    10:48 why did you waste diesel by coasting in neutral?

    • @BarrieCrampton
      @BarrieCrampton  4 роки тому +4

      Because id rather do that than wear out my brake pads, discs, tyres, gearbox, prop-shaft, diff, clutch, flywheel, engine mountings, etc etc, seems like a no brainer to me

      @@BarrieCramptonbut downshifting a gear doesn't burn fuel and engine brakes so the brakes don't wear extra

      MauriceNL so how does the engine braking slow the car down then?

    • @BarrieCrampton
      @BarrieCrampton  4 роки тому +3

      MauriceNL it puts strain on all the components, from the engine back to the tyres, coasting basically slows you down through wind resistance.
      In fact BMW have even tried to replicate coasting in their auto gearboxes to save fuel etc

      @@BarrieCrampton okay, well i learned that coasting in gear doesnt burn fuel, and idling does. The car normally says when idling maybe 0.8 liters per hour and coasting in gear 0.0 liter per hour
