Firework Show on a Budget!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 чер 2016
- Just a small backyard show! Just over 7 minutes in length that was thrown together in a short amount of time. Retail, the fireworks in this show cost approximately $450... so don't ask! :)

I apologize for two things:
1) The shakiness/talking fast in the video.
2) Not having the video of the entire show from the audience perspective. The camera that was setup for this became corrupted, so I was not able to use that footage as I had planned.
I hope you still enjoy!
On a budget would be more like $100. $450 can buy a lot of fireworks, I spent $500 for the 4th and got near 300 canister's to pop off! That is a good-sized show.
NICE
$100 is not a budget for fireworks. That wont get you much for a "show". This was a budget show, therefor you need to spend some money to make it good
+Matthew you're right! Most fireworks stores out there are busting people's heads on their prices! I'm lucky enough to get a 24pk of some good quality cans for around $1.35 a shot!.. Everywhere I go elsewhere the price is triple & above for some good canister's!
+Cameron Cooper yeah, i live in a state where fireworks are illegal so I've got to go out of state and the prices are crazy at firework stores that are close to the border of their state because they know people from out of state are their main customers
My family spent 700 dollars today but it was buy one get one so we got a bunch of huge cakes and some nice new stuff and some cool smoke bombs and stuff. They also gave us free cakes.
That was a great little show. !👍🏾
Nice, I love peonies and willows, especially with crackles
Hey man do you use cobra systems? How do you like them?
I am looking at buying the 36 cue system and just had some questions from a current customer of theirs
What system did you use to sync the fireworks?
I think that is a cobra system
We're can I buy the control at ?
cobrafiringsystems.com is what I used in this video.
$3000 worth of electronic equipment to shoot $450 worth of fireworks. Makes sense.
Agreed. Do it properly
that was great!!
What's a gerb?
It's like a fountain, but creates more of a jet stream of sparks in a specific direction. Generally same effect (like all gold sparks) and is more accurately timed than a traditional fountain.
This would be considered a big show for me..lol I only spend $100-$200 a year
As long as you enjoy it, it doesn't matter how much you spend!
For a great show get shrooms first plenty beer and weed and y'all be great with sparklers!!!!😂💨💨💨💨💨
dude that is like 800 nowadays
At least $800, probably more!
budget huh 450 is a pretty high budget
Can you try a show only using 200g& 350g cakes... kind of like a challenge. that would be cool. Like if you agree!
I like this idea!
Joel Robinson can you do the cherry drop
Cherry Drop by Red Rhino? I've used that in shows past and absolutely loved it!
joel you do nice work. truly a great addition to this hobby
Thank you for the kind words!
+Joel Robinson which firework place do you recommend to go to
Joel, that was great for a show on a budget! Nicely done bro!
I like fireworks . But my country hates fireworks ( netherlands.) .
Ja echt hé gvd

Been watching since July 4th 2014, love the videos
nice, didn't mind the looking at the sequence at all. Love that shit. Finishing up mine now!!
Pretty much around $450 as well.
Happy Independence Day!
Great Video Joel, glad to see your still uploading!!!
Trying to upload more often, been way too busy!
love your videos , you really help when it comes to shopping for fire works !
Thank you, glad to hear!
I missed you man! Glad to see another video
Joel, thanks for the demo! Loved to see how you set up the show with firing system
Thank you. You should see more of that in upcoming videos this year.
great job man!!! i love the whistlling stuff!! gets me going lol
Nice Joel!! great video man
Looks great. Have a good 4th!
Great show!
thank you ill get one of those too. thank you for your shows
No problem, thanks for watching!
where do you go to do fireworks?
bppyro pyrotechnic 9
Really great show, Joel!
Greetings from Germany! :)
great show!
This looks amazing with the vr goggles!!
wow looked really good Monday is the 4th of July too !!
omg I love your videos bro thanks for posting another one
Stay tuned for more!
