For anyone interested, I have made an Imbolc playlist that I'm going to be adding to over the next few weeks, you can listen via the link : open.spotify.com/playlist/4TS0zWFDakN0xvVje9jMj9?si=56118959f88d4b3f
I’m a Slavic practitioner and it’s a time of Veles god here :) we celebrate the time of darkness, magic and bringing the sacred fire to home. Greetings from Poland! ❤
How exciting 😊 I started doing rituals about ten year’s ago and I’ll never forget my first. I probably spent a week setting up and almost as long to put everything back in it’s place 😹 I wouldn’t recommend haha. I still feel like I have a lot of items I’m called to when setting up alters, but I’ve calmed down quite a bit. I also do rituals for every full moon and most new moons. You’re lucky you’ve found a good source towards the beginning of your journey down this path. I used to read dozens of books then spend two days trying to incorporate everything into my rituals 😬 Welcome to the family ❤️
This is my first Imbolc and your video was the most comprehensive video on Imbolc out there and I appreciate all the time and effort you've put into this to help us newer folk celebrate this sabbath. Thank you!
As a new slavic practitioner I was researching the topic of Imbolc very closely and didn't feel any connection to all the describtions of this day, so I decided to google it in my native language and see what comes up and I saw the holiday on the exact same day that slavic people celebrate and honestly that is when I felt the most connection. It is really wonderful! In my country it is a celebration of first signs of Spring, plus honoring the god of thunder - Perun and goddess of winter - Morena. It is believe that Perun brings thunder on this day to help the goddess of Spring to remember that her time is soon. (There are of course several different interpretations :) ). We also make special candles on this day that are then cherished through the whole year as a protective and celebrative tool. :)
i had no idea there was a Goddess of winter. I've always loved winter, but lately it's been hard to get the connection back, with my Seasonal Affective Disorder(winter blues) and my BPD and MDD. It gets me so depressed in the winter months and maybe learning about the season in this way will bring that back. I really do hate being this way, of course sometimes I just can't control it, but I wish it could go away sometimes so I can go out in the snow and just sit in it. Especially since it hasn't been too terribly cold this current snow storm, my dad says its warm enough it'll turn to rain soon, so it's most likely I could try to sit in it and not to cold!!!
@@sophiedarnell467 Oh, don't feel bad for not having energy to practice too much in some seasons, it's totally fine! Winter is kinda for rest and gathering your resources and giving yourself an opportunity to just take care of yourself. I'm pretty sure there are goddesses of winter in a lot of cultures, Morena is associated with Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, so is Perun - the god of thunder. So just try to research about other winter goddesses and find the one that helps you understand that it is fine to not be fine during such a cold and dark season. But i do recommend trying to celebrate Imbolc/Gromnica (russian equivalent), because it represents spring coming back soon and you might feel better doing any activities that you have mental capacity for.
Alena, Velonia is the Feminine counterpart to Veles... She is the Goddess of The Slavic Underworld ( Nav) Would Velonia also be associated with ❄️ as well ?
I took the 2nd off of work so I can enjoy Imbolc to myself! I plan on doing housekeeping, making food, walking on my treadmill, visiting my back garden, and laying out food for the birds and squirrels. Thank you for inspiring me, Hearth!
One of the phrases that really stands out to me in reviewing the Imbolc sections in books is "it's about the light, not warmth" and being in a very frigid area, it really hits home! I'll be bundling up in my snow pants and going on a short walk to really get in touch with my local land. Happy Imbolc!
Cleaned my entire apartment physically, currently making a paper Brigid cross that I'm gonna place above my front door, I made sun water, got some flowers and candles for my altar, cleansed energetically, gonna plant some flowers, had a walk with my dog in the nearby forest and I'll have a nice warm candelit bath in the evening. For my very first Sabbat, I'd say, not bad :D I love being a (baby) witch
There are many kitchen herbs 🌿 that can be started off indoors as seeds (a good activity for those in the broom closet). As you sow the seeds plant 🌱 your intentions with them & watch both grow in the coming months
I LOVe how you suggest a wide variety of activities. You make the celebration so inclusive, so that a solitary underground practitioner gets excellent ideas and so does the out-and-about witch with a whole crew.
