Thanks for this video. my wife in travelling on this route tomorrow, and I was surprised to see Milan on the ticket after buying. This explains it, and helps us know what to expect.
This is very helpful. I also have the same flight from JFK-DBX with a technical stop in Milan and I cannot find answers in the net if I still need to acquire an evisa for the transit.
For sure! It’s super interesting and has caused a lot of frustration amongst US airlines for competition purposes. Some other examples are Emirates’ EWR-ATH-DXB flight, as well as Singapore Airlines IAH-MAN-SIN flight.
We didn’t see any lounge in our quick stay it we didn’t fully explore the terminal. We did notice that most passengers stayed by the gate since the technical layover is fairly quick
now I really need to know how they package those cold cuts so passengers can take them to their final destination! I'm curious (as someone who is a vegetarian!). In all seriousness, great video again. Is it just my eyes, or is that section of Terminal 1 very quiet in terms of shopping, etc? It didn't look like there was that much.
Thank you! And yes the whole terminal had two flights and after one of them left, it was quiet around the terminal. We were also the last ones to board back so some of the scenes showed an empty airport because others had boarded already!
Was it a technical stop for everybody, or just everyone continuing to Pakistan? Wondering if its like Southwest airlines " no plane change" destination. Thanks for the video!
This was a technical stop for everyone. What was interesting was that there were some new passengers that boarded the plane from Milan. But for us no change of seat. Hope this helps
No, we didn’t require any transit visa since the layover was less than 2 hours and we stayed at the gates. We did go through security on the way back the United States
@@cecillmk it doesn't. There is only 1 boarding pass (JFK to DXB). Milan is not mentioned in the boarding pass. However, passengers are verbally communicated that the plane will stop in Milan.
Wow! It's available to see the Alps from Milan Airport!

It’s so emirates can make $ on the lucrative JFK-MXP route. There’s also nonstop flights from JFK-DXB. These are known as 5th freedom routes.
Thank you for the context!

@@md3800 has there been a reduction in the load factor on this route by American and Italian carriers because of Emirates?
For business class passengers any arrangements for lounge access at Milan?

Milan Italy? There is only one Milan, why do you feel the need to list the country?
Just to be super clear since there are three cities in United States called Milan (instead Ohio, Missouri and Michigan)

@@KhizEesa thank you!
@@KhizEesa Hi, so technical stop is just like a short layover right? May I know if the technical stop is indicated on the boarding pass?

Maybe good to stretch legs 😊
Yup, and explore the airport!
But it does reduce the time of sleep on the route ( when there is a stop).
