I have kept tank bred 'altum' which my local supplier said were from Germany. I kept them with wild altum and there are differences in physical characteristics. I suspect a lot of these so called f1 altum could be hybrid crosses with scalares/hybrids. I much prefer real wild altum from the atabapo or inirida tributaries.
Reputable breeders will never mix altums and scalare. Besides, it is very difficult to cross-breed them as these are two different species that are genetically different. I've kept Altums and scalare in the same tank for years and they never showed any interest towards each other. I also do not see a reason in crossbreeding these two species
@@tropicalfishhub There was an article in PFK Aug 2010. I quote ...."according to expert Heiko Bleher, these fish were captive-bred by German Simon Forkel. They’re said to be a cross between a true Pterophyllum altum from the Rio Atabapo on the Colombia border and the Segrest line of "Rio Negro altums", which is P. scalare. Seen other called hybrids being sold online, but they are nothing remotely even like Altum.
What is the difference between Orinoco and Atabapo? I see some source says Atabapo is larger some says Orinoco is larger, and some says it's the same. Do you have experience with both kind?
Wow nice find you got. I was always told F1s were definitely less sensitive than the wild parents. Do you find that to be true. Great video, newer sub. 👍
Very nice looking angels good size like the way you adjust water preramters
Please let me know what do you use to acidify the water of the tank. Thanks.

Beautiful fish! I've got 5 myself
Come fai a dargli il mangime secco tetramin? I miei Altum non lo mangiano il secco granulare tetramin. Come hai abituato i pesci a mangiarlo? Grazie

To be honest, I could never notice any difference. Atabapo also supposed to have more red on their backs, but that's different in different fish!
Is there an angel fish called dantum?? Could u do a video on it.
There is such a fish, but I never had them.
Hello dis exemplar si is originally Altum de Orinoco ?
Yes, they are:)

Thank you very much! F1s are indeed more adaptable and grow faster. Its hard to wean wilds on dry foods, but these ones love Vibrabites
@@tropicalfishhub thanks for verifying what ive been told. I'm in the United states and they're really hard to find here.
small aquarium for this fishs
That was a quarantine tank as I said in the video