I started the new year with a flooded apartment, having to move, and my boyfriend broke up with me so we each found our own new places. So I’m in a new city, new apartment, newly single, I feel like this new year is a whole definition of new chapter
Good for you. That's the way I choose to see Imbolc and January/February in particular. Most are bemoaning these months but they are missing the beauty and new beginnings instead focussing on the seemingly barren landscape and cold weather. Imbolc in particular has become a sabbat I really revere and look forward to. Wishing you abundant Imbolc blessings for your new and exciting beginnings.
I just set up my alter for Imbolc. Yesterday I made a long list of everything I’m going to do, which is most of what you described. I’m getting to make my Brigid doll from instructions given by Alwyn Oak also on UA-cam. I can’t quite figure out how to do the Brigid cross so will wait for someone to show me. Happy Imbolc feast!
Thanks for the great tips! 🌝 In my culture, we have a harvest festival called Sankranti (also called Pongal/Uttarayan/Magha/Bhogi etc.) that takes place mid January. And after I celebrate that, celebrating Imbolc feels like such a great continuation of the changing season. I love combining my Hindu festivities with Wiccan festivities. They have so many similarities. 🙂
I am fairly new to the practise (coming close to two years now) and never celebrated any of the Festivals so far. I decided to start celebrating them starting with Imbolc as I’m very attracted by the fire aspect of it 🔥 I’m planning to set my humble altar space with some elements like a woman shaped vase, many candles, amethyst and citrine, and also I will light up Myrrh incense and start meditation FINALLY 😅 Then tomorrow, if I feel brave enough, I might join a Pagan gathering here in London
I will bake a Brigid bread tomorrow and make a mushroom ragout. Also I’ll set up an altar for the first time in years. So looking forward to it! Happy Imbolc everyone 😊
Hearth...you are an absolute treasure !!! The reel at the end literally had me rolling on the floor with laughter 😂😂 I needed a laugh today, so thank you for lifiting my mood. Besides doing AMAZING teaching videos, you are so entertaining. Thank you for all you do 😊✨
First Sabbat I actually have the energy to celebrate in a new home! Going to do a whole house cleanse, and light a fire in the fireplace in the evening.
I will work on release via burning and throwing to the wind at a crossroads. I love the fire element and candle magick! 🔥 Thank you, Hearth for all these recommendations! XX 💙
Thank you so much! I love the idea of standing in the open and working with the wind 🙏 I see this as a brilliant way of ridding negative energy or thoughts and I will definitely be giving it a try! Such a lot of ideas for celebrating my first Imbolc in a few weeks time. I will have to listen again and make notes. Blessings to you and yours 💫🧚♂️🧙🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🕊️💚🙏
Sorry to be so over-fashionably late, lol! I looked to see if you had something about Imbolc and I'm really pleased to find this one from a year ago. Tbh, I never really resonated with Imbolc and I don't even like the word very much; I still call it Candlemass which, although it's Christian and I'm not, I think it's such a pretty name and fits with the light coming back to the world with the lengthening days. Anyway, your suggestions have really opened up new possibilities for me. I very much feel the need to spring clean this year, which I haven't done for a while due to a long-term disability that comes and goes. I finish off by sprinkling salt and water in the corners and cut a piece of Rosemary from my tiny garden to hang above the front door. Something else I do seasonally is decorate a small wreath on my kitchen wall, which I change according to the seasons. For January this year I added a circular garland of ivy with some fake snowdrops poking through and a string of tiny star lights. I really enjpy your videos, Hearth. I don't often comment but am gradually trawling through them all since subscribing. Great stuff! :) ✨✨✨
This is my first Sabbat, and I'm trying to keep it low-key to make my practice more sustainable in my schedule. I'm planning on making some garlic and rosemary focaccia, eating lots of cheese, and maybe making a dish with roasted carrots and other root veggies. I also made some cleaning vinegar infused with rosemary, lavender and orange that I have written my intentions on to clean my floors with on Imbolc. I also want to set space to meditate, do some I Ching divination, and do some goal-setting. One of my goals is to do something for each of the Sabbats this year, starting with Imbolc, even if it's small. Your channel has been so helpful during my witchy journey! Thank you, Hearth
