By the way I have no idea what I'm doing with Bermuda grass I moved to Alabama from Indiana to Alabama and now it's a different story from Kentucky Bluegrass to Bermuda grass so thank you for your video I really appreciate it
Great video. In Deep South Texas we can go 3 months without rain. It is a struggle to keep my Bermuda looking good. My irrigation system like my AC unit gets a tremendous work out every summer. Your tips were very helpful. Thanks.
We probably have a similar climate here in Alabama though your temperatures might actually be a little hotter. You are correct. A few hot humid days can suck the moisture right out of the grass. I have been amazed at how well Bermuda grass can survive though sometimes it does lose its green color
Thanks, Jason! I’m in Marshall county and have some kind of large patchy areas of some kind of weed - Image usually does pretty good on it but takes several applications. My neighbor has some kind of weed/grass that comes over into my lawn - I wish I had your help up here. Thanks for the videos!
Jason,I start out about 1 inch every spring, I am now at 4 inches.I will keep it at 4 inches all the way till late winter/early spring.Late February I will start my scalp by bringing my deck down one notch at a time( about 1/2 - 3-4 inch).I have a 24,000 sq ft bermuda lawn so I will have mountains of clippings when I go from 4 inches to 1 inch lol
Also I would advise against to scalp in nov and dec. What I like about the dormancy is when my bermuda lawn goes into dormancy it puts off a strong golden color, Almost like it glows..really cool looking. Then from jan - march it has that ugly greyish/beige tint to it.
Raise the dang deck up! Drives me nuts driving through town seeing the potential in lawns being massacred because a customer wants " the golf course look". They must not see these guys mowing fairways 3-4 times a weeks. Good video
I cut zoysia at one inch, bermuda at two early, three late...weekly. We have had good rain all summer. I did a split pre/post weed treatment this year to keep the weeds at a minimum. And fertilize monthly with slow release Lesco 24-2-11.
THANK YOU! Ive struggled with what grass to put under the oak tree so that something will blend decent with my sun loving Bermuda. I didn't want the big bladed St Aug because it doesn't blend with Bermuda. Emerald Z may be the answer.
What Herbicide do you recommend to kill weeds out of bermuda lawns, everything i find just wants to kill the grass. my whole lawn is bermuda i don't want ot kill it.
I cut my Bermuda lawn twice a week. Ever since I got a zero turn, I can mow my yard in a half hour and really enjoy mowing it often now that it's so easy. I used to slack on the fertilizer to minimize growth because I didn't want to mow it in 94 degree weather. Now, I throw it down... 😉 I can't really mow lower than 2 inches though. I mow it at 3 on a 1-8 scale. 1 being an inch and a half and 8 being 4 inches. I tried to mow it at 2 once, but my lawn isn't level enough. I get some scalping in some areas.
I cut mine every 4 days mostly I late evening to avoid stressing the grass. I also start raising my deck in 1/4" increments leaving the same height for 2 mowing until I am cutting it at 3.5 inches later on when rain slows down to keep the moisture in the soil longer.
Never mind just realized you said Alabama so how fast does the grass grow down there and what prices are okay to charge I'm just wondering because I'm going to move down there this December and star my own little business since I'm still in high school it's never too early to start.
Does anyone know how to kill Nimblewill in Bermuda? I just bought Tenacity but did not realize you are not supposed to use it on Bermuda. I have 2 large patches of light green Nimblewill
10-4 I feed lawns and work in Dallas area. So many lawns get scalped to death in this area. It is a shame to see a lawn destroyed by these hackers on a weekly schedule.
Yeah it happens in my area too(Georgia) where bermuda lawns look like crap because of the brown scalp marks through out after a mow.Especiall this time of the year.People need to learn how to RAISE their height of cut!
really love your videos. watch them all. can you please give me a link to the growth regulator that you talk about here? have Bermuda grass in Arizona. Hope you can check some of my videos. Thanks.
Love that Bermuda. It's also very resilient to heavy herbicide usage and fairly difficult to burn with fertilizer. Great video Jason!

I'm mowing twice a week during the summer.

Would you recommend cutting the lawn short in the spring on St. Aug grass for fast green up? I'm in South Louisiana.
Awesome Vid

Sounds good. Alabama is a great state

Twice a week, if your fertilizing without a growth inhibitor try every 2 days. Lol thinking about getting zoysia
Jason, I’m in West Texas. We had around 150 days of no measurable precipitation. Needless to say that will kill your Bermuda.
Wow. That is really dry through a summer. I imagine that would kill Bermuda
So what state is your company from
Great video thank you!

You should make a Bermuda grass for dummies or Bermuda grass for beginners LOL
