was a bit beat up. He is pretty good! lol
Where'd this toy guy come from. Great videos and fresh format.
I have this hot rod
I was looking for reviews❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
I got this guy off Amazon on sale for $40 a while back. 110% worth it for that price.
There's a gap because you don't have him pushed all the way back into his trailer! There's a peg that's supposed to snap into his wing spoiler!
Isn’t that gun from POTP Hot Rod/Rodimus?
I can’t recommend this guy enough. He’s not as big as Jetfire or Skylynx, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in quality. There’s no way they could have achieved what they did here at the voyager, or even the normal leader price. He’s fantastic.
They absolutely could. I'm not sure what you're basing this argument on.
@@DiggitySlice I just don’t see how this level of detail, articulation, quality material and accessories could have been done for leader price.
Short Answer: Yes
Got him in a bundle with IDW blurr and Kingdom Wheeljack for $95 and $5 shipping, must say in very happy with my purchase cuz 2/3 figures were amazing.
2/3?
And I'm glad that the trailer didn't increase the price by 100%. Making jobbytheHong sell his guts
Excellent idea!
As a kid I could never accept that he took over for Optimus and still can't to this day lol
Personally, i would buy it
It is absolutely worth it, he brings a presence when next to galvatron and like I had like the box set of dvds of the 3rd season and I would watch that on repeat for hours and it was alright but it was still a great figure
I got him for $50.
The short answer is no.
The long answer is it would probably be worth a leader price but what's included here does not make a voyager worth a commander price.
I'm sorry, but the trailer isn't worth it. I would have just been fine with them just selling the figure at leader price.
Still thrilled I managed to get this dude for 65 AUD.
There is one thing you did wrong. I was making the same mistake loads when I first got it. The car fits in all the way, until it clicks.

Just a tip.
I'm in a waiting room for Commander Class overlord
@@hexroberts7204 this, these are the kind of characters that deserve commander class figures
Weakest commander for sure, bit of a shame too since Jetfire and Sky Lynx are incredible pieces that fans have asked for FOR YEARS. would've preferred someone else but at least Motormaster will have more going on so it's not a trend going forward
When are we getting a 86 Rodimus with a younger face and a more accurate vehicle mode.
firstly wanted to see your opinion before I buy secondly where did you get that nemiss prime
sirtoys, but it is also on amazon although i think it costs more there
I am honestly really happy with him, best Rodimus we've had ever.
This figure is great, but I vastly prefer MP-9.
the thing about these modern transformers figures is that the price is outrageous for the amount of accessories and especially the size for me. but I don't really bother that because I like how now i can buy high quality figures and don't have to worry about scaling.
At 129,000 KRW on Hasbro Korea, I feel ya too.
I thought the ss86 aesthetic was just slightly less detailed wfc. It never bothered me how they looked together.
I hope to get one of him when. I get paid next he looks amazing and I. Think he would look really good with my original rodimus I found
I'm so glad their adding matrix's and fingers to these new guys
Only because he is in the commander price range.
Can you show us how to fold side panels up to get it to close with canon inside?
I REALLY like the way it looks and is built, for me it's worth, but, I still don't care about the trailer. so I'll wait to see if they do a stand alone figure at some point. besides I love the car mode for rodimus more than the trailer look
Here in the UK he seems to be £10 more expensive than the other Commander Class figures have been which is just too much for me...
At my local store, it’s around 200 dollars (aud) but on Amazon it’s only 80! (Aud)
the figure is good, the trailer is a nightmare. mine doesn't open correctly because the spring of the pipe piece blocks it on one side so it has to be held away manually, the trailer doesn't open when the car is stuck in because of the car's wing, and the trailer doesn't close properly. I really regret buying this and might replace it with the SS86 version because I'm so frustrated.
I would like it better if the car went further into the trailer like the PotP one in Winnebago mode.
$149 aud. I got mine on sale. Worth it on sale.
I got my PotP Rodimus at Universal Studios bc I legit couldn't find him in any store where I live now that was an inflated price
I like who you referenced emgos bloosh
I love this toy, Hasbro keep making awesome Commander class figures
I just got ss86 hot rod and was between him and potp rodimus and kingdom rodimus looks soooooooooo goood ooo boy I want him now
What brand construction is that??
He's huge!!!!
I just bought this on Amazon during cyber Monday it’s price started at 83 dollars just before the sale started then I got it for 56 worth every penny
Still not sure if I should get a Rodimus or a Hot Rod figure????
I got mine for $80 aud because it was in a toy sale and my box was damaged. I reckon I got an amazing price for the guy.
Is there already an upgrade that makes it taller than just a voyager?
Picked it up today for 39 dollars on Amazon clearance.
Mines been delayed by Amazon twice now, expected tomorrow but im not holding my breath.
This is so cool and awesome
About to grab one of these used for $40US. Doesn't have the trailer or the accessories but I think it's worrh it, and I can always buy the trailer separate off ebay.
The car mode sticks way too far out from the trailer, IMO. Looks good in robot mode, though.
Got him today…..FREAKING AWESOME!!!!
I know that you don't do repaints for commander class but i want a shattered glass or generations selects rodimus unicronus