It just so happens that I'm moving out of my apt with negative people there to a new one without them at the end of the month! I feel like that in itself is a really good thing for celebrating imbolc which is funny. Hopefully I'll be able to keep track of my witchy stuff in the move so I can do an alter set up 😁😁
Hello, we took a day to go to the coast. We shopped for rocks and crystals, we eat lunch near the water and after stood near the water with the strong winds refreshing us. We did last year and felt it was a very good thing. Now we can have a good celebration around the fire pit, have a meal, make butter in a jar and maybe corn dollys. Thank you for your great videos! You are a treasure❤
This will be my first Imbolc....my daughter will be home due to teacher strikes so we're going to make some bird food treats to hang in our tree and, weather depending, might go for a little walk or try and get the garden tidy.
love imbolc!! it's one of my favorite of the sabbats. i don't work with brigid since i work with the norse pantheon, so i honor skadi (a goddess associated with winter), sif (a goddess of fertility and grain), and freyr (a god of fertility and the land)
I used to collect corn dolls when I was younger, I didn't know what they were but family members would bring me them back from holidays etc and I adored them. So many little witchy things that I did and loved that were staring me in the face and I never even realised until I looked back as an adult witch.
In every video I love your styling and makeup. The earrings are so beautiful. Thank you for this video. I usually have a hard time celebrating Imbolc because my energy levels are very low during winter but I always try to embrace this Sabbath through food and a walk in nature. Music helps a lot too. This year I want to also try cleaning my space and do extra offerings to the deities I work with but we'll see how that will go.
Thank you so much for posting this video. You broke everything down so well. I plan on setting up my altar tomorrow and doing some tarot. Thank you for the inspiration.
I've just moved very far away from Wisconsin to Washington (moved over 1700 miles) in the middle of December. I still have yet to meet the spirits around here. I live in the mountains now which is very different from the marshes and woods of Wisconsin, there is also Native American sites here. So I might just take some time over Imbolc to try and explore a little bit and see who I meet.
I am definitely planting some crocus next year I have some and I hope more of them come back but it is amazing to see these little flowers come out when the snow starts melting.
I hope for good enough weather to clear out the dead in my garden and make way for life. I have a picture of the sun and my Gaia figure with colour correspondence candles I plan to put on part of my altar. I use Gaia for her life giving representation similar to Brigid as I haven't researched much into many dieties yet. Have a lovely Imbolc, thank you for a great video!
I’ve never celebrated this holiday very much but I am going to decorate my altar. I’m currently working on some crafts to use as decor for it. My mom got me a lovely orchid plant the other day to add to this which will make a nice touch :) one thing I always do is wear appropriate jewelry colors and stones, especially if I don’t have any clothes that feel right for the day, and I’ll do my nails to match as well. And, if the weather is nice, I’ll take a walk around a nearby lake with a friend that evening as the sun sets. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Thanks Hearth, you are my shining beacon of hope during this dark time of winter (and all the other BS that I’m going through), thank you so very much, love you 😍
I guess I subconsciously started celebrating Imbolc. I've started taking my dog on daily morning walks for many different reasons. For his and my own health, to wake myself up(I am not a morning person), to reconnect with nature, etc. We cross a sort of bridge thing where the road crosses over a man-made ravine to redistribute rain water. Whether there's running water or it's dry, we always stop to just be next to it. I suppose, similar to wells, man-made ravines probably have spirits connected to them too. Even with all that concrete.
