  • Happy to present the Behringer POLY D, no speaking, no trace of reverb or any external FX, just what you want - the sound of the synth, and a run through of some of its standout features. And some prog-funk noodling. Cause it's a Moot video.
I'm glad you're here. Thank you for watching my video!

The "No Talking" format is perfect. Most of us here already know what we're listening for, and the rest will catch up fast. And excellent playing vs. noodling around.

The sound of farts is the most entertaining sound humans can make. But it's true that a lot of demos concentrate on the sound of the oscillators and filter sweeps out of musical context. End of the day, the sound of the synth _making music and in a mix_ is what matters and a lot of the nitpicking about saw waves and so on doesn't have much relevance at that point.

Man this video flew by. I cannot tell you how many gear demo videos I jump through trying to find watchable bits, but every minute of this vid is super enjoyable to listen to while also being really effectively demonstrative.
I'm sure you've been told countless times, I'm sure you know this for yourself already, and I'm dead sure that you've put in immeasurable time and effort to be this good, but man, you are good, not only with knowing your instrument, but with music in general, especially if this is your own stuff and/or off the cusp improv (I couldn't pick up on any melodies or chord progresisons I've heard before). Some stuff reminded me of Yellow Magic Orchestra (If anyone's reading this I recommend checking out their self titled album from 1978, or even any of their albums, AND Haruomi Hosono / Ryuichi Sakamoto's solo discographies).
But I digress: what I want to say, if you see this, is that I really hope you find the exact fulfillment that you're looking to get out of your musical endeavors.
It's 2AM and I'm typing a heartfelt paragraph to a UA-camr on a gear demo video. This is something I would probably never do.
Thanks for the video, I'm definitely subscribing!
Keep doing what you do. If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go buy a synth

I love mine. I bought it used from a guy who said 'This is the best sound I could get out of it' when I went to buy it. It took me a couple evenings to start to get comfortable with how it works.
I only wish I could save the patches I come up with, instead of having to take setting photos for stuff I want to remember.
This synth produces some of the thickest, fattest sounds I've ever recorded. I also have a waldorf stvc, a rev 3 prophet 5, a deepmind 12 and a bass station 2.

Have you ever listened to "Eyes of the World" by Rainbow? Don Airey delivers a crushing sequence at the intro. Peep it! And thanks for the response!

Love your playing and the sounds! It's so nice to hear a synth demo from someone that can actually play chords and proper music! I love the tone, I just wish they would go all out with a full 6-8 voice polyphonic Memorymoog killer now! They can keep the base sound, just make it fully polyphonic. Love that chorus!!

I can get many of these sounds with the Micron, but there is practically no live 'hands-on" control of individual tones, takes so much fun out of the original idea of synthesis-creating unique sounds and playing live, such as Joe Zawinul did with his ARP Odyssey and other analog machines, in real time. Takes much more musical/creative skill than just slathering out pre-programmed sounds with a few button presses. So glad this concept is being re-introduced to musicians who formerly could never afford the original's price-tags, and many of the new analog machines.

This thing sounds amazing. I have always heard not great things about Behringer products, however, it seems they nailed the synth market and I have heard nothing but good things about their synths. If the build quality is decent on this, I totally want it. I have an MS-20 and a Moog Sub Phatty. I dream of a MOOG Minimoog voyager but I don't have that kind of coin. I also was wanting to get the Korg Minilogue, but when I saw this, and it's versatility, I am thinking screw the Korg Minilogue I just need this.

    • @mikeexits
      @mikeexits 4 роки тому

Minilogue was my first synth, and it's honestly fantastic but it's harder to obtain a warm tone like Moog synths and the Behringer "clones." It's got its own character but that also means it lends itself to sounds other "warmer" synths can't quite make. And it's still analog! After owning a Volca Sample + FM + Modular, Korg Wavestation EX, Casio CZ-101, and Behringer Neutron, I still loooove my Minilogue. :) I've considered getting an xd ever since it came out, but I don't think I could bring myself to sell my OG Minilogue.
