I grow the Czar runner beans, and I keep all mine for dried beans. You'll love them I'm sure as the beans are super tasty. Last summer I had a huge crop from mine, and fingers crossed I get the same again this year.
Alot of those seedlings are looking quite leggy, time to get them some sunshine and potted on , runner beans, im growing red flowering and peach flowering , i dont bother blanching, just shred at an angle, bag and freeze , also dry lots, some for eating some for next years seed, coz thats free😁😁😁😁😁😁🥰🥰
Yes, they are not loving life in the conservatory and the days are still so dull! I’ll move them all to the polytunnel and hopefully they’ll do a lot better. Oooh I bet the peach ones will look amazing 😍
I suggested the nettle strulch chop up with brambles for extra protection and change often 50 odd years ago clearing my grandads allotment I noticed no slug or snails living in the bramble and nettle patch been using it ever since happy gardening Richard x
hey , i had 4 of those coldframes, first storm they all got launched into the stratasphire and fell to pieces , as for the artichokes, let them die right back, then cut off the dead stuff, when ready dig up the tubers and put one back in the hole for next year, i tend to put 2 back, one in the hole and one in a new place to increase my stock ,,,,,,,, right ill carry on watching the vid
I have a cheap Wilko cold frame. I just used a few little brackets to screw it to raised beds next to it. Lasted a few years so far, and hasn't budged.
Use the nettle or any weed tea on anything or any plant, used it on half the corn plants last summer, those ones produced 2 to 4 cobs per plant, the other plants produced 1 and tried a second cob, plant sizes were also so different. The nettle/weed tea fed corn plants were big and bushy.
Jerusalem artichokes have the unfortunate second name of fartichokes!😊 They spread like mad and have a ton of tubers. If you can tolerate them you will have produce for ever. They have a beautiful flower too.
Oh nettle strulch good idea. Flowers on the broad beans is a great sign mine haven’t done that yet. I agree you may need to put the cold frame inside 🤞🤞. I don’t pot on my cosmo and marigold flowers 😅 I just leave them as is and pot out when big enough. I put my poor tomatoes outside today. The first smaller pots should work for the flowers. Hope all is well have a marvellous weekend Amie, Ali 🌤️🇨🇦
The nettle tea can be used after two weeks and mix it 1 part to ten parts water .You can use it on most things 🙂Yes your cosmos and asters ect all need potting individually They should all be fine in the polytunnel now .
Love the Nettle strulch idea,i will be giving it ago. I had one of those cold frames from Lidl last year but it didn't last long as the wind took it. Can i ask where you got your tree cabbage seeds from as this is one thing i would like to have in my veggiegarden. Your plot is coming along lovely 😊
Thank you so much! Yes, the nettle strulch was an idea given by a comment here 😁 oh no! I’ll make sure I really anchor it down if the winds look high…it’s not sturdy at all, is it 🙈 I got the tree cabbage seeds from Real Seeds 😁
@@AmiesAllotment no it's not sturdy, anchor it down I had some wood and a brick along the top but that didn't stop it from being took by the wind. Thank you I will have a look and order some tree cabbage seeds.

It's all looking so good Amie 🥲💖 I love the rose arch that you share with your neighbour! Now I want one for the entrance to my plot too 😅

Unfortunately the artichokes all got eaten 🙈 I have 2 plants left so I will defend them with all that I have when they’re popped in!

Ah thank you! I wasn’t sure if there were certain things that didn’t like it 😁 that’s good about the increase in yield!

Ahaha oh no 🙈 I mainly bought them for the flower as they’re like mini sunflowers 🌻
@@AmiesAllotment Good plan! 🤣 That's what I do too.

Thank you! Yes, most of the broad beans now have flowers, I’m so excited! Oooh I hope your Tomatoes are okay!
Put the cold frame in the poly tunnel
Nettle tea can start being used after 3 weeks, and can be added to all during the year. Do not use on root vegs. 1 part tea to 10 part water.

Thank you! I’ll take them up there ready for potting them up 😁 a lot of back and forth with plants at the moment 🙈