This is the first year I will be working with Brigid for Imbolc. She came to me through a meditation a couple months back so I've spent this winter learning about her. I'm curious to know what it is she has in store for me for the upcoming year. She isn't my matron, but I'm listening for what she has to say. Blessed Imbolc to you and thank you for this video. There was a lot of information here.
Just came across your channel, and subscribed! Love the informative background on each Sabbat told in easy language...thank you. I like to write on the back of sage leaves my wishes for each household that needs a bit of extra protection in the family and always end with one for the world. I burn them on my altar in a small cauldron, then scatter the ashes on the earth outside. A small gesture but it makes me feel calm! Glad I found your channel. Blessings. Xxx
I'll be bringing in the corn dollies I hung outside at Mabon. I put out 3 and looks like 2 survived winter so they'll get some outfits and gratitude... then probably warmed by bonfire 🔥💜✨
It's interesting that some of the life changes we're doing currently in my families life is happening around Imbolc. Or at least, making preparations for these life changes that will be coming up before the Spring Equinox. Wonderful time for this video since I want to celebrate Imbolc but don't really know how to aside from making a feast, incense burn and a season based tarot read.
LOLOL, that bit at the end! Thanks for adding that, it was entertaining and shows up you're human, kinda like the rest of us, lol. Btw, it's f*@$ing January! LMFAO! Gonna go check out the playlist over on Spotify, see ya soon!
I use a fire pit 🔥 for the Celtic fire festivals & it works really well.... kind of like a huge witchy cauldron Fire 😊 I’m a solitary witch so do this in my back garden.
Thank you. I am grateful to you for enhancing my practice! Have followed you for years now. Most excellent knowledge and teaching ways to apply it in life and practice. Positive and uplifting!
Also to me and mine it was Candlemass as it was a time of lambing and a dark time and candles were running out and we needed to light the darkness it’s darkest befor the dawn (light)
I connect mainly with the purification aspect of this sabbat, so I'm going to cleanse the home and donate some Books I don't like anymore. i'm also going to meditate to clear the mind e do a divination Reading. Lastly i would like to do the spell you mentioned with incence burning on a petition paper. Thank you for the suggestion ✨
I live on the Canadian prairies so Imbolc is not a spring festival for me. It can be as cold as -40C at this time of year so no outdoor or opening of windows here. I celebrate it as marking the middle of winter and the increasing light.
Thank you for all of your knowledge !! I find it so helpful through my journey!! Can I just tell you that your makeup 💄 and that outfit girl your looking on point and put together!! Maryland 🇺🇸!! Don’t worry about your eye just be you and I hen just edit because you are so filled with so much information!
i'd love to see a witchy youtuber tackle being a witch in university, being in uni accom and student housing means no candles or flames and no incense and it also can mean that you can't make much noise so a lot of cleansings and spells are unavailable, i'm in a second year and honestly a lot of my practise has been on pause because of this. so if anyone had advice in general or make a video on it that would be awesome as putting my practise on a backburner due to uni has been quite sad ngl :/
If one really connects with Hellenic deities or Roman, they could offer a bowl of salt or salt water to Hestia or Vesta, aswell as lighting a white, purple (as in the colour of the third eye) or red (as fire) candle 😊
Thankyou for the information. You gave me a lot of great ideas. Your channel is very helpful. 💜😇. Keep up the good work 😇💜👍hello from Las Vegas Nv. I will probably do the cleansing thing with the windows open and incense burning. With Faye music 😇💜. Stay well 😇💜
I love imbolc. It's one of my favourite Sabbaths, because I hate the dark and cold season. The reminder that this time is coming to an end helps me to go an. I always light a candle and than I go from room to room and light all my lamps and candles to greet the awakening sun. What I also do is make candles I use in rituals during the year. Totally out of topic, but I love your style. I'm pale, too and am still searching for a foundation that works for me. Which one do you use? Or is your skin naturally flawless?
