    Thank you Father Peter. I lost my wife a few months ago after 30 years of marriage. She was in the hospital for a month and decided she wanted to convert to Eastern Orthodoxy after realizing the many heresies of the Catholic church. Though we did get married in a Greek Orthodox church. While she was in the hospital she read the book " wounded by love" by Saint Porphyrios and said that was the most beautiful, convincing book she ever read and wanted to convert. Unfortunately she died of heart failure before she left the hospital. I'm all alone and read the Saints. Maximus the Confessor, Paisios, Joseph the heasychst, Ephrem of Arizona and the desert fathers. Nevertheless I'm fighting my own addiction and depression of missing my wife. I appreciate your advice on the Jesus prayer. If possible l really need your prayers Father Peter. God love you.

    Father Peter Heers, God bless your wisdom. I like your parallel about being inspired by a saint. I used to run marathons in the past and when I started my first race I didn't know how hard it was going to be, it was raining that day too. But I crossed the line walking, with a lot of pain&joy. It is important to run with heart and you will love to run. Run without a watch, but keep track of time and distance. An athlete runs first because he has a passion for running, then because he wants to improve his time and yes he trains inspired by great athletes. Now, change the word ”run” with ”pray” and ”time” with ”life and relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and His presence in Christian's life”. Now, start running after Lord Jesus Christ, run before Him and when you're tired try to run one more lap, one more mile, and the joy in rest will be even greater. God bless this day and all the days to come.☦📈☦ God bless all my friends (..), and God bless you who read.

      Just like biblical and historical evidence proves that jesus and his apostles were vegatarians biblical and historical evidence also proves that the trinity, atonement, original sin and hell are very late misinterpretations and are not supported by the early creed hence its not a part of Christianity I pray that Allah swt revives Christianity both inside and out preserves and protects it and makes its massage be witnessed by all people but at the right moment, place and time
      The secred text of the Bible says ye shall know them by their fruits

    Thank you Father Peter! I have been drawn to you over the last few months, and love your videos. Thank you so much for reaching out to us through this media!
    When I was young, around 13, I was able to visit Saint Anthony's Monastery in Arizona through our Church in California (St Nicholas). It was an absolutely beautiful place and experience. This was in the mid 1990's when it was first built. As an adult I have struggled with being persuaded and hoaxed into false ideas. However, the last two/three years since my grandmother has passed, I have felt this incredible deep calling to go back and re-learn to speak Greek and read the scriptures. Your words have helped me connect some missing pieces and feel aligned in my spirit. I hope to visit this monastery again and ask Jesus to forgive me as a sinner this day and every day forth.
    I also remember one point asking my elder from Church (something that must have obviously not been that important), and him urging me to please refrain until later as we need to keep quiet on the grounds during this time. Immediately the Abbot appeared in front of us, and it was a perfect moment.

      This is real wisdom right here. I'm just 18 but currently working and people at my work are so down to the Earth, its passions. Sex, money, letting your emotions get over you... I fall for it but I need to have the wisdom to step back from it and to just be a spectator of it. Wisdom and Patience are what's getting you closer to God. I always believe in Jesus, everyday, but do I follow him everyday ? No. But this has to change, as the Lord Himself said: John 15:19 "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."

    Father what is the difference between Coptic Orthodox and Greek Orthodox?

    • @orthodoxtruth1999
      @orthodoxtruth1999 2 роки тому +8

      The difference goes all the way back to the Council of Chalcedon. The Greek Orthodox(to which I belong to), upheld the council and the belief that Christ has two natures, both divine and human. The Copts reject this, and instead believe in a one nature (Monophysite) Christology. I hope this answer helps 🙏🙏 ☦️

    • @peepoclown1
      @peepoclown1 2 роки тому +3

      It should also be noted that, although we recognize their christology as monophysite, they’ll reject this, calling themselves “miaphysites” instead. It’s true that their [the Copts’, and all Oriental Orthodox’] understanding of christology differs from that of Eutyches; notwithstanding, we identify them as monophysites, as that’s truly what they are (albeit, a peculiar strain thereof).

      @sambeshalom879 2 роки тому +1

      We believe in the two natures unified into one nature without mingling, mixing, confusion, alteration, or transmutation.
      “Thus, neither did the Divine nature transmute to the human nature, nor did the human nature, transmute to the Divine nature. The Divine nature did not mix with the human nature nor mingle with it, but it was a unity that led to Oneness of Nature.”

    • @LadyMaria
      @LadyMaria 2 роки тому +1

      Along with Miaphysitism vs. Dyophysitism, all Orthodox Christians cross right to left. Orientals cross themselves like Roman Catholics from left to right. That is a big issue too. The Armenians use unleavened bread. Ethiopians practice circumcision, believe in the immaculate conception, etc. The Oriental communion varies on key things whereas in Orthodoxy (Orthodox Church) we do not.

    As a catechumen I sometimes doubt my belief in Jesus and I also find myself not connecting to the meaning of the Jesus prayer. I come from a Muslim background so I often think thay I should pray to God instead of Jesus. And because I haven't yet entered into the Christian faith, I do not have an anchor to keep my faith in Christ. Do you reccomend that I pray despite my lack of belief? But then I am afraid of making a habit of praying without heart. My preist has said to me that he cannot answer that question as it would be too complicated for him to answer...

      There are different versions of it. Some love the son of the living God portion but for some that doesn’t roll off the tongue as easily. Some use the Greek that Elder Ephraim used Kirie Isou Kriste Elesion Me. There are UA-cam videos of Elder Ephraim repeating the prayer. Also recommend reading ‘My Elder Joseph’ by Elder Ephraim. The Jesus prayer is front and central and also recommend visiting one of Elder Ephraim’s Monasteries to see them in action developing the prayer so that it can travel from the mouth to the mind and eventually settling into the heart. You will notice the novices saying the prayer out loud as this is necessary to imprint it in the mind before it can descend to the heart. You will also notice the older monks don’t say it aloud anymore as it has been imprinted in the heart. As Fr. Peter said, the Spiritual Guide is important here. Even better if the guide is experienced. Beware of delusion as well. This is why a Spiritual Father is important in this process and generally not something you should embark on by yourself.

And by becoming conscious of Him throught the day we can become grateful for that, and actually get inspired to be virtuous and to keep a healthy spiritual life. Otherwise, we become even more prone to fall into pride and ignorance. And we all know how that truly ends... It's better to change while we still have time
