the are still some greatly themed coasters in the USA, Velocicoaster for example, or most rides in Disney World, but basically, yes many coasters in the USA dont have theming
The first time I stood in front of Kärnan I didn´t know all the crazy facts about the intensity and the uniqueness. I was only thinking this is going to be a good ride. And then I got my seat in the first row on my first ride (a lucky man). I couldn´t really concentrate throughout the ride. I came out of this with hands shaking and blue lips. It was so fucking excellent, I got more and more rides on it after this. Every row was a big surprise fot itself. At home I googled for Kärnan and foundout all the facts making this a world class beast coaster. Stengel and Gerstlauer did a great job on this.
When I first rode this Rollercoaster I was really afraid of the reverse drop. But after I rode it I must say the reverse drop is the least intense part of the ride.
its a shame that this park is so unknown its awesome. the theming is great and the rides are great too i go there every year eventhough i live in north rhine westphalia
I also think they should but meh, the capacity of Kärnan is horrible, The ride is definetly one of the best in europe but it's a really big shame that they do nothing about the capacity.

The #1 in Germany. Sure, Taron exists and i love it as much, but when it comes down to thrill the vertical Drop in that Tower is just in any way more intense than whatever Taron has to offer. Kärnan is basically a good darkride attraction with a hypercoaster attached to it
what a great video! this is certainly one of the most, if not the most intense coaster in Germany. The only thing that's unfortunate about it is the roughness, especially during the first half of the layout.
lol especially the first half of the layout has no roughness to complain about, a little shaky maybe, yes, due to its crazy speed...i wonder why noone gets that...
This coaster is epic. It's relentless. The moment you crest the top and plunge from darkness to daylight is absolutely epic. There are very few drops better than this one. It is not the smoothest coaster out there, but with this kind of speed and so many effects I would choose this any day over a B&M or Intamin.
@@coasterbot Id like to witness the "smoothness" of Intamin or B&M coasters, when they fly through their layout like Kärnan does...the rattling on Kärnan comes from its crazy speed. and its not that bad either. Still my No.1 coaster, and i highly doubt this could be changed in near future xD
That reverse freefall element is quite impresssive! I wonder how they pulled it off without sacrificing safety and make the train able to engage/disengage the chain while hanging on it.
Karnan deserved this spotlight! Gerstlauer's thrill coasters very often have unusual elements, and Kärnan took this creative approach to new heights. Will ride the beast later this month. I really wonder if I will rate it as high as many other enthusiasts do, as Gerstlauer hasn't overwhelmed me yet. The ride surely looks very intense, and I hope it won't be too discomfortable. Fingers crossed for now!
I really liked how you did the spoiler alert near the end of the video. One ride I would like to see as one of these videos is Boss at Six Flags STL. It is a fun and intense wooden coaster, and sitting in the front makes it feel butter smooth. The back is a bit rougher, but it provides the intensity. Can't wait for the next video!
What is: Der Schwur des Kärnan? My #1 hyper coaster, that's what it is! That first drop is ridiculous, the intensity never lets up, and the indoor sections still caught me off guard even though I knew they were coming! To answer your question, yes, I absolutely think Gerstlauer should build more hyper coasters!
I love the American Pronouncing of „Der Schwur des Kärnan“ They try there best ^^ Cool Video:D I‘m so excited for next week when I can finally drive to the Hansa Park
Nice Video :) and Kärnan is by the way one of my most ridden Coasters :) actually i was over 1800 times on Kärnan :D love it to life 5 Minutes away from Hansa Park
was finaly able to ride Gold Rush at Slagharen today, thats an infinty as well, and im not in when they make hyper coasters. compact forcefull coasters is what they should made. I liked Gold Rush because its so much fun and is really smooth, but the train has a rattle. Its bumbing lichtly on the track and if you add that to a hyper it would be a bit rough. good video as allways
Kärnan is a forcefull compact ride. It is spread out, but definitly one of the most intense in europe while not being that much spread out (weird explanation...). I think more Gerstlauer than Karnan is nearly impossible :D But Gold Rush also was pretty good!
The upcoming Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm is a Gerstlauer dive coaster. Can a Gerstlauer coaster coming to Heide Park in 2020 be a hybrid of a dive coaster and a hypercoaster?
I went today, the drop was incredible on the first row but unfortunately in 2023 the rattle has become quite bad, almost got a headache on it, still my 2nd best coaster of all time
I've never ridden this coaster but from the looks of I personally think it'd be much cooler if that serpent roll were inverting, as it would likely offer incredible hang-time.
@@coasterbot And usally Hypercoasters dont do inversion...Kärnan is the only Hypercoaster who has an inversion...but that one is Spoiler Alert behind that brake run. which also is kinda unusal... Anyways i love the ejector airtime the non-inverting sea serpent roll (the so called "Heart-Element") provides, its even better than hang time xD
I'm not entirely sure. Trains would be loaded and unloaded while the reverse free-fall drop is in use. This shouldn't affect the throughput too much :)
DO 01 to be fair, my friend is really interested in how coasters work but doesn't actually like riding them so even if Harry didn't like coasters it wouldn't be that weird

