Which obscure instrument do you want an electric version of?
The Glass Armonica!
Kazzoo but it probably already exists.
It does! Saw one a while back :)
One of those wooden frogs.
Jaw harp 😅
3:12 "Ben, put your thumb guards on." Charles is so nice ☺
I think a electric kalimba mostly would be useful for recording songs.
Very true!
No overdrive? But how will I know if this is the right instrument for my doom metal band?
4:53
@Bartô N I can help with that
Don't ask
I wanted to know how a metal kalimba would sound like..
3:30 God Damm8t Charles. The comedic chemistry is the best
Your channel is so underrated bro !
These videos are entertaining af.
Have you tried this with pedals? I can imagine a reverb would work wonders on this, or a fuzz.
Can I record or use a headphonejack to hear the music out of headphones ?
Yea boi, chuck that mad dawg thru some serious effects
My kalimba came with a manual with the exact same notations for little star 🤣 It took me 30 minutes til I finally gave up and searched "Can't help falling in love" notations instead. I had my kalimba for over a week now and I have learned over 15 songs in total. GLAD I DIDNT WASTE TIME TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THOSE NOTATIONS
1:51 pew!
Not sure why, but Ben getting worked up about playing those instruments is really entertaining to me.
Don't worry, you're not the only one!
Dig the videos and channel man, thank you.
Been looking at random instruments to buy and your videos keep popping up on my searches. Same wavelength of thought* ✌️👍🤙
I like how he say “KaLimBa”
The sound hole returns
All hail the sound hole
But djentle men we must find out what it sounds like through the Ultimate rig.... A Korg Miku, a Metal Zone and a Line 6 Spider
1:20 Ben is so "mean"😂
We have the same instrument lol. Like literally the same design
YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE MY ONLY SUNSHINE YOU MAKE ME HAPPY!
Ok, this was actually massively entertaining.
Awesome review, I'd love to get my hands on a Kalimba sometime!! 😃
New Avatar The Last Airbender series coming, can't wait to make a tribute to its soundtrack!!!
“I’ve stopped recording to don’t bother”
It's not a LOOTd video without at least 2 typos in the subtitles
Thanks for the review! I saved some Money because of it!
I badly need this!!
I want to connect my kalimba to a speaker ... A normal speaker... Help me 🙁
I play kalimba, your right about a tuning hammer
Why am I watching a video by guys who don't have a clue what they're talking about? I'm a novice looking for guidance. This isn't helping. Anyway, you can get a wah wah reverb sound by moving your fingers across the holes on the back of the instrument or by moving your thumb into the sound hole. It only really works with a few of the notes. There is also an instrument called a sansula which is a kalimba mounted to the head of a drum which is specifically made for that kind of modifying of the sounds. The question I have is, would it make any difference to the output of the instrument if you put the electronic pickup jack on the top of the kalimba rather than on the bottom. I think the plug and wire would get more in the way on the bottom since I tend to use the kalimba down close to my body or near, or on, a tabletop. I'm thinking of converting one of my kalimbas to electronic so I can record.
@@saintnash1 Thanks!
Can we connect it directly to a sound card via a line cable (TRS cable) and record the audio in a DAW?
I think u should use midi
That's not quite the definition of an "electric instrument" but hey. It's just a kalimba with a pickup. I've got a western guitar with a pickup and a built in tuner - that doesn't make it an e-guitar! 😂 The use of a pickup is to amplify the sound and a kalimba is literally the most quiet instrument I can think of 😂 It's obviously got no chance between other instruments, even with a singer it's gonna be too quiet. So a pickup is very much needed for playing together, playing on gigs, concerts etc. and also for recording tracks "cleanly". I thought that was evident 🙈 That's basically always the point of an amp, except for like e-guit and bass where you need the amp to hear any good sound at all.
fuck i thought charles had shaved his head and i got so scared for a minute
now hes got a Proper Man Bun
He's a real man now
The one ear stretch is so weird
Can i ask something, can the plug of the kalimba fit into other much smaller speaker plss someone reply
Would be amazing if it was Made to look like the body of a les Paul or something hahaha
2:09 Sounded like the start of Mo Bamba
It’s a soft instrument (to quote your words) but can an electric kalimba have distortion on it so it sounds a bit metal?
Please do a video for tank drum
I think if you got a more electric sounding Kalimba it would be great for like the old west coast rap like still dre
Can we reset the ton of our own electric kalimba?
what is the best electric or not ?
I'd have loved to see it with a distortion pedal
Never once tried changing the amp knobs to for instance make it sound like an electric guitar / piano / metal twang.
Come on dude..
Of course you missed the obvious reason for the electric input. Your DAW. Instead of using a microphone, you plug this device into your audio interface to feed it directly to your daw, or loop pedle etc etc.
Very true!
With distortion maybe?
I hope i have one of this instrument
My kalimba has a solid, not hollow, body, so mine is VERY quiet. Like, I can play it in a room full of sleeping people who hate music and have no sense of humor, and they won't notice. My daughter has one with a hollow body and it's pretty loud. Too bad mine doesn't have a jack for an amp! It kinda needs it! Although, I am looking into those ones that look like stethoscopes and attach to violins and acoustic guitars. 🤔
You know you didn’t need to buy one for electric
I bought one and it comes with a electric aucostic pickup and I can use it on an amp too
where did you buy it ??
Now add some gain and use distortion.
boi you stretched one ear only? mad lad
3.50 is from japan
What size of Kalimba strings freight?
that's literally my kalimba hahahaha
Can’t play instruments, yet we should take your advice lol.
Obviously
But does it Djent?
Где скачать ноты для этого инструмента ????
Pls do more jimu robots!!!!
Does it sound the same without using the pickup than a normal kalimba (not an electric) ? Nice Video btw
Yunie White yeah, i have the exact same question on my mind
@@joannapat9240 😂😁 haha
I prefer my classic Kalimba over this electric version. I was looking into buying an electric but it sounds basically the exact same.
WHERE IS BEN!
I MISSED A COUPLE OF VIDEOS AND BEN DIED!?!?!?
very nice
I wonder how fuzz work on ut
Hi hi hi lootd
How's the sound of your kalimba without amplifier is it still loud?
Eliza Pabilane still loud sis I have electric acoustic kalimba too..
@@lizgomera2513 so, does it sound the exact same as a regular kalimba, when not plugged into an amp?
Tenta legendar os vídeos
4:53 😂😂😂
😍😍😍😍😍😍
I have a normal kalimba.
Can you shred on this?
You can try
ANOTHER KALIMBA??! And you still don't want to give me one of yours? Last video you said Ben claims them as his :'( ...but now? Ben, 1 years and I still starve for one
I know it's been a year but ... I'd take one from him too 😂😂😂😂 #Kalimba_Giveaway
