Jesus will set you free. He makes a way out of every temptation. Focus on Him and you will one day live Holy and be where Christ wants you to be, he’s forgiven you, blessed you with everlasting life. Be strong and seek Him daily. He’s stronger and will strengthen you also.

Chuck Missler says, "He's not a horse thief because he stole a horse; He stole a horse because he's a horse thief."
Thank you for going deep with that teaching.
    I've never actually stolen a horse, but I realize I'm a horse thief...and forgiven.
Because of that, He's going to GIVE ME A HEAVENLY HORSE. 🕊️

Finally, someone said it! These are the truths that made me free 6 months ago from my struggle of wanting to surrender to the Lord but I couldn't. Let me go ahead and share my testimony.
I grew up in a Christian home and I first heard the “gospel” when I was 7. I said the prayer and was done. From age 7 to 11, I was in the “I said the prayer, I can do whatever I want, God is a genie” camp. I went to church every weekend but didn’t really have a connection with God.
However, when I was 11 in 2015, I got caught up in all the rapture stuff. This made me start to question my salvation. I found a video on UA-cam that said most Christian’s won’t be ready for the rapture. It basically said we haven’t to repent of our sins and stop sinning.
I took this to the extreme and tried under my own power completely relying on myself to stop sinning and make heaven. I couldn’t do it and 2 months or so later I stopped and went back to the life I was living.
In early 2017 was the first time I heard the concept of surrendering to the Lord. I learned I have to surrender and live for Him. I ended up surrendering to Him for a month but then I fell away.
Between 2017 and 2020, it was a constant battle. I would want to surrender, but I couldn’t and didn’t want to at the same time. I would maybe surrender for a day to a week, but I would eventually go right back to the life I was living before.
I had my longest and most zealous streak (that is until recently) in 2020 when I started watching Christian videos I guess because of the pandemic at the time and I was curious about the end times. I ended up commenting on one of the videos and someone replied to me. I ended up living for God for 3 weeks but then fell back into sin. After this, I became hopeless.
Between then and almost 6 months ago, it was completely back and forth. It was tormenting because I wanted to surrender to God, but at the same time, I didn't want to and couldn't. I came to a complete place of hopelessness because I had tried everything to live for God but I couldn't. I would maybe surrender for 1 week when something major happened in my life, but then I would fall away.
That is until about 6 months ago. It was almost 6 months ago that Jesus finally pulled me out of this rut. It was finally when I got the revelation that all that time I had been trying to live for God under my own strength under the power of the flesh, which obviously didn't work.
In reality, I needed to rest in Christ in who he had made me to be (a son) and everything would just flow out of that.
See, it's all about knowing your identity that you are a new creation in Christ, walking in the Spirit, and dying to the flesh. After believing and identifying myself with this, I naturally stopped sinning (not by striving, it just happened, you just don't desire it anymore) and had this unexplainable urge and desire for God.
Now, instead of having to force myself to pursue God, I just do. There's something in me that even still 6 months later longs for Him now (and that desire continues to grow). Now there are times I still kind of have to force myself for example to read my Bible, especially in the mornings, but deep down I want to now. (then again that might be because I'm too groggy in the morning sometimes because sometimes I wake up to early.)
And that all leads me into my next point. See, with the flesh and our human nature, it is easy to get caught up into performance because that's how the flesh works. Where what we do or what's happening determines our value and worth to God. But then again if we were to have to be righteous under our own strength and keep the law, then Jesus died for nothing. I mean think about society and this life and how engrained performance is in our society.
So it's all about the renewing of your mind in who you've become in Christ.
One thing that the Lord continues to work in me is to walk by faith, not by sight. Don't base your identity or your worth or who you are based on what you're seeing (again, performance comes into play here), but on who God says you are.
TLDR: It's all about resting in Christ and knowing your identity, and reckoning yourself dead to sin and to yourself, alive to Christ, and walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Stop striving and let the Holy Spirit flow through you.
I hope this encourages anyone reading this who is in the same situation I was. You will come out of this if you keep seeking, because eventually you will reach a point of brokenness and come to the end of yourself and your striving (that is the key).
The concept of "overcoming sin" is such a scam. If you think about it kind of like you said, the striving is inhernently self centered.
Why do we need to overcome something we are supposed to have died to?

