What a lot of people don't realize is that the can actually (usually) has an extremely thin plastic layer that coats the inside so that the drink does not actually touch the aluminum. I myself prefer the can however, because even with that plastic layer, it still has a 'metallicy' taste that I like. Probably due to the tip of the tongue tasting the outside rim of the can lol.

I was a manager at two locations. The only thing I did that may have changed the flavor was made the crew clean the damn nozzles every night. So really, just made sure everything was clean. What a concept.

It is also just a big nostalgia thing. People grew up with glass bottles, so they associate it with tasting better because it came with good feelings as a kid. In terms of protecting freshness, cans are the best, followed by plastic.

Oh you are very mistaken. A huge portion of profit comes from Coca-Cola. McDonald's has their own recipe and everything. The fountain is specialized for quick, consistant pours. The cups are even tested to how the material changes the flavor. The ice is shaped to melt even a certain way.
When selecting a fountain drink I always put a little in the bottom of my cup to try it before I commit to a full cup. I’ve been screwed over way too many times with bad mixes.
Not so, the drink spends weeks inside the container which is affecting the flavor, aside from glass. A few minutes in the glass is not going to reverse this

I feel like drinking it FROM the container is what makes the difference/holds the carbonation. Pourong them all into glasses seems kinda redundant.

Not so, the drink spends weeks inside the container which is affecting the flavor, aside from glass. A few minutes in the glass is not going to reverse this
Soda from a can will always be better. You'll never convince it's not the best way. The metal keeps it colder and just everything is Perfecto

The reason you can’t “taste” a can is because the inside of the aluminum can is lined with an invisible plastic sheet.
That is definitely untrue. I can absolutely taste the metallic aluminum. That's why I prefer plastic bottles. No aluminum taste.

@@englishatheart It is definitely true. The inside has a coating. Both to protect the aluminium from the acidic drink, and to prevent the drink from getting a metallic taste.
I have always tasted the metal in cans.

For me its Taco Bell Dr Pepper..they do something to it and its amazing

as some who currently works at a Steak N’ Shake burger joint.. i can confirm that our soda comes from bagged syrup that then gets mixed with carbonated water.
I hated changing the boxed syrups

I think for fountain as well that the ice and straw are a big part of it. Quick sip and an blast of cold fizzy soda on your tongue.
