hello I'm from Indonesia🇮🇩, very lucky to meet you, even though we are from different countries🌏. your video work is very beautiful, I always see it from every message that comes in, I really appreciate your work, hopefully we can meet again in the latest video, ❤.❤🥰.🤗,🥰🇮🇩🙏🇮🇩
Thanks yo! I would recommend them, especially if you're looking for that extra clean up capability.
Just got one to put in my 20 gallon to take care of red algae. Will do the same as you and move it to a bigger tank in about 8 months or so.
I got them on sale at Petsmart for $1.50 ea labeled as "Algae Eater"
I feel like I overpaid now lol. I just bought 5 at PetSmart for $2.99 a piece
Great video!! I'll try and get some for my 240L.
Dope video bro
I took a picture from the internet to my local Petland . Both Petsmart and Pet Co don't sell them. I picked up two because I'm having a problem with black algae. I have a couple Octocinclus to clean the glass.
My SAE has hit around 5 1/2 inches, not really aggressive. He does enjoy pond snails now though and shrimp. Just watched him suck a snail right out of its shell with ease
I have five Otto's and they only eat BBA as a last resort and only when it's at its very shortest. Once it starts to grow out and look like hair they want nothing to do with it. They did obliterate the BBA when I first added them, clearing a carpet of Crytos in a couple of days but have since ignored the BBA on my swords and wood. They probably only go after the BBA when they're very hungry, but with a steady diet they don't bother with it.
I need help. Is it normal for siamese algae eater to hover on the middle part of the tank and stay near my water filter..
I had one. After he was grown up, he started fighting my male gourami and beat him up constantly. Specially during feeding he got out of control...they are evil! Lol
Do they eat plants too? I have couple of them in my 20 gallons tank and noticed my amazon swords leaves are thinning almost transparent.
thanks bro
yes i had some and i kept just one at the end he was fine and he was like to the other fish will u be my friend? but was not hurasing them and he was doing fine he got spoiled with flakes so he lost intrest in algea but i knew if i reduced the flakes he would go back to algea.
Whats the blue fish with the orange fins ??
The guy at the pet store told me that when they get older they don't eat algae & they get aggressive with all other fish. Can you tell of your experience? thanks
I bought 1 for my 20 gallon but I notice that since he’s not shy anymore he tends to chance my other fish is this normal ? Are they aggressive? I have tetras and rasboras
Thanks for SAE/Flying Fox info! Looks like our local PetSmart had them mislabeled too. Got 'em for $2.25 each. =)
I evicted (returned) a Rubber Lip Pleco that was not eating & just fighting my social carny goldfish & Black Moor.
Omg same thing happened to Me! They kept telling me they were otos but I didn't argue because of assume they are more expensive than otos 😂😂😂
That stinks... Funny I just picked up some Otos today for $3. They are making my SAE braver & they are trying to school with the Otos. It's adorable.
GreenImp's Stupid Snapchat Stuff - GSSS eh, I'm pretty glad they were so naive! Saved me a few bucks! But oh that's cool lol. Mine were following my Cory cats around closely. So cute!
Would 2 (True siamese algae eaters) be okay or would i be better off with 1? Considering aggression
37 gallon
Could I put 3 in a 36 gallon community guppy tank? Would they eat my fry? Will they get along with Otociclus ? My Otos's aren't eating my black beard algae
After they get big I wouldn't put it past them, mine eat shrimp and snails. Also see them munch on dead fish, and my fry numbers are dropping. I raise guppies so I don't mind only a few making it
I had two of these in a 29 gallon. They eat algae like machines when they are little, but as they got bigger, they stopped eating much algae and became interested in eating all the flake food intended for the other fish. They also seemed to get aggressive toward each other as they got older. My suggestion would be to get them as young as possible and not to keep them much past 2.5" in length.
I bought a sae yesterday and it's not eating any black beard algae on my stauryne repens and my java fern....just scavenging for fish food on the sand substrate...is that normal? he's the only sae in my tank...his tank mates are ember tetras, pygmy corydoras, otocinclus, red cherry shrimps, and 2 Amano shrimps.