I very much enjoyed your content! And I noticed you were winding down, yet there was clearly several additional minutes left. Hmmm… Your outtakes are HILARIOUS! Thank you sharing those with us, in addition to your scripted content. 😂
love some of your videos I am having a time trying to get a part time job I tried getting a job at Royal farms store night shift about 2 miles away and they wouldn't hire me I'm so disappointed with this, I was hoping this year was going to be a better one for me and so far its not, my hubby has gone behind my back and contacted our bge and now its doubled and I want to get my upper teeth taken care of before its to late. My parents are dead and I am not married to my husband this year would had made 37 yrs of marriage but I gave him a divorce in 2020, now with that said I live upstairs he lives downstairs we share the house we raised our kids in, we have lived here since 1996, so I was hoping to start a new job, but once again ignorance won and I didn't get the job.
It’s funny that this video pops up as I forgot Imbolc was approaching and was wondering why my rabbits were shedding like crazy lol. They always molt right around Valentine’s Day and also around the start of fall.
Hi, this is going to be my first imbolc and I have a question… if I want to give Brigid a glass of milk as an offering, then what do I do with it? Thank you very much love your channel❤️
I know it may seem a little strange, but after an offering, you just decide what the best way to "dispose" of it will be, and how long you feel you should wait before you do it. . Back to the earth, to the creatures, repurposed, consumed by you, or simply thrown out.
For anyone interested, I have made an Imbolc playlist that I'm going to be adding to over the next few weeks, you can listen via the link : open.spotify.com/playlist/4TS0zWFDakN0xvVje9jMj9?si=56118959f88d4b3f

Hi, I'm from Poland too, but I didn't even know it was traditionally time to celebrate darkness and time of Veles, huh. Greetings!
Is Koliada a Slavic equivalent of Bridget?
Have you heard of Velonia ,who is the Goddess of Nav ?
I’m setting up my Imbolc altar with a Brigid doll and card, sheep, sun art piece, a candle and crystals. It’s my first Imbolc as a witch.

Pipe cleaners are also a great idea for creating a Brigid’s cross. Real easy to manipulate them how you need to!

O, I’ll also be planting my garlic in the garden and violets and yellow primula’s on my balcony. So happy to have a place to grow things!!

love imbolc!! it's one of my favorite of the sabbats. i don't work with brigid since i work with the norse pantheon, so i honor skadi (a goddess associated with winter), sif (a goddess of fertility and grain), and freyr (a god of fertility and the land)
I used to collect corn dolls when I was younger, I didn't know what they were but family members would bring me them back from holidays etc and I adored them. So many little witchy things that I did and loved that were staring me in the face and I never even realised until I looked back as an adult witch.
You ate you amazing! Your voice & words speaks to my soul. I’ve truly learned so much from you! Thank you for all you do!!!❤
In every video I love your styling and makeup.
Thanks
I am definitely planting some crocus next year I have some and I hope more of them come back but it is amazing to see these little flowers come out when the snow starts melting.
Thank you very much; this was very inspirational.
always helpful videos, and a good voice when you were humming in the end
Omg I'm early!! Love you and those fabulous earrings 😍
Yo I came back to this channel cuz I know you made a video about this in the past. Happy you remade a new video and you look pretty
This is my first time to hear about Imbolc. It's interesting to hear all the different ways you can celebrate Imbolc. Very interesting, as always.
Hearth I know these are informative vids, but your blooper reels are honestly my favorite part
Hearth, I love your altar. The table itself, is beautifully carved. Thank you for this extremely helpful and educational video.
Thanks Hearth, you are my shining beacon of hope during this dark time of winter (and all the other BS that I’m going through), thank you so very much, love you 😍
Thank you so much for this video! I Learned quite a lot in this video. Looking forward to more 🤙🏽🔥
Just ordered some bird food. Such a good idea. Happy Imbolc 💐
Thank you so very much for these informative videos. You gave me some good ideas, and also clarified what the special is all about.
