  • I picked up these leaf springs (Pro Comp part # 22518 for 2008-2010 Ford F250 and F350) online to fix the poorly done lift on my Super Duty. It had stock springs and 8" blocks to level it out with the front 6" lift springs. In this video I find out if they'll actually lift the back of your truck 5 inches and show you how to install them. They're a bit of a disaster, so if you're curious about these springs, watch this before you buy.

Did you put the leafs on the wrong side?

You mean did I put them on backwards? They're the same leaf side to side. They're not on backwards, they actually can't be installed backwards because the bolts are different sizes at each end.

@@backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223 I believe he meant does one of the springs have a slightly higher spring rate to account for the weight of the spare tire, as they always did in "the old days". Only a custom spring/re-arch allowed for that feature. I do not think ProComp does this.

How well have they held up?

They're doing okay, they have sagged a bit but nothing crazy. They do sag a lot with a loaded trailer hitched up, despite adding the overloads. I might need to put bags in

@@oscarfoxman785 Probably only 1/4", maybe a bit more, but I've been hauling a fuel tank for a while so I can't accurately measure yet. Hopefully next week I can get the tank out and take a proper measurement

Measuring done. One side sagged slightly worse than the other, 1/4" on the drivers side, 5/16" on the passenger. Not awesome but not bad either

@@backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223That's odd for it to sag more on the passenger side. Usually Super Duties sag to the drivers side because the fuel tank is on that side. Weird.

I’d definitely rather pay 1200 bucks for a pair of custom made leaf springs that are made for my application. That way, I don’t need any blocks, they’ll fit right in, and I know I’m getting a quality part.

Most of these trucks come with 2" or so blocks from the factory, I would never go bigger than that but up to that size they're no big deal. They're also handy for getting pinion angle right, you can customize them for the angle like I did.

@@backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223 On my early to mid Excursions the spring block is both the bumper stop plate and has a slight wedge shape to help with the driveshaft angle. I found you really should NOT omit this block when lifting. Its two inches think I think.