Yeah i have never had a bad case of BBA, but the research that have done if i remember correctly, pretty much no fish eat it. I could be wrong, please correct me if anyone has more experience with BBA. When i would get it on the anubius, i would kinda just brush it off with a toothbrush and be sure to keep up with water changes and that seemed to help. But yeah thats ok, theyll eat flake food and algae wafers. They are probably also eating the thin layer of bio-film that grows pretty much everywhere
I had a silver flying fox (which is basically a silver Siamese Algae Eater, not a flying fox). I had Black Beard Algae on my driftwood and my guy ate it all. Ripped it right off the wood and ate it all. I read everywhere that the SAEs eat this as well. Flying Foxes (black fins) do not eat it. My Otos don't eat it either.
The problem with Siamese algae eaters is they aren't a singular genus of fish they cover a range of about 3 or 4 fish and probably about 6 or 7 can be falsely labelled as them. True Siamese algae eaters may include crossocheilus oblongus, crossocheilus langei, and crossocheilus atrilimens however oblongus is a confusing one because in the wild it is considered to be a type of blue coloured crossocheilus which is not an SAE but in the aquarium trade that fish doesn't seem to exists so the name appears to have been given to a type of SAE. So it is highly likely you bought a fish that was not a real SAE or it may have been one of those three but the one that doesn't eat BBA.
Also not that when crossocheilus siamensis is written it is just a fancy way of writing Siamese algae eaters and still doesn't refer to a single genus. So basically we all just have to be lucky and hope we get a good one that eats bba
6 inches? in my local store it said there Max size was 3cm
No way. 3 cm when they are babies. Your pet store is either unfamiliar with the species, or they have them incorrectly labeled. They get pretty big, mine right now are probably an inch or two bigger than this video and it has been a year. Check out this dudes video and you can see a few of them in various sizes. ua-cam.com/video/Frfe_rW6pZY/v-deo.html
Just bought 3, labeled as Flying Fox, for $5 each. All of their fins are transparent and the black stripe goes almost to the end of their body.
I have 2 Otocinclus too. Still not sure what all types of algae Otos eat but they haven't helped much at all that I can tell. Mine will also eat on organic zucchini.
Do they eat brown algae?and do they eat small neon tetras?
Sorry, I am honestly unfamiliar with brown algae, and as far as i know they are not carnivorous. They are a semi aggressive though so they may pick on some other fish. If you have a big enough tank though it should be fine. But you'll want to keep an eye out for sure. Maybe someone else reading the comments can chime in with some insight.
Otos do a really good job with brown algae. That's pretty much the only algae they eat in my tank though
Probably too late for you but yes these are the main suspects in my tank where I have lost all sorts of fish and my main suspects are these Siamese Algae Eaters
What are those blue fish with red fins?
Those guys are green tiger barbs. They are really cool but i would recommend getting 5 or more otherwise they pick on each other. I went with 3 and they were good for a while but eventually one just out grew they others and started running the show.
Spit the gum out brah
hahaha. so true about petsmart. complete idiots. yeah i paid 219 eaxh and i got 2 of them. but i am starting them out in my 10 gallon. and then wana move it to like a 30 gallon. theyll be ok for now right in the 10 gallon. amd also do they need love plants to survive. or how about moss balls. etc. thanks for the info
+mickey blue eyes I think that they would appreciate some live plants, but i wouldn't say that they need a lot to survive. My three that i have love flake food as well as plant based wafers.
40 gallon is enough and you don’t need a 55. Don’t listen to this guy!
Don't confuse these with Chinese algae eaters!
I don't understand why it's a big deal to keep this fish in a 20 gallon over a 30 gallon. Its not a great white shark! Its a small fish and 20 gallons is plenty. The only reason why these "SO CALL EXPERTS" tell you to get a certain tank is to sell more products! My betta is about 4 inches long does that mean I should get a 25 gallon tank over a 1.5 gallon!? NOBODY says bettas should be in a 20 or 30 gallons even though they can get as big as 3 to 4 inches if you take care of them properly. It's always amazing to me hearing all this crap about OMG! HE'S 2 INCHES BIGGER GET THE 50 GALLON!!! NOW!!! GTFOH!😒
Just bought 2 yesterday, can't wait to see what they can do! Thanks for the info!
