FIXING MY CHEAP VOLKSWAGEN CADDY 1.6 TDI

- In this video we start some of the mechanical fixes that my #volkswagen #vw #caddy needs. In this first video we found oil in the coolant which I believe we have managed to narrow down to the oil cooler on the 1.6tdi engine but this is not certain as it may also be the housing for the oil filter.
Also we start to address the back of the van by fixing some of the rust surface rust in the flloor.

I use washing powder, just to flush. Do that multiple times, as soap is good at removing grease and oil. Make sure to put heater on to flush radiator core in dash. Once water running clear, fill with coolant.
Nice work Chris, love the back to basics with the Caddy .... Makes a nice change from the Aston and I love Aston's.
Never forget your roots! This van has done me well its time i payed it back.

Put a hose down the coolant bottle and take far end rad hose off so it got constant water running threw at same time you can see the colour that comes out

Great videos mate, I’m really enjoying this little project. I prefer it with the bulk head out. As long as that doesn’t compromise the security of your stuff in the back when it’s parked up overnight? Or safety of you with something lose in the back if you ever had a prang.

What engine can I lump in it with the least amount of hassle
Not bothered too much about power just need a replacement engine that’s strong and trustworthy?
Should sort it but I’d swap the expansion tank for how little they cost as they never clean up 100% and looks fresher to

@@Chris_Slix another thing to check is if it’s had the emmisions update done ea189 shite on it if it has get it rolled back to original software much better mpg and saves injectors and egr issues

Just a heads up, primer is not waterproof. It's actually quite absorbent. So without colour and lacquer your rust will likely come back quicker 👍
If you need any advice on these I have done arl pd150 swap from the bls and pretty much changed every part on my caddy!