Thank you for taking the time to type all this. This comment may not have many likes, unfortunately, but know that you have helped me, a Christian in the position you used to be in. I will remember what you said here. As it is written, God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. A son does not strive to earn his father's love or acceptance. Why, he is already loved. We tend to forget that we are the children of God now in Christ. When you truly get to terms with that reality, things will come into place. Thank you and God bless you. (I hope we get a feature to save comments so that I can read this one from time to time)

@@alright272 Correct. A lot of Christians seem stuck in the slave mentality. We are indeed servants of God, but our service is of love, freedom and joy, like SONS, not fearful, burdensome, forceful or even despiteful, like slaves. Things like denying yourself, crucifying the flesh etc etc happen automatically when you live with the reality of Sonship through Christ. Slowly you will desire to do it, instead of doing it out of obligation or fear

*So* *true* - I had a ton of self righteous hurt based on some pretty bad experiences. After God truly woke me up and I understood the concept of forgiving like Christ forgave, I just kept talking it out with Jesus. After a while I realized the self-pitying habits were broken. I could have spent thousands of dollars in therapy and not got this far. The Holy Spirit directed me and did all that work. When I put two and two together I was astounded.🙏🙏🙏 God is good when we get out of the way. 💕

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT!!!! Awesome message!!!! It took me years to understand His grace and forgiveness. For years I was convinced that God was going to make me crash my car because He's perpetually mad at me. Not that I was sinning up a storm, I just saw Him as this scary, angry God who was going to 'get me.' My skewed view of Him was colored by my earthly father I realized. And after years of this fear, I realized that God has ALWAYS dealt gently with me and still does - I'm still amazed! I was so afraid of Him at one point that I stopped praying/fellowshipping with Him for three months but He brought me out of that which was a miraculous story. Again, excellent message. You're a smart dude. :) :)

This is my story too, Carol. I’ve been a Christian since 10/6/1974. I started in a legalistic church, but it was the upbringing in a broken angry home that continually messed with me understanding grace and believing that God loves me. I fall into performance many times but the many grace teachers I have found on UA-cam have really helped me to break free. But I know I have a long way to go.

this is worded incredibly well, i often say this almost like an equation... condemnation = lie, condemnation leads to shrinking back, and shrinking back causes an "artificial seperation" from God that is imaginary, because once you come into agreement with the lie, that is condemnation, the shrinking back creates the arficial seperation, but if you choose to not believe the lie then the imaginary separation dissolves, and the perpetual fellowship becomes apparent

Are you suggesting that 1 John 1:9 is to confess after we are saved?
It seems like that is what you are teaching.
I don't see it that way.
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
In vs 7 it talks about the blood cleansing us.
      That is only done once.
Without blood there is mo remission of sin.
So in context vs 9 would make most sense to be about confessing and being clensed upon believing.

      @davidbenjamininchrist  7 місяців тому +1

Do a search on my channel for 1st John 1:9. I have a lot of teachings on it but it's not a practice for a believer. It's talking about the difference between a believer and an antichrist and Antichrist denies. He has sin and also denies that Christ is the propitiation for his sins and the sins of the whole world. And Antichrist is in darkness and the truth is not in him. That's not talking about believers hiding their sin. That's talking about someone who abides in death who hates the brethren and is an antichrist. The problem with trying to practice 1st. John 1:9 is thinking that you're going to be cleansed and if you do it and not if you don't. It is perfectly fine in a relationship to apologize to the Lord. And even acknowledge your offense. And even along the way, we are a mix because we know he cleansed us, but sometimes we just need to go through the little ritual. All of that is acceptable. He's not a tyrant or a legalist about any of it. But what he doesn't want us to do is to think somehow that we're in darkness because we sin or that his forgiveness has not been applied. And that's what we teach against. We teach against people using those verses to attack believers when they're twisted out of context anyway. But then after a while you have to clarify again because people start making rules about well. If I apologize for my sin then maybe I'm violating something now. All of that is legalism

Hi David, amazing video! I agree, watchman nees books have really helped me too. I have a question, I recently witnessed to a friend and he told me he doesn't have to confess his sins or even think about sin because Jesus died for all of our sins and the only sin is unbelief. He asked me what I do when I sin. I told him that I confess my sin to God and he is faithful and just to forgive me of my sin and to cleanse me of all unrighteousness. He scoffed at me and said that that's a Catholic teaching and that he is perfected by the blood of Jesus for past, present and future sins, so he needs not to ask for cleansing since he is already cleansed. I tried to refute his answer by pointing to 1 John 1:9 but he just kept on bringing up Hebrews 10:14. I told him we can't cherry pick scripture but have to look at the whole of God's word. He became hostile towards me and the conversation didn't end well. This is the first time I've heard this and I'm kind of in the dark about how to answer him. I would really love to hear back from you concerning this. Thank you and God bless

