Unboxing of Special Fish that I have been searching for so long….!!
Looking lovely! That light looks good too, I'm interested to see how you get on with it.
Thank you! The lamp is holding on so far and suction cups seem to be decent quality
How do you account for zebra plecos in the wild surrounded by many different species of fish? There share the Rio Xingu with many different species of tetra and corydoras.
well, what about discus or angels which share the same habitats with piranha, peacock bass, redtail catfish and caimans? It doesn't mean we can keep them all together within a confines of a rather small glass box in our homes.
@ well of course if you have a big enough glass box you probably can 😂. I’ve seen many breeders keep their zebra plecos with at least some dither fish like corydoras *in the right size glass box*
What happened to the altum angel / discus tank by your kitchen?
It was 2 years ago and in a different house:) there are a few videos on the channel about all of that
@tropicalfishhub Sorry, I must have seen old videos and thought they were more recent.
Very nice to see your place room!
Thank you!
Merci pour toutes vos précieuses explications
What type of water do you use for your fish tank RO or tap water ?
filtered (through HMA filter) tap water
@@tropicalfishhub thank you
So the Angelfish I got from Petsmart looks like Peruvian. I bought them at a small size and now a year later theyre bigger and have the characteristics of Rio Nanay. The blue hue on the scales and spots. Can I share photos somewhere to confirm?
yes, certainly you can email them or share on Instagram (tropicalfishhub)
Thanks for the video!!!
How many litres are the tanks in the video?
90L and 100L
Having done some work on Sphagnum moss in the past, I can attest to some of the effects observed here. However, it has to be noted that Sphagnum will not survive in hard water. It has limited ability to absorb calcium ions and will quickly become overwhelmed by these, which will adversely change its surface pH. Therefore, the best effects will be achieved in water with low TDS and neutral to low pH. In the study, the authors only achieved a reduction of 1.3 pH units using a single pass through dry moss, but aquarists may achieve a higher reduction using living moss. Thanks for posting this video, the tanks are ample evidence of the successful use of Sphagnum in aquaria. I would suggest that this approach to water conditioning might be of interest to keepers of Parosphromenus species.
Thanks for your comment and the info:) I must admit that my tap water was and still is very soft and acidic, which probably did contribute to moss thriving
I have a floor tank and use a small All pond solutions pump attached to some 12mm pipe to change the water, works like a charm and saves a lot of hassle. Great video mate 👍
Thanks! Pump is a good idea, the problem for me is that I need to syphon the bottom as it gets full of faeces, etc.
What a great use of space! Lovely fish too, obviously happy. It might be a bit of a squeeze but do you ever just sit in there and enjoy them or is that what your main tank's for?
Thank you! I normally spend some time per day checking each tank to make sure all runs smoothly, but I don't really sit and watch them because plecos aren't very active fish and there isn't much happening most of the time
Has anyone ever dna tested this variety?
Beautiful angels!
hello nice video :) which exact ikea glass did you use to build the aquarium, I would like to buy and glue the aquarium myself
Thank you! I used UTRUSTA glass shelves. They come in 4 different sizes. I used 40x37 cm to make cubes
@@tropicalfishhub thank you
I would like to see what you are feeding your L numbers.
I will certainly make a detailed pleco feeding video:)
Thank you so much for another great video. Liked how you organized everything in your fishroom!
Thank you for watching it!
Can you use black tea bags? It will make the water black faster.
No, black tea contains caffeine and it is deadly for fish and shrimp. The only tea that has no caffeine is rooibos
You made a very good video please make more of them👍
Thank you, I will
Im suprised to see that neocaridinas thriving in this warm and soft water. Very hardy little creatures.
They actually thrive in high flow and high temperature. They grow fast and breed like crazy, but I think their life span is also much shorter than in cooler temperatures
I have neos breeding in 6.5 ph 140-165 tds
@tropicalfishhub Yes high heat and max flow..They breed like crazy..
Hi, what are the clips on the lids
some cheap stuff I got from ebay to keep glass covers in place
Tank Size?
I have 2 with few angel fish, no issues at all. Great ones
tank size?
