Roger, with the all DIYers out there and apprentice plumbers, perhaps you could make a new video on sewer machines. There are now affordable versions available for the DIYer or new plumber. I bought a Hydromaster auto feed from HF in an emergency and have used it quite successfully. It was $349 and works very well. The cable is well made, too. I have been pleasantly surprised. I cleared a mainline clog with it in CI 2 days ago in a heavy snowstorm. It wasn't bothered at all. Great vid, as always! Thanks!
that accordian plunger is great for a kitchen sink. perfect size to fit in the drain fitting. the other great use for a sink plunger is pulling out the dent the apprentice put in the van. I've actually started hitting the flush handle, if I'm not getting good results from the toilet plunger. the weight of the water hitting the booster jet, helps get more movement in the trap.
What about a low flow water saver toilet (from approx. 2010) that had a small openning and dumps water from a tray and not a tank so it does not have much force to clear the easte effeciently. Not sure how I would clear a clog in this type toilet or how to use the flange plunger.
I had to put a longer handle on my plunger before to use it as a vent plunger in the 6" viewport. I only keep the flanged plungers on my truck but i keep 2 on there.
I have this bumble bee plunger, you basically lay it in the toilet to fill with water and then put it in the hole and you can clear it in one push every time.
I have found in plunging the toilet that it is often more effective on the back stroke. I push down in a controlled but firm manner. Then with a good seal I pull back. I've had the best luck with pulling the clog back into the bowl where it will rearrange itself into a shape that will flush more easily.
Roger keeps talking about 'air pressure' but air is compressible, you really want the plunger to contain 100% water so you can exert as much pressure on the blockage as you can. Plunging with air is like having air in the brake system of your car. Also, why rapid movements while plunging? That's like hammering a nail down with tiny hammer hits. Personally, I find that creating a big sucking-movement works the best.
Exactly. That's why those accordion plungers suck. Use the regular plunger. One slow press to get the air out. Then jack hammer without drawing any air in until you hear the clog break up.
Mind reader...I was just using a plunger and had this very question about the right shape for use. not sure i had the right one but I did get the job done.
My daughters' condo she bought has a Toyo toilet. For some reason the black toilet ones do not seal correctly due to the weird angle. So was defintly more effort than Im used to. Maybe she needs to buy the accordian style
Yep I went out and got the correct ones!! but ...Question..we um capped the air pipe for my bedroom drain on the roof and now my toilet wont flush. Do i need to reopen that and put a rain cap on it?
Thanks Roger 😊
You bet Andrew!
Thanks for all the information!
Any time!

Gotta love Roger teaching life skills
Some people aren't taught things like this anymore
Those accordion plungers are good for one thing only: spraying the operator with poop water.
haha! that is a downside
May need to do a video with a sink with an overflow. Some people will plunge without covering the hole lol
Tubs with overflow tubes as well
HE HAS DONE THAT BEFORE

Thanks for the tips!

It's all about technique 🤣

Which one are you using?
What do plumbers, garbagemen, and economists all have in common?
They all deal with gross domestic product.
..............😂
You can use the accordian plunger on a slow or sluggish tub drain too!!
Very true!

Beehive by korky is hands down best toilet plunger EVER. HOWEVER I do wish they made a hole plug to not push any water back up into the tank 🤔

It seems you answered your own question.
Do you risk blowing out the wax ring in a toilet by using a plunger?
No, you’d have to have a lot of pressure to blow that out…we have a video on that coming out soon!
He gaped that shit open like goatsee at 4:27