    • @davidbenjamininchrist
      @davidbenjamininchrist  Рік тому

Sorry I have a very different view on this topic and I've taught extensively about it. I believe it is Perfectly Natural to confess sins because our conscience troubles us and we want to fellowship with the Lord however if it is ever taught that this is a requirement in order to restore Fellowship it becomes in a curse gospel because the gift of the spirit is not God's response to Confession of sin or repentance or any work we do the spirit and the fellowship is a free gift secured in justification. 1st John 1:9 is in fact misused and unfortunately if you do that and say that first John 1:9 is speaking about a believer's practice to confess sins in order to have fellowship with God, then you have to argue if you're going to be consistent with first John that the believer can be in and out of fellowship and in and out of Darkness. Furthermore the believer is the one in whom the truth does not dwell who is lying if he doesn't confess his sins and is therefore walking in darkness and if you follow that through to First John 3 you end up having to say that the believer is the one who's possibly not of God and is of the devil and is the one that hates his brothers and walks in darkness even now like Cain hated Abel and therefore it's possible that the believer might not have eternal life. Because first John all hangs together and it's making one point that centers on Cain and Abel in chapter 3. In fact 1st John is not prescribing a practice of confessing sins to maintain fellowship with God. First John is describing the difference between an antichrist and a believer. It is the Antichrist who denies that he has sin, but also denies that Jesus is the Christ and the propitiation for the sins of the whole world and also denies the Brethren who have the testimony of Christ and refuses to recognize them as children of God. He is like kane, who hated Abel because Abel was accepted on the basis of faith in the blood as represented by his sacrifice. The Antichrist hates the propitiation hates the way God justifies hates Grace and hates the children of God. He is the one who is said to be walking in darkness the truth is not in him and yet he boasts that he has fellowship with God knows God and loves God while hating the brothers and denying the work of Christ. If you say that first John 1:9 is teaching that we must confess our sins then it ends up overturning the faith of any believer who continues to read the rest of the book because they will come to the conclusion that they may be the ones who do not have eternal life because they believe they're in darkness. And then there comes The question as well, what does it mean to confess is it the same as repenting? And do I have to confess all my sins and how do I know when they're confessed. If God is withholding Fellowship from me until I confess how do I know that I've confessed enough? All the the believer who's asking these kind of questions has gotten his eyes off of Jesus Christ and is no longer approaching God based on faith in the blood but is in fact shrinking back in shame because of his sins thinking God has turned from him. And yet John told us he wrote these things to us that we may have boldness at the Judgment seat and confidence and not showing back in shame. If you do a channel search on my channel for confession of sins you'll find plenty and I have a first John playlist. Most people by default believe that confession of sins is a practice to maintain fellowship with God however it is a traditional teaching that really doesn't have a basis in the word but contradicts it. But that is not to say that we do not have sins. And I would say that anybody who is arguing against you with 1st John 1:9 being the topic most likely is not at all aware of what first John is even about. Basically if they're talking to you and they're not mentioning Cain and Abel they don't know what first John is about because that is the key to unlocking the whole book and without that as the center you're going to get it wrong

@David Benjamin-ChristiansNeedTheGospel Hi, sorry I messaged you earlier but I had to delete it because I was using someone else's email on accident. I'm messaging you from another phone. Thanks for your reply. I can't relay to you the whole conversation I had with my friend. It would take too long. But it wasn't a question about salvation or maintaining salvation through confession. We both agree salvation is based upon the finished work of Jesus Christ and our being joined to Him. The only reason why I brought up 1 john 1:9 to him is because he was telling me he doesn't sin. He asked me what sin was? I said it was transgression against the law of God. He told me that that isn't sin anymore, only unbelief is. When I tried to probe into that question, he cut me off and asked me what I do when I sin? I told him i look to the Cross and remember where my sins were taken away. Then I confess my sin's unto God, knowing that he has forgiven me in Christ. He started scoffing at me as though my response was sinful. It shocked me. I compared our relationship to God with marriage. I asked him how many times do we say I do? He said once. I then asked him, but how many times do you ask your wife for forgiveness? He said many times, too many times to count. I said it's the same way with God. We say I do once and it doesn't mean that every time I sin I have to say my vows all over again. But because I'm in a living relationship with God and I understand that He is a person with feelings understanding that sin grieves him, I want to apologize, but it doesn't mean that I'm going in and out of salvation every time I sin. No, I'm definitely not saying that. But he told me that there is no sin but unbelief. I told him that Christianity is not a formula but a living relationship with the living God through the person of Jesus Christ. I asked him how he would feel if his wife hurt him every day and never apologized because she thought within herself, I don't need to apologize because I'm already married to this guy and he's stuck with me. He has to keep his vows. I told him apologizing makes for a healthy relationship. I think that's where he's struggling. He's looking at Christianity like a mathematical formula and I'm trying to make him see that it's a real relationship with God. I know that we can do nothing to save ourselves. For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. So, just to clear things up, it wasn't an argument about justification but rather what should one do when one has sinned. I didn't know how to get through to him because he doesn't think sin exists. I guess his conscience doesn't bother him because he's convinced himself that sin no longer exists. This is my problem. Please reply. Thank you

