The BEST Way: From Tahiti To Moorea, French Polynesia

If you want to travel from Tahiti to Moorea, you need to find out how to get there. There are a few options, but we found the best way to travel between the two islands. We had such a great time in Tahiti, but we also desired to explore the amazing island of Moorea. In order to do this. Our day started in Tahiti and in order to get to Moorea, we could have taken a plane or a ferry. The process of flying to Moorea just would not have worked for us. The flight is only about 15 minutes, but paying the high ticket prices, checking in, and going through security was just too expensive and inconvenient. The best way from Tahiti to Moorea or Moorea to Tahiti is to take the inter-island ferry.
The ferry from Tahiti to Moorea makes island hopping so easy. There are two major ferry companies leaving from the Papeete, Tahiti, Aremiti and Terevau. We decided to take the Terevau ship because it was better for our schedule and it was slightly cheaper than the Aremiti alternative. Once aboard, we were amazed at the size of the ship and how much seating was available. There was also a kitchen with many food and drink options, but be careful because in order to use your credit cards, there is a minimum amount of money you need to spend and that minimum is even higher when using an American Express credit card. We chose to spend most of our time outside on the deck so we could get the best view both of the French Polynesian islands. As soon as we got an up close view of Moorea, we knew we made the right decision to take the ferry and to spend the next week on this island.
