I had a Boat load off Bubble algea. Covered the rocks, powerheads etc. I used a product called 'vibrant' once a week and boom, no more bubble algea (may have to use slighly more than manufacture recommended... Worked Super well and i had changed nothing else in my tank.. Only thing you Must do is watch your nutrients as it can lower nutrients and even out compete your chaeto etc if you have any. So if fluconazole doesent work look into virbant. (BRS did a video on it recently). Ur tank is looking awsome! Those torches are amazing.
The vibrant was formulated to deal with bubble and other algae specifically. The fluconazole was not - its pill that kills fungal infection that happens to kill bryopsis and we learned that by overdosing we can kill green hair and other algae. It - I would use the right tool for the right job. Good luck and please do an update and let us know what happened. If it did work, that's another reefer and more evidence that fluconazole can work for bubble algae too.
Dosed the x3 fluconazol 2 days ago and all coral and fish are perfectly fine. The bubble algae is already turning slightly white so it is looking promising. I would not have done it if I did not fully trust the person that told me about it as it does sound like it would be a lot of meds but so far so good.
@@MoeReefs plus one on vibrant. I dosed it and the very next day I found bubble algae chunks caught on my sponge filter in my sump. No after issues with anything else in the tank. Only thing I did was monitor nutrients during the process and adjust accordingly.
@@justforkiks29 I might still use it if what I am doing dose not work. I just don't like the vinegar part of the ingredients. Wish that had a version with out it.
Beautiful tank...I have had good luck eliminating bubble algae by removing the rock, scrubbing vigorously and rinsing with salt water away from the tank. Over time it was completely gone!
I had a small bubble algae issue, too. Got a little foxface and he ate it all within a couple of days. Still a model citizen in my reef, no issues at all.
Those orange acans seem to be super tasty to any fish or inverts that eat any bubble algae or aptaisia. Was thinking about it but too much invested in the coral to do any more animals that have a higher potential of eating coral.
Tank looks AWESOME!!! Let us know how the triple dose goes. I used Vibrant which hurt my Turf Scrubber which caused an increase in nutrients. Always something to fight. Good luck with everything.
I enjoyed watching your video thank you I got RedSea 525XL tank running calcium reactor I do dos amino acid plus a b c construction from aquaforest what I have done I just took a root brash and brasher the rocks and cut the bubble algae off also I am running refugium chaeto pompom looks good
Honestly once you leave fish only it gets hard and for some reason others struggle with (seems simple pick out good quality and if you don't quarantine). Corals and inverts are much more difficult and although I have only lost one cleaner shrimp, corals are not growing while fish are.
I feel like having a bigger tank makes more problems because you can’t really see the issue right away as when you have a small tank you can spot things easier and fix them before it becomes a real problem
Bubble algae is easy to remove while working on the nutrients it's using. Take the siphoning tube off your WC hose and simply suck it up while doing WC's. I've had luck eradicating it in that manner w/o even addressing excess nutrients.
Hydrogen peroxide will kill bubble algae so if you have any rocks - or powerheads 😳 - with it on them, and they can be removed from the tank, a dip in 3% hydrogen peroxide will kill the bubble algae. Certain corals can tolerate it as well, for no more than 2 minutes. Tank is looking awesome! 👍🏻
I have a no rock removal policy lol. Every time int he past when I remove rock I feel I start a mini cycle or stunt growth so it is absolutely a last resort option to me. Dosed the x3 fluconazol 2 days ago and the bubble algae is already starting to turn white and all corals and fish are perfectly fine. Going to do another update real soon so I calm down the vibrant police haha.
Have you ever experienced rapid tissue necrosis on your acros after moving them from a lower dKH tank to a higher dKH one? If so what the fix? Can’t imagine any hitch hikers as all corals are quarantined and dipped.
I try not to use any chemicals unless all else fails but had a slight bubble algae issue recently and manually removed it, took quite a while to do as you got to try not to pop any or it will spread but just used a scalpel while syphoning into a filter sock. Might be worth trying these methods firsts before adding chemicals. Good luck 👍
Oh man. lol. I had to mix up a new saltwater batch in a bucket. Then you have to sit there and empty your skim cup until it gets the water back to normal. I emptied about 3 gallons of skimmate in a couple of hours and replaced that with the new batch of water I had in the other bucket.
Hi thanks for sharing. Lovely corals my man. Would you kindly share you waters parameters with me. Like phosphate, nitrate etc and how you manage them? I was also thinking of setting my reefer 250 up bare bottom or maybe with little sand for the wrasse. What are you thoughts on little to no sand? Thanks
I am also interested in bare bottom. One day when I set up another tank I will most likely do it. I am thinking putting a tray of sand somewhere in the back corner for the sand sleeping wrasses but not sure how that would work with more than one of those types of wrasse. Possibly have multiple sand trays tucked away. Also if I go that route I want to cover the bottom of the tank in white vinyl so the light bounces back as it does with sand.
The only animal I know and have experienced in eliminating bubble algae in my 120 gallon tank is a juvenile Vlamingi tang . It was an accidental discovery for me , I had my tank infested with bubble algae everywhere and I thought of giving up . My colleague who started a small tank gave up due to cost and without warning appeared at my door with this fish in a bucket . I thought nothing about it and added this fish into the tank . Now , I personally did not want to keep any type of tang in my tank but since I thought of giving up , might be able to sell or give away this fish . But 3 days in , I noticed lesser amount of bubble algae and a day later saw it going after a free floating bubble algae and swallowed it whole . It also went after the bubble algae that was stuck in the overflow comb . After a week of adding the juvenile Vlamingi Tang , there were none left .
I know. Lol. Got a new mic and don't like it much. Next time I can start with "Hello are you interested in website design services sir? Only half off this month only."
Vibrant will do the job 💯😉 just have to keep a eye/test nutrients daily and try your best to keep them stable or you will run into problems IMO same goes for fluconazole... good luck 😁✌🏽
natural would include algae ;) chems are only a cheat 9 times outta 10 and a last resort for sure, better to have a bit of algae and something that likes that algae as food. Looking nice man
I try to give them plenty of room. Once in a while they will touch another coral and one of them has to be moved or the torch might kill the other coral.