Hi... You're beautifully prepared and thank you!!!
Blessings. Xxx
Hey, happy new year, everyone! Here's hoping it's better than "twenty twenty, too" was...!
This was very inspriring to watch! I will definitely setting up my space and cooking with my family! I will also be donating and working with animals.
Thank you, Hearth!
I’m waiting on Ostara, I love rabbits but still curious for more.
Love this! I work with and worship Aphrodite and I’m very excited to make her an altar for imbolc!
Also going to make so much food! Im excited to try out some new recipes
I am glad you went with the dangles earrings. I like them. I will do an altar. First time subscriber. So enjoyed you, thank you.
Another excellent video! Thanks!
I love your extras after the video. My goal is to find a sacred well in Georgia (USA) before Imbolc.
LOLOL, that bit at the end! Thanks for adding that, it was entertaining and shows up you're human, kinda like the rest of us, lol. Btw, it's f*@$ing January! LMFAO! Gonna go check out the playlist over on Spotify, see ya soon!
I'm thinking this year, being my 3rd as a practicing pagan, I'd like to have a proper fire for the Sabbaths
Depending on my work schedule, I plan on spending the day outside, unplugged and with my kids
You are the best. Thank you ❤ happy Imbolc
Great video. My birthday is near Imbolc, so I've been thinking about ways to better connect with its traditions. The Brigid cross is fascinating.
My birthday is Feb 1, I have been thinking of how to make it even more special. Happy birthday!
I just added a 18”X18” black granit tile replacing the 12” x 12” Tile. The black stone from which to work.
I just learned of Imbolg a few hours ago. I had not heard of it!
Tysm for this video!
If one really connects with Hellenic deities or Roman, they could offer a bowl of salt or salt water to Hestia or Vesta, aswell as lighting a white, purple (as in the colour of the third eye) or red (as fire) candle 😊
My hearth sisters and I are doing a public ritual for Imbolc at a local pagan festival on the 4th.
(Those earrings are incredible)
I very much enjoyed your content! And I noticed you were winding down, yet there was clearly several additional minutes left. Hmmm…
Your outtakes are HILARIOUS! Thank you sharing those with us, in addition to your scripted content. 😂
simple way to celebrate the sabbath 🎉
Ooooooh. I need to do a mandle next year.
love some of your videos I am having a time trying to get a part time job I tried getting a job at Royal farms store night shift about 2 miles away and they wouldn't hire me I'm so disappointed with this, I was hoping this year was going to be a better one for me and so far its not, my hubby has gone behind my back and contacted our bge and now its doubled and I want to get my upper teeth taken care of before its to late. My parents are dead and I am not married to my husband this year would had made 37 yrs of marriage but I gave him a divorce in 2020, now with that said I live upstairs he lives downstairs we share the house we raised our kids in, we have lived here since 1996, so I was hoping to start a new job, but once again ignorance won and I didn't get the job.
i like your vibe, girl
It’s funny that this video pops up as I forgot Imbolc was approaching and was wondering why my rabbits were shedding like crazy lol. They always molt right around Valentine’s Day and also around the start of fall.
They are now offended that I’ve brushed them. How dare I imply they are poorly groomed!!!!!
❤ thank you as always so many great ideas for everyone even old crones like myself.
Love those earrings.
thank you hearth so knowledgable
Love your videos. Thank you.
Hi, this is going to be my first imbolc and I have a question… if I want to give Brigid a glass of milk as an offering, then what do I do with it? Thank you very much love your channel❤️
I believe pouring some onto the earth is a way of offering.
I know it may seem a little strange, but after an offering, you just decide what the best way to "dispose" of it will be, and how long you feel you should wait before you do it. . Back to the earth, to the creatures, repurposed, consumed by you, or simply thrown out.
There's a comet passing on February 1st too :)