@@davidbenjamininchrist I had an evangelism team a few years back. We had been street preaching for about 5 years but I had to drop out and spend some alone time with God. Everyone started gaining knowledge and through the knowledge egos were being inflated. To the point where no one could say anything to anyone because everyone knew it all already. It was sad. Also, I started becoming self righteous feeling like I was such a great guy because I was a marine for Christ on the front lines battling it out with atheists, Buddhists, new age etc.... Lol. Then God's presence was no longer felt, It felt dark and cold and I was trying to retrace my steps, to no avail. I cried out to God one night in desperation having come to the end of myself and then once again when I woke the next morning pleading with tears. I opened my tablet and the very first suggestion was watchman nee The normal christian life. I don't know how it appeared there I wasn't searching for watchman nee The night before, crazy. I didn't want to read it because years prior to this I had heard someone slandering watchman nee and I used to believe anyone I thought was godly. I was scrolling past it but then a strong urge came over me to go back and read it. Thank God I did. That book removed the scales from my eyes. Crazy though because in all the years I've preached I've never heard anyone give me the response my friend did.

No actually you didn't make it sound like we needed to do that to be saved. I was just clarifying that I have a very different view than most Christians because they don't understand what the book of First John is about. But regarding our relationship with the Lord I understand what you're saying about the person who treats it like doctrinal formula and there is a heresy going around that says that basically Christians can do the same thing as an unbeliever but it's not sin because God actually redefined what sin is. It's a perversion of Paul's truth that we are crucified with Christ and died to the law. They say that because we died to the law which is what defines sin then that means it's not sin anymore. So therefore they don't sin. It's different than the sinless Perfection people that actually believe that they're so holy they don't sin this is a trickery of word play. If you go back about seven videos of mine I addressed this heresy directly into videos just look for the word heresy. But regarding our relationship with the Lord it really is more more that we learn to deal with him based on Christ because that's how he deals with us. It's not like a marriage in the traditional sense where two people come together and have an agreement and try to coexist based on an arrangement. Our marriage to Christ is more that we came out of his side out of his death and resurrection and we are bone if his bone and flesh of his flesh. When we then by the way we don't upset god. It's our own conscience that is struggling and so we resort to various means to deal with our confidence but it is true that the only way to deal with the conscience is through the purging of the blood and the only way to have the purging of the blood is by the acknowledgment of faith. Confession of sin actually doesn't profit Us in that regard. Confession of sin is a reminder of sin. Just like in Hebrews the sacrifices they continually offered could not perfect their conscience and allow them to draw near because with them there was a reminder of sin. But in the holiest there is no reference to sin the scapegoat has been taken away and burned with the sins on it and you don't bring the scapegoat into the holiest you bring a blood of a spotless Lamb with no reference to sin. And God would like to deal with us without reference to sin. But that does take some maturity in the faith and there's a lot of people that don't have any maturity they just have a doctoral argument and they're trying to formula their way into a perfected conscience by silencing their conscience that's not the same thing as being purged from dead Works to serve the Living God through the blood and by the spirit

Hello brother. A brother in Christ questioned, "How do we realise we cannot overcome sin but then put in context, Paul beating his own flesh into submission? That sound like a personal effort to overcome sin." And I answered that sometimes we have to put some effort on our part too. But then I realised I maybe wrong. Because it's only when I go back to the cross and realise that I am cleansed that my weakness has been made strong. How do I answer to this question?

