- Hello and welcome back to Total Football where today we are analysing Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over Chelsea, secured with goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.
Where did it all go wrong for Frank Lampard's men? Should he have started Mudryk? Was Enzo Fernandez lost out there?
What about Real Madrid... are they now favourites for a potential semi-final clash against Man City?

What changes would you make for the 2nd leg??
(Dougie)
Zakaria/Mount for Kovacic. Both can be more physical and certainly more serious. Probably put Mudryk up against Carvajal and, in spite of his donkeyness, regrettably Havertz up top
A actualy compitent manager would be a start
Make Dougie more aware of camera changes.
@@chrisboyd6736 😂😂😂
@@chrisboyd6736 Hahh we aren’t supposed to be aware! I’m not supposed to look at any other camera
(Dougie)
How can u go from graham potter to lampard....frank is going to be worse than potter
Lmao shhhhhhhhhh just sit back and enjoy the show 😂😂😂👌
Only until the end of the season tbf
Chelsea are spoiled children
Doesn’t really matter at this point, seasons done
Going? He is worse than Potter. He’s easily the worst manager in the epl
0-2 is a win for Chelsea. Everyone was expecting 0-5
Sad how true this is
Wasn’t expecting that. Chelsea don’t usually concede that much that isn’t their problem. They can’t score that’s always been the issue.
You will get an even worse defeat next week 😂. And you all know it!
I think Lampard doesn't relay details to the player. He seems to just set the basics of the formation and think the players can fill in the rest. Perhaps that could work at home or against lesser opposition but no chance of that at the Bernabeu. The mentality is the most worrying thing about this performance though, 2-0 isn't impossible to overturn but with heads down and growing faces you have no chance.
Vini Jr is an incredible footballer.
flat, lifeless performance from chelsea, but a very lively performance from the efd lads if we’re being honest
We tried to bring it!
(Dougie)
Super harsh on Enzo. Only reason we were able to play at all were his switches of play. Got caught a few times but to ignore Sterling’s shambolic effort is weird.
Mudryk is not mentally ready for the CL stage with Chelsea yet, barely has any confidence and cohesion with the team in the prem so no point bringing him on. We switched off completely for the second goal, but thought we defended fairly well after. Not heartbroken with 2-0, just hope we show more desire to overturn it
Did anyone really expect mid table Chelsea to win?😂
Funny how Pat used to bash this Madrid midfield even with Case 3 - 4 years ago. And here we are!
no literally last season he was saying they were shit all the time and they proceeded to walk the three best teams in the prem lol. you can just tell he only watches real madrid five times a year in the ucl and that’s it
I’m gonna whisper it, but Reece James is a shell of what he used to be. Doesn’t seem to have the drive he once had 😢
He's not the same because he needs surgery, which he'll get at the end of the season.
Tbh 2-0 in the Bernabéu is nothing to scoff at. It’s not impossible at the bridge. From non Chelsea supporter
Kante was Chelsea’s best player how’s he saying he’s far off.
Enzo was, Kante wasnt the worse but wasnt good either
@@nicolascastelli4439 Enzo was bad
@@jideofor.brightbright4488 Go back to primary school and see if you find any other sport of interest cause football clearly isn't for you.
nah enzo was
@@nicolascastelli4439 you no nothing about sport remove sentiment and brace the truth..Enzo loses the ball anyhow
Enzo was the best on Chelsea!!! You’re bull
Take iout all dis new overrated player like Enzo play our initial
@@emmanuelabiola7062 What ?
I have not see what Enzo is doing that is so important, he is just average player, he can't even push attack he can't dribble, he can't defend , he can't run, are you buying him for winning the world Cup?
As a Madridista, I see Chelsea's bench and I see another top team of players just sitting there, way better subs than Madrid currently has. If Benzema or one of our defenders is injured, we are done! Chelsea will recover, building a project takes time and proper planning.
Our lack of depth scares me. Hope we sign a back up ST this summer
Well a Super Team isn't what wins you games. Mourinho described it the best when he said that Bernardo Silva, de Bruyne etc were investments from the past. Real Madrid is the same. Its only once in a while that they attract a Galactico. During the transfer period they sign promising youngsters who can fill the roles of the older gen like Endrick and Vini. Look at PSG and Chelsea. On paper these teams should be UCL winning teams but they are not a team. Its like everyone works individually and that's what destroys them. Mourinho referenced Man United back then and he was right. Players were just cashing in weekly salaries while playing shit or not playing at all. Chelsea is great on paper but they do not play like a collective force and that's partially due too that ridiculous influx of new signings and change of managers within such a short period of time.
Yes, I am RM fan, but I feel a lot of respect to Chelsea, and even with 2-0, I dont feel overconfident...Chelsea is a team that can surprise you at any time, so RM should play very seriously as if it lost the first leg.
This is not the Chelsea team from last year that were elite in cup competitions under Tuchel. This is a Chelsea side that have changed managers more times than they’ve won a game by more than 2 goals this season. Obviously they are not out yet, but they are out.
Very harsh on Enzo because I thought he was the slightly better player on our side.
It's not Lampards' mistakes that cost Chelsea. It's their shambolic owner he sacked Tuchel and bought every player he liked the look of & probably didn't even ask Potter if they fit his system? Glazers 2.0.
they would’ve been better off playing 4 at the back and asking the fullbacks to be more defensive. playing 2 forwards with little to no support was always a recipe for disaster. i feel like a big reason why madrid were so much better was cause they were never afraid of chelsea. they weren’t a threat at all.
We were piss poor tonight. Aside the obvious lack of quality and attacking coherence there was a fundamental lack of desire.
Madrid were there for the taking and we let them off the hook.