This is so accurate to my finales each year... Same amount of cakes as u, sometimes more. Only difference i do is i make 3 finale boards, i fuse them up by hand (no electronic firing systems) and then before show i just connect boards with more fuse. This was sick to watch because i relate so much. Keep it up
Nice! Thanks for showing all the steps and showing the final results.
Thank you! I will be posting another setup video this week, which I think has a lot better detail that I think you will enjoy
very nice. I'm still fusing everything together with mixed speed fuses, can't wait to get myself a cobra system, been wanting one for years but something always comes up when I get close to ordering. Very nice though
loved the opening of the show mine will be the same can't wait until Monday
Still enjoyed the video man! Pretty nice for a backyard fireworks show!
Ok. Thanks for the info Joel. Have a great day!
Joel, are you going to be doing your stash videos or setup videos this year?
This video was really fun and interesting. I've never E-Fired before, so I didn't know what went into it or what it was like. Fascinating video and you caught plenty of the firework bursts anyways so it was a great show! :D
E-Firing is the way to go! If you can afford to invest in a system, I highly recommend it! Some might say it's more work, but it's safer and really pushes your shows to the next level!
Joel Robinson Okay, sounds neat. I found it pretty funny when you said "retail value is *only* around $450 on this show". I usually spend $150-250 on my show (or $100-150 each on multiple shows) each year, so the fact that you could blow $450 and call it a cheaper show was fascinating and cool to me. :D
I guess the thought was, a lot of people on previous shows thought I was spending thousands of dollars, which just wasn't the case. I understand the idea of a "small show" will be completely between different people. Also, I had to name the video something! :)
Joel Robinson ...I was actually one of those people who thought you were probably spending thousands on previous shows, but that was just because they were so good and you used such high-quality products. To know that the products you use aren't too far away from my budget range is actually surprising since it's always shown to us like fireworks are this thing that if you don't have money, you get crap and unless you have a couple grand, you don't get many good products. This proves that whole entire "stereotype?" wrong and I'm glad it does! :)
Exactly! Now, of course the firing systems will set you back a lot of money. However, once you invest in one, you have it forever. I think the best thing to do when buying fireworks is price match. The place that we bought these fireworks from had reasonable prices to start. They also offered 10% off when you hit $500, hence our cost was actually $450. I prefer places like this over the Buy One, Get One schemes. Lastly, if you can get some friends together to spend more money, it would make sense to look into buying wholesale. That's where the real discounts are.
Great video love your channel !
Thank you!
very nice show joel
I have some cakes that got wet, how to dry them out so that they are usable
how long do they need to dry to be good again
is there anything special I need to do
Joel, u should do a firework shopping Trip video this year your other ones have been really good and personally my favorite videos
Yes, those have been the most requested video. I'll see what I can do
Ok I need to get one of those control boxes for fireworks shows. I've been doing this stuff manually for years.
It's a great investment
nice job .that was some good show
Lovely Video! Cheers from Germany :))
Thanks! Cheers!
Joel Robinson get man can you do a charry dtop
Can i have a Firework list for this show? Im on a budget of $500.
Im going firework shopping tomarrow. So if your there, please reply ASAP
I do not have a written list, but I showed everything that was in this show in the video! I listed it piece by piece with quantities
What kind of 18 channel board do you have and where did you get it? Looks good!
One more thing I forgot to ask you what is that black thing that you're putting the fireworks in them for and also where did you buy your fireworks
Check out my 2016 shopping trip video to see where I bought the fireworks. The black box is a COBRA Firing System. In the field were the modules and the remote was connected to my tablet.
dont panic foamy! im not planning on going anywhere for a good while yet 💥💥💥
For $65 I got an 100 shot saturn missile battery, two boxes of 6 artillery shells, 8 five ball artillery candles, 156 bottle rockets, 2 packs of firecrackers, and a few assorted small ground items. Just curious, did I get a good deal, average deal, or did I get ripped off?
