I have stereo speakers on my phone and I could hear it fine?
It's for mono speakers only. It's called destructive interference. It happens when sound waves cancel out each other when put into a mono channel. That's why your stereo phone speaker can, but my mono phone speaker cannot.

However, it is suuuuper convenient and awesome for a beginner.
I absolutely love mine.
I can use the drum kit at my church anytime I want a better experience/ better practice.
It is great for practice.
I only paid $35 for it.
Also, I have a lot of music in my background.
The instrument I am proficient on is far too expensive for me to purchase 😬, I certainly don't have room for the next one I have some proficiency on... also expensive.

3 things:
1. you can use the special button to swap the positions of SNARE and Hi-Hat Pads
2. I think usb is only for power supply. In any case, I will try connecting to the computer with a DAW and I will give you news in case it works as a MIDI controller, although at the moment that is not the case.
3. its actually too loud

The speaker looked like a router
This was one of the "funner to watch" gear demos I've seen than usual. I even snickered a bit. It conveyed what this doormat drumkit basically sounds like, so, it gets about "A-" from me.

i actaully have a drum pad like this but it doesnt have icons to tell you what drum part does what but anyways you actually can do the crossing thing you just have to hold your sticks in a very specific way

There r some others that look similar to those pads but with a USB out, and says in the description that it can b connected to PC (not for power). I wonder if u tried any of them and if it is possible to control Ableton samples through them.

I tested a similar kit which i bought on amazon last week. Mine had a midi usb out and i could connect it to garage band using garage bands samples. One issue i had, i couldn't turn down the Volume completely. I solved this by plugging the line out cable to the head phone jack. A more anoying issue i had, the triggers where misplaced inside the Rubber... So hitting one pad triggered another pad as Well. And the triggers quite often failed to fire. I returned it and spent additional 50 Euro to by a Fame DD 350.

try cutting them out find their conductor and extend them so you could put them in places like real drumkit

Some of the sounds sound funny. Not sure if it has a USB for midi. I actually have a 88 key roll up keyboard instead which also functions like a midi controller when i connect it to Magix music maker.
How about connecting to a decent speaker...?
If you put in quality amp and speakers,and if you know how to use real drums... You can use anything