I knew that gerstlauer coasters dont directly hook up to the chain, kind of like the intamin vertical lifts (e.g. Fahrenheit), I was more interested to see if they used any sort of LSM on the lift hill, thanks for the information though!
Careful, this comment may contain spoilers if you haven't ridden this ride. I'm really intrigued by how that reverse freefall drop works, how is the ride protected against unintentional rollbacks, they can't really use a conventional rollback stop from a lift hill. Can you find out more?
Gerstlauer Infinity coasters don't feature the standard ARBs. The lift hill features magnetic fins, which if the chain stops, the train can be descended down the hill slowly using the brake fins. The reverse freefall would utilise this brake fins, as well as a holding break, to: stop, fall backwards, brake, and begin to ascend once again.
Yes but magnetic fins can only slow down the train and not stop it completly. How is it stopped on the lifthill? The brakes would have to hold 20-30 tons in movement.
Shambala is 78 meters high and is after Red Force the second highest Coaster in Europe. Kärnan and Silver Star are the 3 highest Coaster in Europe with 73 meters.
I love how in Europe coasters have a whole story to go with them but in America, most of the coasters don't even have theming.
RIP America
America has more good coasters but Europe has better theming
the are still some greatly themed coasters in the USA, Velocicoaster for example, or most rides in Disney World, but basically, yes many coasters in the USA dont have theming
This ride looks like a boss!
It really does! :)
5MadMovieMakers it’s at my home park and it is the boss! I’m my opinion it’s better then fury 325
Coaster Bot you forgot that Karnan is calculated by rcstengel. It is one of the most intense coasters on earth. www.rcstengel.com/
Yep, its crazy intense, Sometimes the trains really "bend" my body at one S-curve. It is really intense but not uncomfortable at all.
The first time I stood in front of Kärnan I didn´t know all the crazy facts about the intensity and the uniqueness. I was only thinking this is going to be a good ride. make a "what is Vliegende Hollander" there is so much going on in there.

I've been on it more than twenty times - From when it was open for just a month, and back in september this year.
That's awesome to hear! :)
I knew pretty much nothing about Karnan before this, looks like a really interesting ride.
It really does! I'm glad you've learnt something. :)
Beautiful video. Love it

I could watch ur explanations for hours, no joke.
A very nice voice and its educational, too.

there is backwards free fall before riding down the tower

I do hope to cover some Gardaland attractions, mainly Oblivion: The Black Hole, in future videos :)
Yay! New "What Is"

This is by far the best Gerstlauer infinity coaster built to date :) No arguing that

Doesn't Hyperion have a snake dive and is like 255 feet or so though?
It's a non-inverting dive loop :)
I am still wondering how that reverse freefall works. Can someone tell me?
my guess is that the chain detaches while the train is stopped, and then brakes below kick in to slow the train down

I thought the tallest one in Europe was shambala at portaventura
Shambala is 78 meters high and is after Red Force the second highest Coaster in Europe. Kärnan and Silver Star are the 3 highest Coaster in Europe with 73 meters.