I think that's right on par with what I would pay! So no, I don't think you got ripped off at all
Yo Joel Robinson have you ever bin to the spirit of 76 warehouse in Easton pa because I never bin before but I was gonna cheak it out its about a 2 hour drive I live in nj. But I was just wondering if it was a good warehouse to go and I herd you can only buy it by the case so I was gonna pick up a case of artillery shells and maybe some other stuff for the forth of July
I have not been to this location. I'm not sure if they sell retail, but they do have case sales. I would check out their website for more information, price lists, etc.
That was great! 👍🏽
Based on my own enjoyment of this video and the sounds of the audience response, I'd say this was close to the prefect show. Btw, I actually enjoyed that overhead fan angle, beautiful effects.
Thank you for the comment! I posted another show for the 4th, which in my opinion, was much better!
Joel, where can I send you pictures for the 2016 Stash video
Tomorrow I can't wait
Are you farmilliar with tnt fireworks or do you not use them often
Sucks that the video got corrupted, but still is a great video. I'll sub :)
Looks great Joel -- amazing it's only $450.
Im wondering if you had screen capture of when each cue shot? working on next year and going electric. how do you find out how long a cake last and when to start the next one?
I think I still have my script somewhere. Research, I use wikifireworks.com. If there is information missing from the wiki, I'll search the companies websites that try and find the information and then add it to the wiki.
+Joel Robinson im doing research. its just harder when your newer. yes i know practice..:) love all your vids. so for example if a cake last 40secs, you shoot the next one 10secs before its done? also how do you know what goes with what?
+PyroJoe One of the best things about the wiki is you can create tags and the export all of the information of the cake. I normally start the next cake right at the end of the first cake. Or, blend like effects together. Check out the show I did for the 4th this year. The very end of the setup I briefly showed the script as well.
+Joel Robinson yep watching now....i just bought from local shooter his "consumer" racks. 4x 12shot, 2 x 24shots and one 30 shot hdpe racks. ill check out that site thanks
Great show! I know the other camera didn't work but it's not like we'd see much more anyways thanks to all that smoke XD
That's a good point. It was just on a tripod so there would not have been all the commotion that is seen in the handheld video and it would have had a fixed view on the fireworks the whole time.
what program you using thatll tell you what cake is being shot. thanks
I used COBRA Show Creator to script the show and then I was using the COBRA Control Panel in the video to watch the show in progress.
have to put my show on hold. but to you and others gonna be great.
where did yall do it at
Nice job with the show...where would you recommend purchasing a firing system?
Depends on your budget. I'd recommend going with cobrafiringsystems.com, but if you have a smaller budget, one of the quantum fire systems would be a start.
We have a small group of 20-30 people each year that pool together about 800 bucks or so. Myself and two others are the ones that set it up and light them off for the others. I have been looking at the Cobra on and off over the last year and seeing this I am sold. So here is to hoping that next year the home made ignition panel box can get retired for a Cobra set up.
I love your firework show they are so cool
I love your firework show they are so cool
Hey man nice job on your video I liked all the fireworks I thought they sounded cool and happy Fourth of July to everyone, but what was that black thing on the table next to your phone like it had different buttons like presets
I think your talking about the controller. Thats what sends the wireless signals to the boxes out in the field to shoot the fireworks. Its called the "Cobra 18R2 Scripted Remote" more info here www.cobrafiringsystems.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=50
He answered the question! I have a video on the system itself and use it very frequently throughout my videos.
Very good show, what was the show for
Where do u get all ur fireworks wat state
Will you be making a finale board again?
Where did you buy these fireworks
I noticed a couple years ago you had some pretty good mortar racks. Do you not use them much in your shows or do you prefer to use mostly cakes?
I have moved since I made those. While I still own them, I lent a bunch to a friend of mine since I moved so far away. I still love using shells in a show. I will say that shells are more work than cakes and can also increase your budget rather quickly when you buy a bunch of canister shells.
Nice video, I really like the show! I have a question for you, I am doing a show this year that is going to have a lot of cakes in it and I have read that some of the pros will remove the plastic and paper from the tops of the cakes right before a show so that the shots are not blowing through and scattering garbage everywhere. Apparently some of the bigger guys do this to help minimize the cleanup afterwards. What is your opinion on doing this?
