Oatmeal Carmelita Toffee Bars

    1 1/2 cups salted butter 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla1 1/2 teaspoons salt1 teaspoon baking soda2 cups all-purpose flour2 cups old fashioned oats1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips 1 cup toffee bits 12 ounces caramel kraft bits4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
    1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease a 9x13 pan with cooking spray.
    2. In a large bowl, combine together butter, sugar, vanilla, salt, baking soda, flour and oats, mixing until combined.
    3. Press half the dough onto the bottom of the pan. Bake for 8 minutes.
    4. While bars bake, melt caramel and cream together in the microwave. Cook in 30 second increments, stirring in between until mixed and melted.
    5. Top the warm bottom layer of the bars with both chocolate chips and toffee bits, followed by warm caramel sauce.
    6. Place dollops of remaining dough on top, don’t worry about it spreading evenly over the top. Bake an additional 16-18 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with flaked salt.
    7. I prefer to make these hours or up to a day in advance so that they can completely set up before cutting.
