      The sound of farts is the most entertaining sound humans can make. But it's true that a lot of demos concentrate on the sound of the oscillators and filter sweeps out of musical context. End of the day, the sound of the synth _making music and in a mix_ is what matters and a lot of the nitpicking about saw waves and so on doesn't have much relevance at that point.

    but i have to say , i flick through this video after watching a few chunks , and it does sound like a moog to my ears .. i think if i had a blind test id never guess that was a model D .. unlike their arp stuff which i think is easily identifyable .. still a great synth for money though im knocking that ..

      INTOLLERANZA thank you! I took advanced theory in college, and a year of jazz guitar, and a couple years of sax, and all my high school years I played trumpet in the marching band and drums in the jazz band, and that is literally all of the formal musical training I’ve had. My approach to all instruments is kinda unorthodox, which is both a blessing and a curse! Makes me sound unique but also limits what I can do because I don’t have “proper” playing technique. I just grew up around music (church music...I come from a religious family), lots of musical people in my family. I just soaked it all in like a sponge from day one I guess. I am toying with the idea of getting back into teaching, but via video.

    people who say VSTs are better than this... have never used analog...

    • @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen
      @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen 3 роки тому

      Брадесканх buddy I used serum and all that native instru junk before I discovered hardware. I could probably blow you out of the water with my old vst set up. But when I discovered hardware I found a new way of interpreting sound. It is as if the sound comes alive from a physical machine... something I have never gotten from a vst... and believe me I have tried a majority of them and spend a lot of 💸 add guitar pedals into the chain and your in alien territory

    • @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen
      @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen 3 роки тому

      Брадесканх umm... the jd xi is not analog? Lol and obselete? Most super stars you see today all have producers backing them with a plethora of analog gear. They just use the digital daw for the recording process and the digital fx etc.

    • @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen
      @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen 3 роки тому

      And don’t let producers fool you by watching videos of them making a beat on maschine. These crooks are masters of manipulation and keep there secrets close, like a 2 star Michelin chef

    • @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen
      @TheCanadianDreamEvergreen 3 роки тому

      Брадесканх I definitely have a better ear for sound than most. You can literally feel the circuits opening up, when opening the filters of an analog device. Pair that with quality studio headphones, and you will find yourself in new territory. I’m not saying all analog is great, I have used some lemons, though just like vsts I research what I am actually buying. For example I have yet to find a vst that can emulate what a Dave smith tempest can do... literally no where... or my Moog lil PHATTY... maybe another Moog? Those Moog emulations except for the one by Moog... are no where close to the sound you can sculpt with the hardware...

    Wow. This is an outstanding sounding synth given the price point. I recently acquired a Korg Prologue and MS20 Mini. Thinking about adding this one as it seems a bit different. I'm especially intrigued with the onboard sequencer.

    Say If this was the exact sound that came out in the 70s and we did a swap ie the original sound was the clone sound, wouldn't it be interesting to see the comments? Perhaps do a blindfold test?
    Either way it's a beautiful instrument (said the actress to the Bishop)

      There have been videos doing exactly that. Usually the only discernable difference was the old Moogs having out of tune oscilators (Pretty much all old synths do it as the caps get old and, so you really need to service the moogs every ten years to replace the old capacitors and retune the oscilators. The reissued moogs usually dont have this problem)

    Thank you for showing us what a skilled musician can do with a synthesizer. The Behringer Odyssey, unfortunately, showed me that I need analog modeling and presets now. My beginner hands still need to concentrate on "When the Saints ..." and other EZ Play music. The Minimoog sound, however, still sings like the sailor's siren call. Thanks again for doing a great job! Your presentation probably sold another one.

    This thing sounds amazing. I have always heard not great things about Behringer products, however, it seems they nailed the synth market and I have heard nothing but good things about their synths. If the build quality is decent on this, I totally want it. I have an MS-20 and a Moog Sub Phatty. I dream of a MOOG Minimoog voyager but I don't have that kind of coin. I also was wanting to get the Korg Minilogue, but when I saw this, and it's versatility, I am thinking screw the Korg Minilogue I just need this.

    • @mikeexits
      @mikeexits 4 роки тому

      Minilogue was my first synth, and it's honestly fantastic but it's harder to obtain a warm tone like Moog synths and the Behringer "clones." It's got its own character but that also means it lends itself to sounds other "warmer" synths can't quite make. And it's still analog! After owning a Volca Sample + FM + Modular, Korg Wavestation EX, Casio CZ-101, and Behringer Neutron, I still loooove my Minilogue. :) I've considered getting an xd ever since it came out, but I don't think I could bring myself to sell my OG Minilogue.

    Man this video flew by. I cannot tell you how many gear demo videos I jump through trying to find watchable bits, but every minute of this vid is super enjoyable to listen to while also being really effectively demonstrative.
    I'm sure you've been told countless times, I'm sure you know this for yourself already, and I'm dead sure that you've put in immeasurable time and effort to be this good, but man, you are good, not only with knowing your instrument, but with music in general, especially if this is your own stuff and/or off the cusp improv (I couldn't pick up on any melodies or chord progresisons I've heard before). Some stuff reminded me of Yellow Magic Orchestra (If anyone's reading this I recommend checking out their self titled album from 1978, or even any of their albums, AND Haruomi Hosono / Ryuichi Sakamoto's solo discographies).
    But I digress: what I want to say, if you see this, is that I really hope you find the exact fulfillment that you're looking to get out of your musical endeavors.
    It's 2AM and I'm typing a heartfelt paragraph to a UA-camr on a gear demo video. This is something I would probably never do.
    Thanks for the video, I'm definitely subscribing!
    Keep doing what you do. If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go buy a synth