I normally do this as well if I have time. You'll see that in some of my older videos, but it is not necessary.
Thanks for the response I appreciate it. I am looking to minimize the mess wherever I can.
You're welcome. Yeah, I agree.
What software and device did you have hooked up to your remote? It looked like a touch pad of some sort but i didn't recognize the software on it. I didn't realize you could use a cable with certain software and run the script from your electronic device rather then your cobra remote. Very cool! Nice job!
I was using the Control Panel. Came out last year. I hope to use the newest version next week (its not yet released) so stay tuned for more footage on it! There are some very cool new features coming to it!
Also, you can download a demo version if you would like to check it out for yourself. It's only on Android play store, Cobra Control Panel
wonder if you can do it with an arduino
Hey, I am from Hungary. Here fireworks are very expensive. Can you tell me a website where the fireworks are cheap and shipped abroad ( to Hungary) I am looking to your answer!
Btw, nice show!
I'm not familiar with a company here in the states that does international shipping. You might want to look into importing them from China.
Just curious but have you ever thought of using a couple #500 tubes like a Golden Willow it would pretty nice with a nice 200 gram or 350 gram cake
Yes I have. I just haven't since the single shot tubes are normally so expensive. For a pyromusical, I think those would work well for emphasizing certain parts of a song. You might see me do that next year.
great video, do you guys sell fireworks? or just shoot them off also, whee do you guys get your fireworks? I'm located in Ohio, thanks & sorry for all the questions...
No, I do not sell fireworks. I have purchased fireworks from a number of different places. Depending where you are at in Ohio, I would check out WFBoom or possibly go over to Indiana or PA.
personally , I like this POV better because we get to see what kind of control happens during a fireworks show. just a like a behinde the scenes
Yeah I agree. I just had an actual camera on tripod to capture a better quality video that didn't work out haha. This footage will have to suffice
+Joel Robinson well I'd have to say it worked out for the better. haha
Happy 4th of July everyone🎆🎇🇺🇸
Will you be doing a 2016 subscribers firework stashes?
Yep! Expect the video next week!
wind is your friend and enemy 😢 you need it to blow the excess smoke out but when you're tryna hand light thing it makes it hard 😢
Right! Too much is dangerous, not enough hides effects.
Yes thank you, nice videos!!!!
That was some good fireworks
sucks here in canada. For $450 we can only get maybe about 6-8 cakes and some roman candles... They charge around $60 for a decent cake
Canada's dollar is also inflated compared to a US dollar. For example, that $60 cake in Canada, only cost $46 in the US.
Sucks when smoke blocks the breaks , Same thing happened during a Astros game i was at couldnt see most of the breaks for smoke covering them.
regardless of the mis-fires it was a great set up and show.
oh my god do you live there? :O
that is such a beatiful location to live!!!
Is That a Galaxy Tab A? excuse I am watching this video with One if it is that is frickin awesome
we put together ra kuchen bigger show but we use propane torches but I just think you should use wiring when it's a much bigger show and class b definitely have to use them !
There's nothing wrong with being safe and professional even on smaller shows.
Some states require the use of electronic firing systems.
Just out of curiosity, what do you do for a living and do you get paid for any of your firework shows
The shows I post to UA-cam I do not get paid for. I do some shows that I get paid for, but that's for a display company that has strict no filming setup rules, so you will not see them on UA-cam.
+Joel Robinson ok just wondering, must be a fun job
Well that's not actually what I do for a living. I have an actual day job
Any firework shopping videos coming ?
Maybe :)
How do you do that?
Can you do something with firecrackers
When fusing, is it better to use tape or zip-ties?
Tape for sure as it will biodegrade. More specifically the heavy paper tape manufactured by ipg. It remains tacky in high humidity environments.
zip ties
I'd say that's based on opinion. I personally prefer tape.
yours go by music to right is that harder than shooting them off with cobra
sorry did not get it perfect I want to get the cobra firing system I use 2 20 shot racks fuse quick fuse excaliburs awesome video still
