I get so annoyed when people complain that reading graphic novels is cheating just because they're quicker to get through. Graphic novels are awesome! I read wayy more graphic novels/manga/comics than regular novels and I'm enjoying myself so who cares smh

They are cool - I had to read a couple for uni like bitch planet and maus and I don’t think it’s cheating cos tbh I don’t think of them as novels like they are different both are awesome but you can’t be like it’s an easy book it’s just different!

Always wanted to get back into reading ever since losing a lot of my motivation for it in high school!! I am a junior in college and found book tube towards the end of 2019 and I have read 39 books this year!!!!! I am so excited for 2021!!! Thank you for being a huge part of encouraging my love for it again🥰

That’s why I started writing a brief summary of what happened in the book while I am reading it. I will do this for any book in a series. So let’s say I go to start book 3 I can just read the summary of books 1&2 what I wrote. Easy Peasy!!!

I tend to forget what happened in books pretty quickly too...so in general if all the books in a series aren't out yet, I will wait so I can binge them. And I do wait a bit before starting the next book, but also usually I read 2 books at a time, so I don't get overwhelmed by the series that easily :)

I can relate to not remembering what happened in a book. I have epilepsy and my seizures damage my memory so I remember what happens in a book for a little bit and then forget it all. I can also relate to buying a lot of books 😅😂

I actually have a great tip for when your reading a fantasy/syfy series of books and you don’t want to be burned out. I read a different genre in between each series book like right now I’m reading a fantasy series; so I go first fantasy, then contemporary, second fantasy, another contemporary. I just keep that pattern up switching out one genre for another and it keeps me from burning out.

I have been trying to be better about buying a lot of books so unless its a book I've been highly anticipating, I will try and borrow it from the library first and then if I absolutely love it I will buy the book to keep for my collection or I'll buy a back listed book used (used bookstores are my weakness lol)

I agree with you about dnf'ing books that aren't working for you. I find that trying to stick with one that isn't is the fastest way to start a slump. If I have to finish it for some reason, I break it up with books I enjoy so I avoid the slump.

I don’t mind lending books but people take forever to give them back lol. A friend and I did a book swap of like 10-15 books each in May. I got all of them back by august (didn’t read all of them because I wasn’t interested) but she still has 5 of them. I miss them. My shelves look sad without them

I once used to be SUPER excited to lend my books out to my friends because it meant I could talk to someone about my feelings later (lol). I once leant out 3 books in a series (Private by Kate Brian, total high school trashy mystery/romance), and I was SO excited for my friend to read them and discuss the series with me. She put them in her trunk when she went to college and threw in snow gear in the trunk with them. Totally ruined the books. While I have forgiven her, I decided I will never again lend out books.

For the only one disliking a book that everyone loves, I struggle to find people who align! I often search the book title in youtube to see if anyone has reviewed or vlogged it. Sometimes I find people which is awesome! Most times, I don't. I wish reviews and stuff got a resurgence but they just don't get views. I cry.

I'm trying to get better about DNFing books since I've been doing exactly what you said and burning out by forcing myself to read too many books I'm unhappy with, but I have a really hard time walking away from books even if I'm not enjoying them. Any advise on how to overcome that hurdle and get used to DNFing books? Even if I know I want to DNF a book my perfectionist tendencies are too strong and I feel like I need to finish it. I would love to know how you got more comfortable with DNFing books!!

You could try putting books you dont enjoy "on break". Decide not to read more of them for a few days to a week. At the end of the time, you could either pick it back up or DNF. It might be easier to DNF this way as you will have detached before you decide to quit it

i feel like a big problem that comes with being a reader is seeing books which get so much hype. let me explain: ACOTAR is so overhyped but it’s actually not that good purely because it’s so overhyped. it bothers me bc i’ve read so many genuinely amazing books but they don’t get enough hype

I don't get people who get mad that you or someone else buys yourself a lot of books. It's not THEIR money you're spending, it's yours, you also run a book channel, it's your job. Even if it wasn't, who cares, I use the library a lot, but guess what still own over a 1,000 physical books and ebooks. Don't listen to what anyone says, it's your life and your money, and it's what you want to spend it on.