Paul was not talking about Sin per se he was talking about following his own appetites in Ministry to keep from adulterating the word of God and keeping the ministry pure. He was talking about how he disciplates himself in order to be credible in the ministry. He does that not because he's fearful that God's going to judge him or that he's terrified that he might sin but Paul's concern was that the gospel would not be discredited through anything he did and this was purely out of his Joy of service not compulsion. It's a bad example to try to use that to talk about Sin in general and most people who are talking about Sin when they talk about that verse have never done anything related to Ministry

For some reason I don't think I ever saw this comment. I think UA-cam gave me another comment which I responded to and then it inserted my response here. This is weird. I've had this happen a number of times this week. Yes, the law is a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ, but now that faith has been revealed, we are no longer under the schoolmaster. The purpose of the law is simply to show you, your sin, and the condemnation and the judgment. It cannot save. But the gospel tells you who Christ is what he's done and brings you into his grace by justifying you freely through faith when there was no way you could be qualified in your unknown righteousness. So the law is the diagnosis and Jesus is the prescription

      @@davidbenjamininchrist That’s ok, brother.
The distinction between Law and Grace is one that I had to learn the particularly hard way. In fact, parts of your testimony resonate with my own, especially church experiences and collisions with works-based Christians.
I’ve pretty much given up at the moment, after reaching a point where it was almost an impasse; I had severe ‘religious OCD’, the enemy was on my back 24/7, convinced I wasn’t saved, then add that to real life struggles IE single parent, unemployed due to a health condition/ASD burnout, it’s been a time of regrouping and trying to get myself back in the prayer closet and opening that Bible again.
I think I’ve had a ‘reset’ of sorts, to be honest.
Still, thank you for your reply, and I hope your ministry is going well. 👍🏻 Praise God that we have brethren like yourself, who have been through such similar scenarios in their Walk as I have.

Why do I feel guilty for not wanting to overcome sin
For example like drinking every night.

    • @davidbenjamininchrist
      @davidbenjamininchrist  Рік тому +6

f you feel guilty about not wanting to stop drinking, it means that your struggle is complex. You may think that you should feel guilty, but the numbness you feel when you give in to temptation and drink might be stronger. It's common to feel guilty when our actions conflict with our beliefs. However, this guilt is not necessarily from God but is often the result of our own conscience. (Romans 2:15)
What matters is not how you feel, but your faith in Jesus and his finished work. You can find acceptance and freedom from sin through faith in his blood. Fellowship with God is not based on our feelings, but on our knowledge of Christ's finished work. As we grow in this knowledge, we can stand increasingly in Christ and find certain sins falling away from us. (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:13-14, Colossians 2:13-14)
We can't overcome sin on our own. Only Christ can overcome sin, and he did so in his death and resurrection. He provides the freedom that we obtain only in relationship and fellowship with him. We tend to think that we can't have fellowship with him until we overcome sin or produce the right feelings about it. But fellowship with God has nothing to do with our feelings; it's based entirely on the work of Christ and is only available to us through faith in the finished work of Christ, faith in his blood. (Romans 7:18-20, Romans 8:3-4, 1 Corinthians 15:57)
We need to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and what he accomplished through the word and learn to fellowship with God on the basis of our knowledge of that finished work. Then we can stand increasingly in Christ, in the spirit, and in the atmosphere of liberty that Christ purchased for us. As we do, we'll find that certain sins fall off of us not as a result of overcoming the sin, but as a result of looking away from the whole situation and no longer trying to "purchase" something with our feelings, vows, or resolutions. (2 Corinthians 3:17, Galatians 5:1)
We need to keep pursuing the knowledge of the truth and asking the Lord to reveal himself to us. Over time, we can grow into the freedom he purchased for us. It's also essential to pay close attention to what kind of theological food we're allowing into our diet. We can't mix law and grace and expect to have any kind of deliverance. We need to stand squarely and solidly in grace and shut out any teaching that contradicts the bountiful supply of Christ as the source of everything in the Christian life, until we're fully convinced that he is the way, the truth, and the life, and there is no other way that will work. (John 14:6, Galatians 2:16, Galatians 3:10-14)
Sensationalism is usually the source of legalistic teaching that just perpetuates bondage. So we need to shut down channels that deal with sensationalism, which we tend to gravitate to when we're bored and despairing. Instead, we should focus on growing in our faith and seeking guidance from God. By working towards a deeper understanding of his love and grace, we can find the strength to overcome our struggles and find true freedom in Christ. (Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:6-7, Hebrews 4:15-16)