Beautiful
Tambem estou sobrecarregado. Porem achei seu video traduzido na minha lingua. Portugues! Fucou fantastico! parabens. Ganhou um novo inscrito.
Alfagrog is great. I would still put the sponges before the Alfagrog to try to keep it in tip top condition. And skip the sponges later on. I agree it doesn't clog as easily as other medias. Not saying you're wrong! But there's more than one way to skin a cat. 😊
Absolute agreed with you.
I love wild types Angelfish so much, but unfortunately very difficult to get it in my country. So I just try to get a simple, less complicated looking bred to keep.
sorry for commenting on such an old video but as I have said in other videos, I really love this tank of yours that you used to have. Now to my question: How do you keep Frogbit with a filter like that? Mine die from even my tiny sponge filters. Water splashing on top of the leaves.
I also miss that tank! In my experience, Amazon frogbit will be sensitive to surface agitation/bubbles when it has not established itself. As long as it gets lots of light and nutrients and starts growing, it does not seem to care much about water movement. It also doesn't like lids or cover glasses. Overall, for me it always was more sensitive and challenging than pistia and other floaters
How do you keep a tank from stinking when there isn't any water flow?
As long as nitrogen cycle is established there shouldn't be any issues with decay, but it might take a while and water changes will help in the meantime
Cool idea. Would love to do something like this- will be following along for any updates.
Thank you!
Looks great! I would love to see an update on this tank after a few weeks.
Thank you! I will certainly be making a follow-up video on this tank in a month
Great idea using the shelves to make the tank! I'm sure those beautiful little fish will settle right in. I'm interested to see how the filterless design works out, it should be fine in theory with all that lava rock & sand etc and not a huge bioload. Love your cat too 🥰
Thanks! I had a couple of filterless blackwater tanks before and they seemed to function well as long as not overstocked, so hopefully this setup will work
I like the set up. Simple, yet effective.
Thanks Gil! I hope this no-filter thing will work out
Will this be apply to L066 aswell? Yesterday I bought some wildcaught L066 King tiger pleco from a supplier. Had 6 of them with the size of 3”. One of them which I assumed that is a male already took one of the cave and rest are outside hiding on the drifwood, sponge filter or outside the caves.
Yes very much so. L066 are almost the same species, just different color pattern. Good luck with them, they should be straightforward to breed
@ my water ppm is around between 120-140 will that be too high for them to breed successfully?
what is the substitute you used in the tank? looks amazing and the name of the plant?
the plants are Pothos and Monstera
Do they need soft water or they can have success fry on hard water?
They do need softer water to breed, but it doesn't need to be too acidic. pH 6.5, GH/KH 0.5 should be fine
Hi how do you manage to get the food to your Pleco’s with hi flow thanks
Their food normally settles in the back of the tanks. I leave space behind those walls of rocks/caves. there is less current there. I mostly feed them dr bassler foods and the pellets stick to rocks where plecos love to pick them
Thanks
Do you have to plant Brazilian pennywort? Or can you just sort of let it float?
I never plant it as it rarely sets up proper roots. In my case it always grows better as a floater
@ awesome thank you! I’m gonna just put it on some driftwood then
Please, please.....get a better AI...this one is really terrible!!!!! The breeding aquariums are great though 😁👍🏻 and the paludarium is brilliant! Happy New Year and a successful 2025!
Saludos
10:00 Mangroves actually grow faster in freshwater because they don't have to waste energy on keeping out salt.
Thanks, yes I've read that. They also need warmer temps to thrive, but it is a bit too chilly for them in our place as our winter temps are at 20C
❤❤❤
The 1st tank is a work of wonder! Great job!
Thank you:)
great video and with the automatic dubbing I finally enjoyed it fully
Thank you! I'm not sure why that automatic dubbing comes up, I need to check it out
@@tropicalfishhub It's an automatic function that the channel has been making available for creators for some time now. I'm Italian and I listened to it perfectly in my language.
Thanks for the tour, I like the pleco collection. Welcome back friend.
Thank you! yes, the plecos are addictive!
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
wow beautiful.
