I rescued four little kittens from the street and found them a home

- These kittens were born by a feral cat. People who lived nearby asked for someone to take the kittens away from there since it was a dangerous place for them. They had a big dog that almost chewed one of the kittens up and there was a road with lots of traffic nearby. The kittens were tame since they were feeding them for about a week already. I did take the kittens to a vet. They had fleas, earmites, a mild diarrhea and intestinal parasites. They were tested negative for feline coronavirus and panleukopenia. I took them home and started treating them for their minor issues. A mild diarrhea is pretty standard for kittens who live on the street so I wasn't worried about it. Unfortunately two days later it got worth and one of the kittens, Basya, started throwing up and refused to eat. I took them to the vet again were they were tested for feline coronavirus and panleukopenia one more time. This time the test for panleukopenia came back positive. Because panleukopenia is a virus, there is no specific cure, so treatment consists of providing supportive care. This includes fluid therapy to correct dehydration and electrolyte abnormalities, antibiotics to fight off secondary bacterial infections, and control of vomiting and diarrhea. Unfortunately the death rate of kittens with this disease is very high. To maximize the chances of them surviving I left them at the clinic. The doctors at this clinic are very experienced when it comes to this virus and I knew from others that they had kittens treated there who survived panleukopenia. At this time I was very devastated as I had lost a kitten to this virus 2 years ago and I knew what they would have to go through. Ksyusha and Olesya were doing bad the first 3 days. They needed to be force fed and got infusions to compensate for the loss of liquids in their bodies. Pirat and Basya were doing much better. After 10 days it was clear that all 4 would survive. I was very happy that they managed to do so well. I could take them home to continue therapy for one more month at my place. After they recovered I could finally start to search for families for them. They were all adopted by great families. We wanted to catch the mother to spay her but unfortunately she disappeared.

This rescue is from a while ago. All kittens are adopted and doing well. Dealing with panleukopenia is very draining emotionally because you don't know if they are going to make it or not and there's not much you can do. I lost another kitten to panleukopenia 3 years ago despite having it treated at a really good clinic. I didn't expect that all 4 of them would make it so I was very happy. I didn't feel like adding any music to this video. Please let me know how you like it without music.

Maybe something drastic has happened to their mother cat, perhaps got hit by a car, killed, and eaten by other predators, or captured by an illegal poacher from the cat meat shop for her fur and meat and $$$'s. Mother cat usually cares for her kittens, and probably went to search for food for herself in producing an adequate amount of milk for feeding her litter of kittens, and then something terribly happened to her. Its just my guess.

@@marshamccarn4030 I sign a contract with people where they agree to neuter them in time. Since I spend a lot of time to select the right people they almost always neuter them. If I foster an adult cat then I always neuter/spay before adoption.

They are adorable! I rescued 19 cats. Most from living on the streets as little kittens. 4 were born in my house durning the pandemic by a feral mother. I took her in with two of her baby boys around 8 months at the time then she had the four kittens last March 27 th. Just about all of them have been spade and nutered. I'm disabled but they saved my life. I love them ALL! Thank you for rescuing the four babies.

Kitens always eat like that)) I actually notice that they slow down when they're alone for a while (I mean when all but one have been adopted). So I guess the main factor that drives them is competition.

Our local ferals had 2 litters, 3 and 5 kitts. We were in the process of getting all the adults spayed/neutered, but didn’t get two in time. I knew we couldn’t afford to pay for extra food and healthcare, no matter how adorable they were. So after they were weaned, I hauled them all inside to my front room and two at a time we went to the vet. All healthy. I had about 2 months with them and taught them all the best kitten tricks like tummy rubs and play fighting. When it came time for adoption, they were picked two at a time, so they all got to stay with a sibling! ❤️ What a rewarding experience it was to watch them from birth and make sure they were all getting extra nutrition (tiniest one was an aggressive eater, a special case. We called her Omnom). Excellent job rescuing the little fuzzlings.
It is a very rewarding experinece)). I wish people would adopt them in pairs here too but this just never happens.

Cats who have both black and orange fur are always female. Something to do with the chromosomes.
Thank you. Three-colored kittens are usually not that common. I once fostered a litter where 2 out of 6 were three-coloured but this is a new record))
@@8698gil black and/orange fur colors are an X-linked trait in cats, meaning that the genes responsible are found on the X chromosome. This explains why orange cats are 75-80% male and nearly all tortoiseshell and calico cats are female.
