The response to the combine fire is the main reason why this country is GREAT!! Those are the people that make the world a better place. Happy to be associated with that kind of people. I really enjoy everyone here and how they work together and get along. Thanks guys, for the inspiration to do better, and the joy of coming along on your days. Brian makes me wish for the days when I was that young and spry.. Go man!! Good on you all for your response to the combine fire.

I think Brian was 17 when he bought that land. Years ago I was with the VFD working a grass fire. The wind was pretty strong and we were getting no where with it. The farmer next door came roaring through there with a disc and saved us. Never have seen a tractor go that fast in a field!

Took a while to raise the money because I'm sure his dad wouldn't just give it to him, but wanted him to learn the value of hard work to better his future. Since Cole is 23, that's why I'm thinking that. Have a great day and hopefully YOUR combine won't catch on fire! -- Blessings from Arizona

One of the biggest things I miss about the country is the way everyone comes together when there is a problem. Here in the city, if there's an accident, a fire, or an ambulance call, there will be a crowd gather, but just for the entertainment value. Most don't even know their neighbors, let alone bother to lend a hand when needed. When I was a kid in the country, people would flock when something would happen, but they always had something with them to help with, even if it was only a casserole, a pie or cake, an offer to care for the kids, all the way up to a piece of equipment (that was likely also needed at home), or like what Cole did here. Neighbors cared for neighbors because it is necessary and they know it will be returned when the need is there. I don't believe those who grew up in the city can truly understand. (Not beating up on city folk. I are one now, but I did all I could to teach my kids the values I grew up with.) In the city, there are government functionaries to tend to all neighbors are counted on for in the country. While this is good, there is a huge disconnect in the society as a result.
As a kid, I saw neighbors who didn't even like each other pull together when there was a need. They were neighbors in the full sense of the word.

Jerry well said, I grew up that way. Forty miles to the nearest hospital. A volunteer fire department, etc. When my father was in the hospital, his friends took turns running his business.
Now when shit hits the fan, everyone is on their phones filming instead of rolling up their sleeves and helping.

Aunt Joann would wait at the end of a row, and let us girls out into the back to stomp around in the grain! Great fun, except for the dead grasshoppers and other (can't remember which) insects!---I'm liking the ride-along with you fellas.

It's great that everybody runs to stop the fire, possibly because if it got big it might reach a few other farms. Self serving in one way but still a good thing to do for your neighbor. I’ve seen people helping each other, in North Carolina. Next door was burning trash and it got way from her. I was coming home saw it. We save house and barn but loss the 10 acres of corn . I’m glad it’s still happening.

Love watching this. I had no idea how incredibly hard farmers work.
I’d like to know how the corn harvester takes the kernels off the cob. Very clever mechanism