"Madrid were there for the taking" 😂😂😂😂😂🤡
There for the taking? My guy, you're lucky you didn't go back to london 5-0 tonight lmao
Lampard has a 150iq btw. Plays 3 mids to match them at the same time drops them so deep they can't get close. Plays 2 5ft winger/cams up top but sets the team up to go wide and cross. He's just not at the lvl of course the players have no faith when they see tactics like that, they're good enough players to already know it isn't going to work
Pat dropping a stinker take when Enzo was by far the best player for Chelsea.
Yeah but then your Vardrid fans are saying he had a stinker because he didn’t score a hatrick. 🤢🤮🤣🤣🤣
Not sure about "by far", since Enzo still made mistakes and this was not his best day.
At the same time, Enzo having an off day and still being arguably the best man on the pitch is very telling of the rest of the team. Absolutely wasted as a player.
@@nicolaszan1845 I think he was by far the best, particularly on the ball. Why do you focus on that instead of a supposedly knowledgeable and nuanced football journalist like that Pat guy saying he was the worse Cheslea player on the pitch when, if anything he was the only one that didn't play poorly?
@@nicolascastelli4439 he lost possession just outside the box a few times, played decent passes to switch the play but felt kinda nonexistent besides that. compared to every other chelsea player he was the best by default but that doesn’t mean he had a necessarily good game
Chelsea build up play was way too slow should of been a fast paced counter attack and at least tried
is Madueke injured? feel like he'd bring more than sterling and is better suited atm than Mduryk
Getting lampard was dumb fkinh decision. 10 games, left no cup competions, 11th in the prem and a match against real madrid in the quater finals of CL. What did they think lampard could or would do?
The reason this is so disappointing is cause Chelsea completely dominated Real last year and there have been no major changes to Real, it just shows the state of Chelsea now
I think for Chelsea’s sake their UCL journey likely ending in the second leg will force them to start gearing up for their new era in the summer and for the viewers sake the worst team left in the UCL to watch will soon be no more.
Glad Chelsea fans and pundits can now forget this dumb fantasy that 2012 wrought. We need to focus on future accomplishments, nearly every member of the Roman era of Chelsea are gone. Time to evolve.
EZ game EZ life. Yet another semifinal for Real Madrid.
It aint the manager... players aren't showing heart
Hard to show heart when you've been getting walloped all season, to be fair
no right off Chelsea, THIS season Chelsea?! are you mad?!, il tattoo Chelsea badge on my back if they get to SF
Done well get this far for how crap they have been this season
Mudryk should've gone to some other club. He will never get any game time at Chelsea.
It was only that Karim benzema hatrick 😂😂
I swear the disrespect Real Madrid gets from these guys is so confusing sometimes
Guys be realistic this Chelsea can't event touch Real Madrid. With or without Potter.
Lampard won't WIN any games. There I've said it. He's worse than Potter. Today 433 tomorrow 352. Boehly should have left Potter in Charge. End of season get rid. Because Crystal Palace could easily catch and overtake us.
real is one or two tiers above chelsea. just a normal game tbh.
Chelsea actually did nothing all game
Very boring panel it's time for change's
Chelsea players are not hard working d culture there is a joke, dey dnt train hard enough ,dey dnt run enough, they dont improve enough , nothing plus poor manager.
scouse gits got hammered by real
Feel kind of sorry for Chilwell, you can see that cucurella goes to close down Valverde & leaves a huge gap breaks the back like & Chilwell just choose to take him down.
It suposen' to be happy
I honestly believe Potter would’ve coached a better display tonight. He would’ve at least had some sort of tactical plan tailored to Madrid. Lampard just sets the formation and hopes for the best.
At least, Potter good at Champions league not like Lampard
Oh please at what point do we hold these useless players accountable
Why do people keep putting mudryk on these thumbnails when literally had nothing to do with the defeat. Bro didn’t play🤣
Bringing up a Chelsea win over a Real Madrid team using Vini Jr. as a right back is so pointless lmao
Good Formation From Lamps today.
You can't play defense and counterattack and play Joao Felix upfront as a lone striker; I have seen Atletico make the same mistake over and over.
He is not fast or strong enough to play that role, he get bruried between the centrebacks
The treatment of Mudryk has been terrible. Everytime we play games that are so obviously suited to him he doesn’t play and so of course we never see his proper capabilities
And chiwel red card just leave him he still has to score and correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure he’s done that before in a big game
Potter brought back lampard to keep the fans on his side so they won't turn against him
"Euro" football daily but you only review pl teams
yes we enjoyed the video:)
Very interesting
First
Lampart is the greatest joke in coaching history. If he wasn't a famous player he wouldn't even coach a conference league team.
Was Mudryk any good?
He didn’t play.
I dont mind seeing chelsea suffering a bit😅, but this is embarrassing! Lampard isnt the answer!
I don't think he was really meant to be an answer
@@nicolaszan1845 so what is he? Thats even more embarrassing! Might as well stick a scare crow on the touch line!
@@bass6ix651 An interim coach, mostly meant to raise the spirits of the fans and hold them out until the end of the season, when either Luis Enrique or Julian Nagelsmann will come in.
@@nicolaszan1845 thats sensible, but from a results angle and emotions aside, even chelsea fans know frank aint got the suace like that! But i feel what u said, franks a legend let him have it!
@@bass6ix651 Well yeah, no one is under the impression Frank is going to win the Champions League or something. But he is charismatic and a real fan of the club, which are his main selling points.
At Least It’s Only 2-0, There’s Still Some Hope.
Should have moved fast to bring in a good manager, now lampard is going to leave at the end of the season and the team are going to have to adapt to another manager and probably have a bad start to the next season. Chelsea are in a awful spot and it's not getting better anytime soon.
