I live in Illinois close to the BNSF Chillicothe Sub. The Z Trains run through the little towns like Mazon,IL with a 60 or 70 mph track speed. They are really fun to watch. I've been to Chesterton too. Great video.
@@albertcarello619 Yes, I been to Ogden Dunes. Those lines are busy. There was nothing moving on the South Shore. It was temporarily shut down when I was there last Fall.
@@leadslinger49 That's because of the double tracking construction that's been going on east of Gary Metro Station to Michigan City IN there wasn't anything moving on the South Shore Line then. Double tracking very badly needed to schedule more trains in each direction. At least 14 more each way.
@dutchbrsd8: A really great place in the spring, summer, and fall. A very popular summer resort destination too! This winter though saw allot of snow being a major disruption.
Norfolk Southern…last to diesel…locomotives built backwards when dieselized (I’m guessing they thought they still used coal tenders), last to utilize DPUs…sounds like a wooden axle railroad to me. Don’t talk trash when you’re clueless.
@@bradstakeonlife He might want to consider living in Chesterton IN or Beverly Shores IN. I think lower taxes but more snow in the winter would be the one downside being just south of Lake Michigan.
watch the coal train around the 16 minute mark. Just keep watching the cars go by for about 20 - 30 seconds then take a look at the trees and they start moving.
They always have to have the same music when I call Verizon Customer Service Representatives and have to wait 2 hours plus and only get connected to the Philippines any time 24-7!!!!!! There are no more call centers in this country at all!!!!! Pretty soon 911 calls will also be routed to the Philippines!!!!!!!!!! Verizon Customer Service very bad!!!!!!!
Added subscription because it showed up after watching VR video. Thanks for the add.

Always love seeing 86ft boxcars!
I don’t mind the other train horns, but I love that horn as well
@sethbader3142: My favorite horns are the ones on the South Shore Line.
Nice video!
Thank you. I especially like to get the drone in the air. It adds a whole new perspective.
We live in the same town but I like going to Elkhart though
I would like to check out Elkhart sometime.
When we don was young we’d watch trains here. Most in one day 18
I would like to visit here!
I’m back in Chesterton right now. Another video soon!

Allot of people from Illinois are moving to Chesterton IN and Portage and Beverly Shores IN. Taxes are lower and the cost of living is too.
My son lives in Chicago. Pretty high cost of living.
