    What species of moss do you use? for the emersed part?

    • @tropicalfishhub

      There are several: thread sphagnum moss, Christmas, Taiwan and Spiky mosses, also Tropica Leptodictyum riparium

      @@tropicalfishhub thanks, that's very useful to know! Any idea which one is doing the best, if I just wanted to cover a large area on top of damp sphagnum or hygrolon?

    Hey friend- great to catch up with you and this tank. Funny, I just posted a video of my tank with the most emerged growth but it's Rotalla that is going nuts out of water (as opposed to your Japanese Clover). Anyway, I hope you are having a lovely summer :)

    • @tropicalfishhub
      @tropicalfishhub 17 годин тому

      Hi, thank you for watching! Your top shelf tank with its emersed Rotala was an initial inspiration for me to add long stem plants here expecting they will break the water surface, but at the time my local fish store had no Rotala, only Bacopa caroliniana, so I went for it!

    • @LushSaltyAquariums
      @LushSaltyAquariums 12 годин тому

      @@tropicalfishhub I actually started all this rotala with only emerged stems and just wedged them into moss covered wood. They did the rest. I could try sending you a bunch of “dry” stems though I know it is a long way for them to travel.

      @@LushSaltyAquariums Oh, thanks for the offer, but the UK customs won't allow in or out of country any live plants in private mail! Rotala isn't a rare plant here, but my local fish store sometimes runs out of it, so hopefully I'll get it next time:)

    Outstanding as always. Does the hydrocotle and pennywort need very humid conditions to grow emersed like that?

    • @tropicalfishhub
      @tropicalfishhub 17 годин тому

      Thanks Gil! Both of these plants seem to do well in normal 'living room' conditions. I spray them once per day, but once they get used to emersed growth they don't seem to need any extra moisture

    What do you think are the best catfish/loach species for a backwater aquarium? I made a 10 gallon Blackwater riparian based on your aquariums and I was thinking of maybe either some Otocinclus, Corydoras or Kuhli Loaches.

    • @tropicalfishhub
      @tropicalfishhub 9 днів тому

      I'm glad my videos inspired your setup! Most corydoras will do well in blackwater, but only some are typical blackwater species such as C.concolor and c.duplicareus/adolfoi. Otos will be a great addition. Kuhli loach will also thrive in blackwater

    im watching this video 2nd or third time never gets old , nice video my ones did net get the color yet , still yellowish color 😁 . they are like 6 montha old i think i bought them in february . when i got them they are like 1.5 cm length . 5 inch height , never fed colour feedings until now . i fed ultra fresh exellent bits and dr Basler chlorella . now im going to mix vibra bites of hikari also . only gave that food two days . 🔴will they get the red color when they grow . they are in a bitope aquarium with geos an corydoras . n 🔴 giving a color feed disturb breeding ? our breeders don t give color enancing foods thats a pain 😥

    • @tropicalfishhub
      @tropicalfishhub Місяць тому

      Thank you:) I'm happy that you liked the video. Some Manacapuru strains might take more time to colour up. If your fish are not from wild parents or f2/f3/f4, they may never get truly red because red colour begins disappearing with over breeding. I think you don't need to feed them colour foods, just wait another month or so and they may colour up
