- The triple track mainline provided great entertainment, as well as heavy duty airplane traffic into JFK which flew right overhead. Most trains and planes are identified. A railfab and plane buff dream there yesterday.
I live by Merillon Avenue! I ride my bike over there to watch the trains all the time! Glad to see that it's finally getting some attention.
Thanks for including the planes!
Awesome. Rush hour on rails and in the air. Thanks Tim😀💚
Loved this video! I really love your providing of the originating and terminating stations and sometimes their first stop. And you know good airline info as well!
Nice vídeo. Really nice place for teain & plane spotting. As for the planes, at least untill now (haven't yet seen the whole vídeo), the 2 Virgin looked like 787-9s, and the others 787-8s. The Air Lingus is an A321LR (these newer "Buses" are easy to spot, with those huge turbofans)
Was in the Bronx today for the Phillies vs Yankees game. Did a wee bit of railfanning with my son at Trenton and got a great picture of him with the NJ Transit PRR painted locomotive. Got to see the Amtrak 642 Veterans unit several times as it was on a Keystone train with another ACS-64.
Love the plane action, a reason why I joined the Air Force. Used to go to JFK and watch the various airlines takeoff. For some reason I was always liked Alitalia and Swiss Air's paint schemes
With this message i thank you for your trainpassion (and that sometimes a plane flies over; you (and i) have seen trains enough). Your voice is very pleasant.Still you are at an age where you politely ask the engineer to honk. Old habits never die! Keep on going. Some video(s) between Newark and Trenton would be nice.
Love watching those trains always 🚉
Nailed it! Trains and planes. I grew up in the Bronx and was 2 miles from the 6 train but was under the approach to RW22 at LGA. At age 13 we moved to Garden City (just 2 blocks south of Nassau Blvd) and could watch planes on approach to RWY 22L at JFK, as you featured here. As a teen we we hop the freight trains from the Mitchell Secondary that passed through Nassau Blvd. That's a great spot for trains and planes. At about 7 miles from touchdown they're dropping the gear and usually slowing to 180 kts (207MPH). Keep catching the trains and try to catch my former employer- Delta! Cheers
Amazing video 👍. I love the new PM rush action on the Mainline.
I can see that the third track gives the schedulers a lot of flexibility they didn't have before. That Merillon Avenue platform is sure long! Do they really use all of it? BTW, you're good with your airline identifications as well; interesting having Israeli and Jordanian airliners consecutively. (I worked on the design of the 777 at Boeing in the early '90s, on loan from Grumman.)
Wonderful job. Thank you!
Great coverage and narration sir 👍🏽👍🏽
Always love planespotting at JFK very diverse airline and aircraft variety!!!
Where is planespotting done at JFK now? Back in the late 1970's, I planespotted on the parking deck of the old Pan Am terminal but that is long gone.

Those trains have a lot of cars. I spent a few days on the South Fork about this time last year and when I saw an LIRR train going through Amagansett on its way to Montauk it had 1 or 2 cars, (if memory serves me correctly) I thought at first it was a bus.
I love this video! I'm so happy the LIRR finally has three tracks between Floral Park and Hicksville and I'm happy because the LIRR finally goes to Grand Central Madison!
i take it you're not currently an active commuter?
Good job getting the Kennedy heavies!
Train 44 used to be 2742 running via the Babylon/Montauk line
Love your content, Can you comment on the post article recently "LIRR train hits concrete walkway in ‘embarrassing’ mishap during morning commute", April 4, 2023. Thanks
Your Using Train Time and Flight Radar24 together? True spotter!!
Constant vigilance
Main Line is a great place to see rush hours train especially stations after Mineola to see Oyster Bay Trains flying through. Who was that guy in the Mets sweatshirt and camera?
Nice video
Almost at 10k subs!
Awesome video. Just out of curiosity, since you're the retired railfan horn guy did you work for the lirr/mta? And if you did, what did you do?
I did not
@@3985uprr what did you do for work then?
@@jeffbartels2980 I worked for an airline company and an insurance company
My question is how do you know exactly what the train service is? What do you use?
How do you know what these flights are? Awesome video btw.
I use the flight tracker app
Hey Tim, thanks for the trains and planes just from curiosity what runway is that the short final for?
Runway 22L
Yankee had the day off.?
Vacation. Saw Joe but neither of us were expecting to see each other.
Was that Spaghetti and Meatballs who blew the horn at you in train 80?
Love you content. What did you do before you retired?
I worked for British Airways for 20 years and worked in insurance for another 14.
Why are the platforms so long?
12 cars long
Is it true that M3s can't go to GCT, if it is why is that?
Not enough power to climb the grades plus there’s some electrical incompatibility.
@@3985uprr Ohh ok that makes a lot of sense then. Ty
I know a great place for you to railfan and catch some train action (especially in rush hour) if you're interested.
Where?
@@3985uprr Harrison Path Station in Jersey. Lots of train action there. You won't regret it.
In understand that railfans are personna-non-grata at the Harrison PATH station by the PATH police. Is that still so?
@@robertgambling502 possibly
@@robertgambling502 why? There’s no law against railfanning. I’ve seen railfanning videos that were updated this year.
