The big Things in my opinion about the Panasonic’s S5D is the price. In Amazon Spain you can get that camera with them 18-40 kit lens for 1140€ (around 1170$). Panasonic I agree is selling the same cámara as the S5 but worth honestly for the price. Only the kit 18-40 is around 500$.
@@Feliztividad thank you for the comment. Here in England it is now £999. I hear you and understand. The price when they released the camera it was too expensive. I guess now it's better. But I understand what you are saying.
Original S5 owner here - love this camera. I don't use the DJI stuff, don't use auto focus for video. Happy to stay where I am. Good advice from you. Not everyone has 3k 4k 5k to spend out on gear.
The S5D is simply a child of the fusion of Lumix and DJI. It doesnt need great autofocus because it will be using the LIDAR from DJI. It isnt a release for hobbyists.
@@SolaSly I know about the S5D and DJI Lidar. I think you misunderstood what I was discussing in this video. What I mentioned in the video is that it's literally the same sensor. The only difference is that the S5D's hardware is compatible with Lidar. But you are getting the same image. So if you are getting the same image it would just make sense just to get the OG S5. If one wants a better camera then they should get the S5 II or S5IIX. Even some of the Professionals have recommended the S5 II or II X or even the OG S5.
Hey! Just subscribed... Recently I watched videos about how those in Hollywood use the DJI "Wheels" (remote control focusing, etc.) and IT SEEMS like the S5D is for that target audience...perhaps a way to get some use out of the S5 bodies they already manufactured (kind of like recycling) as the HARDWARE can't be updated to PDAF, phase-detect AF
@@silverlightphotoco thank you for the Sub and watching. Maybe that might be the target audience. I agree about recycling S5 bodies. This reminds me of the GH5 II , it was a better update of the GH5 but most didn't buy it because they already owned the OG GH5 , or they were not interested in it or some were jumping to the S5 cameras.
I bought the S5D as a 2nd video camera (already have a S5ii) as it was on sale, so cost me around £400 less than the S5ii. I didn't realise it had a micro HDMI port, also no fan but I overheating isn't an issue on the regular S5. I'm missing out on 6k open gate but not important for me. You can get S5D for $300 brand new but you have to pay for $800 18-40mm kit which the lens alone cost $500 so you only pay $300 for S5D
