Man you got a really nice voice for videos, kept me interested throughout. :) Just got a couple of the siamese ones tonight, heard many good things about them. How did the Otocinclus work out for ya?
Hey there! Thanks for the compliment! In regards to the Otocinclus they were great but the don't do all the work. They prefer some types of algae, actually I think they like the bacterial film that grow on all surfaces (if I'm not mistaken) but I'll have to get back to you on that. That's why I have him with other algae eaters and I've since got a bunch of cherry shrimp in the tank. There is no best one, but they all work as a team to keep it in check. Hope this was useful and check out the other videos in "My Planted Aquarium Series". Let me know what you think and if there's a subject you would like to see.
Hey, Jesemanuael! Could you tell me what types of fish you have/had in your planted aquarium? I went back through your vids but couldn't find them listed. 1 Betta, ? Fancy Guppies, ? Neon Tetras, 1 SAE, 3 Oto cat Am I missing anything? I ask because this is pretty much the same composition I was looking at for a 35g hex tank I'm starting and it seems to be working quite well for you! Thanks!
Hello, and yes that is the amount I had at the time. They did a good job of keeping the algae in check while the plants took over. I'll be posting a new update video so you can see what I mean.
I taught i was buying two otosinclus but turns out they where siameses algea eaters... they are pretty nice and do a very good job so far, they ignore the pellets and eat algea like crazy! since they are in a goldfish aquarium with danios and other bottom dwellers (dojo loache, corys), im a bit afraid my water temperature isin't exacly as high as it would suppose to be (23°C). do you think they will be okay? I have 2 of them...
Sure I don't think you will have any problems. I live in Puerto Rico and the temperatures here are a bit crazy sometimes and they never seemed to be struggling. So no worries :)
thanks a lot :). it's only one or two degree lower then the ideal one, so it's not that bad... if I can get another aquarium, i will move them so they can have better parameter, but I guess they will be okay. they don't seem sick and they are very active, they eat algea none-stop, they are very nice :). a 26 gallon is big enought for both of them, right? I have a lot of little caves and I will add real plants soon... and i have very good filtration as well :). I just hope they don't grow to be huge fish, i taught i was buying otocinclus so yeah, it change things a little XD. but they are totally awsome, they don't bother my other fish and are overall active :)
Yeah, I got some more of them. The tank has changed a lot since this video, check out my most recent tank updates. I'm in plans on turning my 55 into a planted tank and I might transfer them to that tank.
Hi, those are Endler guppies. I believe they are considered a "wild" variety, they don't sell them in store here in PR. I found mine through a breeders who found them on the river close to his house
Hello, that's the co2 indicator. Depending on the co2 levels it turns blue, green or yellow. It's basically a pH reader, the pH levels change depending on the amount of co2 in the water... At least that's the conclusion I came to, you guys are welcome to correct me if I'm wrong.
Hi, sorry for not being specific in this video, these are some of my first videos. I'm out on a small trip and will be back Sunday. I can give you the specific lumens and Watts. Thanks for watching, I have more videos on the aquariums progress.
ok the lamps have 4 CFL spiral bulbs, 23w 5000k and 2000 lumens each. Just in case, CFL's are great for a diy setup, but I have since changed to an LED lamp because someone wanted to get me one as a gift, but they work great. I hope this was useful, be sure to check out the latest videos, I've need making a few changes. again thanks for watching
Cool. Thanks for the name. I was also thinking about getting siamese algae eaters but today my mollies started eating black algae off my rotala indica. A very pleasant surprise. Have u heard about this? I will check them for a day and then decide if i need to get siamese algae eaters.
Oh he was great! He never bothered anyone and I kept him with other peaceful fish as to prevent any fighting or nipping of the fins. Also the tank size helps, which is another topic I could tackle in a future video.
By the way thanks for watching, I have a lot more videos on the topic of planted aquariums, also some woodworking videos. Be sure to subscribe, I've been improving the quality of the videos as much as I can and would appreciate the feedback
Alex Maicu good observation, the local supplier didn't have a good selection. That's why I don't buy in big franchise stores anymore. Not all the staff is knowledgeable or care and the bulk selection of fish is not good.
Love your aquascape. Your video was really helpful to me as I am researching the best algae eaters in preparation for my new tank
Great video! I love oto’s. I subbed 😁
Maybe you’d like to checkout my channel 😉

Otos and SAEs are shoaling fish so you should have at least a minimum of 6!!!
Yes I totally agree, I've since studied more about this species and found this to be the case. I now don't keep them in less than 8-10 at a time

Those oxygen bobbles means the tank is well oxygenated also that could be the problem of your algae
Add some fast growing plants and less nutrients dosing and it’ll fix in a few weeks

I would keep the sae in a larger tank with more of them
Yeah, I got some more of them. The tank has changed a lot since this video, check out my most recent tank updates. I'm in plans on turning my 55 into a planted tank and I might transfer them to that tank.
what kind of male guppies are those? the rainbow looking ones with the weird tail fins?

The bubbles coming out means that the leaf is damaged n it is leaving out air... So you need to remove that leaf
What the cone triangle thing on the right hand side of your tank at the begining.

Betta only alone in a tank. Every other fish is just stress for them.
He was pretty much the one giving everyone else stress lol, but he had plenty of space to hide and hunt around. Guppy fry was his pray
@@JesemanuelRamirez prey* fish aren't religious xD
What is the name of the plant releasing the air bubbles?
The one in the background? that's called Ludwigia Repens.
Cool. Thanks for the name.

I will check them for a day and then decide if i need to get siamese algae eaters.
Never had Mollie's in a plated aquarium before
I planted after i setup the tank.
Initially my black molly was eating the algae but later all the other 3 joined in and were eating out algae :)
+pratik hande awesome
I don't know what you're doing wrong if you have CO2 and your tank still looks like that!
Poecilia wingei MASTER RACE!
Do you have a betta in their
Yes, I did at the time. Sadly he died a few months ago. Why do you ask? Just curious.
+Jesemanuel Ramirez i was wondering how he got along with the other fish
Oh he was great! He never bothered anyone and I kept him with other peaceful fish as to prevent any fighting or nipping of the fins. Also the tank size helps, which is another topic I could tackle in a future video.

your neon fish don"t look healthy.
