I'm trying hopeless rescue and am stuck at the summit because it's too cold to sleep but I'm too tired to climb back down, so thanks, this helped a lot!
Took me 3 trips to loot most of the gear on the medium loot setting. My first couple dozen playthroughs all used the interloper loot setting, but in a game who's driving force is based entirely around loot, the medium setting really is so much more fun.
This helped get me and my fat load of junk down the mountain in one trip. lol, thanks for the video. (Took me like 15 ish minutes irl to get back to mountaineers hut)
I wish that it would be possible to throw stuff down cliffs or send it down with a rope. Wouldnt had to go down that way so often. Its really good to know tho. Thank you for showing us the way.
Dear Zac, Thanks so much for this video that I just found. Twice now, when I billy-goated down, I ended up with a frightening and precipitous cliff to descend which took me ages to carefully work my way down. Both times I arrived at the bottom battered, bruised, tattered and sprained in every joint, lol, it was quite an experience - but I still had all my loot. I ended up just above Cave D with the Engine just below, on the Eastern side of the map, I continued then to Chasm Cave to recover and gloat over my loot. I did try to veer to the right the second time but obviously not enough. I will do a better job next time thanks to you - I love the idea of climbing down as any wise adventurer would do especially when a blizzard or fog could come upon us at any time. Regards to all.
PS Thanks also for an alternative way to billy-goat down and attach the "short-cut" rope up to the Eric's Falls area. On my first trip to the summit as soon as I arrived off the 1st Rope to the Dear Clearing I went straight across the map to attach a rope there for future trips. Avoiding the Bear, that was between myself and the Eric's Falls area, was very difficult because he walks so slowly and time is of the essence in general in case of storms etc. I made it but at a greater risk than your billy-goat route. Regards.
This is the exact video i was looking for, and i believe the only one that describes how to get down by billy goating! Just made it up and don't want to leave without the rifle and 50 bullets i found! Perfect solution:)
I decided to get some practice on this in the area leading from Milton to Mystery Lake because the ropes are somewhat short. The first time ever trying it I got to the bottom with just minor bruising and felt like an absolute badass lol. I'm going to do a couple more climbes down in a couple different areas, but if all goes well, I'm going to make TWM my bitch! Thanks Zak!
Have you ever explored and gotten trapped in a crevice? That has happened to me once (nearly twice). The second time I dropped everything I had and somehow made it out. It was like a two foot drop so not sure if it was a glitch. Wish you could jump in this game.
not gona lie brother... watching this reminds me of the time i had to sleep before the final rope down... i got super lucky the win kicked up but that rock saved my butt... managed to get some sleep there then continue on... and now knowing that its so damned easy to goat climb everything hurts my soul that i suffered so... XD
I dont have a specific tutorial for it, but go there in many video. One good example is this Hopeless Rescue video. Just skip forward to when I enter TWM and then you can see the entire route. ua-cam.com/video/m_X4BdeRu98/v-deo.html
Zak, this might be a bit of a long shot, but any chance now after the Broken Silence update in 2024 that this is still doable? Or can anyone still confirm that the update hasn't made it more difficult to go this way down the mountain? UPDATE: Nothing has changed, still works like a charm:)
I went down the mountain atleast i tried and i flied so far idk what happend i was all the way to crystal lake with like a quarter hp left and everything ruined -_-
Another goated guide. Just made it down the summit while doing Hopeless Rescue, thanks!
Thanks again, just got the Challenge Mastery achievement 😄. Just 70 more days in my survival game to get "Will to Live" and I 100% The Long Dark!!

Made it down to the cabin thanks to you but now I'm addicted to Oxcy from all the painkillers I took for the sprains.

Very thankful !
Thanks. Made it today with 3x sprains. Have given me inspiration for travelling much more, because of this extra freedom.
I didn't know Obi Wan had a UA-cam channel
I wonder if you mean old Ben Kenobi? 🤔
I was on my way to comment about this 😂

Thank you! I couldn't find anything on how to climb down from Wolf's Jaw Overlook. This helps alot.
This is the game Clevland Brown spoke of, you don't win, you just get a little better each time.

Yes, it has happened. If so, it is best to exit and load back in. If it saves, it is possible to email Hinterland and they will unstuck you.
@@Zaknafein - thank you! It was frustrating. Really enjoy your videos!
