- F2L (First Two Layers) is the second stage of CFOP, where you solve the first two layers of the cube at the same time. It's one of the fastest and most popular Rubik's Cube speedcubing methods. In this video I teach you the easiest way to solve F2L using only 5 basic cases.
This video is a complete intuitive F2L tutorial for beginners, including examples and breakdowns of each case. See the structure of the video below, along with additional resources.

Hey everyone, due to the number of FAQ in the comments, I've decided to address them here. Please see the following notes if you encounter these issues.
*1) Scrambles not working/not giving you the cross solved:*
• Use the notation at the top of the screen to follow the scramble - they should all work. Sometimes I end the part with me scrambling the cube early so the video isn't unnecessarily long. I know this can be difficult for people who don't know cube notation, so I would highly recommend learning it since it only takes a few minutes and is used everywhere in cubing. Cube notation tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/PhcnmY7_RkQ/v-deo.html (new version coming soon)
*2) Solving an F2L pair unsolves existing pairs:*
• I cover this at 17:35 when I teach you how to solve the last pair without messing up existing pairs. This wasn't mentioned at the beginning to keep things simpler.
Please comment if there are any other issues you're having and I'll address them here! Thanks for the love and support on this video ❤

Me too
best tutroial for f2l, thnx
Hi it’s really hard and I don’t know what to do because for example I have one of the five fundamental cases but the on at the back is the other way round like say you say it should be red on top not blue I have blue on top not red, I have just learned the beginner method I have looked at many tutorials now and decided to comment on one hope you can help me thanks
hey I was wondering what do you do when you get the case that is shown at 17:03 . I keep getting the case on the upper left and I am not sure on how to solve it
Even Jperm's video on this didn't cover all the cases which really confused me. It also didn't cover what to do when the hiding trick messes up other pairs. Keep up with the good videos!
Exactly J perms videos are SO confusing and it’s too fast for beginners to understand 😭
This is the first video series I've found that covers topics like how to approach learning new techniques. For some reason, most tutorials (JPerm's included) skip that step.
Bruh i just came from his video cause i was frustated to not understand lol
@@mansnothot3518lmao same. 😂
I’m not sure it covered all cases, but he did say what to do to prevent the hiding trick messing up stuff at the last set chapter
you're the only tutorial maker that doesn't stress me out when it comes to cubing, your explanations are much better than i see online by advanced cubers, sometimes they forget to tell us what what they're actually doing but you "dumb it down" for us beginnners in a good way
Most of my college Math and Engineering professors were terrible educators and first class research scientists. It goes with the territory that people who are talented in things like this often have poor communication skills and 'live in their own head' which limits their self-perception when dealing with others. The speedcubing video ecology is a case example.
Agreed 👍
Even cubastic is better
It's just that the rubix cube for people who don't know how to solve it is like impossible but when you learn it's so easy so when you're teaching you have to be so stupidly slow (for yourself at least) to make sure everyone can understand
what cube its he using? and how dose he black it out?@@Ahmad--Edits
Hands down best F2L learning resource on the internet!
Thank you! 😀
I love the blacked out pieces that don't matter. Some tutorials have normal Cubes that make my eyes hurt. Really help alot
Dang, it's been a long time. I learned F2L 8 years ago from your old tutorials. I used to watch every new video as soon as I got home from school in grade school and junior high. Now I'm in college. Thanks for all the videos you made all those years ago, and good luck in the future. It's awesome to see you upload again.
I give up this is too hard and ur terrible u should've made it so I can learn it in 2 minutes

One of the Best tutorials of F2L on the web . Honestly it was so clear I didn't need to rewind .
bruh maybe im dumb but im so confused
@@Grandpa_Ojiisan you are not alone buddy.
Unless you learned f2l already
I am a beginner solver and this is by far the BEST training video I have ever seen on F2L. Bar none! I have seen alot and this is the 1 that keep going back 2 if I need help.
This is the BEST F2L video. I tried the J Perm video and long story short, I came out of it crying. It is so well made and easy to understand. Thank you so much bro!
I literally had the same situation glad I’m not the only one!
My brother simps for j perm and he gets really mad when I use another video
@@sujithajohn2682 oh....
Yeah i first learned through j perm but the way the cfop method is explained seems way more efficient here plus it really helps to see it that way

This is easily the clearest tutorial I've seen, goes at a beginner friendly pace also. That cube with the black squares on makes it SO easy to follow!!
Don’t lie to yourself this made no sense at all how tf am i supposed to know what u prime means or f
@@tacoman5484 just search a video that shows the algortihms on youtube, if you want to learn CFOP, knowing the algorithms will help you a lot
@@tacoman5484 you don't know what that means because you don't know cube notations. you should memorize those before learning how to solve a cube in the first place.
@@tacoman5484why are you on CFOP tutorial when you haven't even learnt the cube notations, or maybe even the beginner method? Search for "beginner method" and "cube notations" instead
Thank you so much for this video. I had been searching and searching for a video to properly explain f2l to me, a complete beginner. All the popular channels with millions of views, none of them could actually explain it coherently to a layman. But i stumbled upon your channel like a hidden treasure and i finally grasped it!! 😊
Couldn’t agree more!
I watched several F2L videos and tried hard to follow that F2L flowchart that’s out there, but this video and this approach was the only one that worked for me. It helps so much to think of the “5 cases” and learn each as a separate thing. You are very smart to think of this.
Same here man he is a good teacher.
Same
This video is so well made! Glad to see an upload from you 👍
Ayy thanks man! I appreciate the support
this is the best F2L tutorial I've found... it explains what our goal is and how to get there, instead of just dropping algs for memorization. Thank you so much for this!
YOU EXPLAIN IT SO GOOD! You've taught me more f2l in 1 vid, then opposed to other youtubers telling me in 5 vids. YOU'RE THE KING, KEEP IT UP!!!
I feel like all the other f2l videos are super confusing, but the idea to split all the cases into the basic 5 really helps, and now I can practice f2l! My friend referred me to this video and I'm so glad he did. Nice work!
I've searched for a lot F2L videos and this is simply the best explanation on YT. Period. Thank you PC!
What makes this video far superior to the others are the CHAPTERS! I can just skip to the case I need for type I need to solve. Thank you so much for that. And you also have the algorithms up top as you go along. That’s very helpful (not that I’m good at following that way). I can do the beginners method over and over but now I need to step it up to the next level.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL!!!❤❤ ive been struggling for weeks until i found this tutorial, its soooo helpful an di understand everything unlike every other tutorial i watched!😊
Amazing... I cant believe how clearly he explained this. I FINALLY know how to do CFOP. If only other UA-camrs were like this...
Years ago, I used to watch your videos. Now I average about 20 seconds (my personal best being 10.54 seconds). Watching your videos after a long time is kinda nostalgic.
I am just about as good as you. I am sub 20 as well... Abut more faster than sub 20 and my personal Best is 9.40s.
I’ve been cubing for a week now, I have fully learned 2 step Oll and pll before F2l. This longer video helps more than any other I have seen, thank you
That's fake, no way u did that, its impossible
@@madrid_on_alt_547 it aint, watch other people getting 2 seconds
@@madrid_on_alt_547 ??? wr is under 4 secs
Yep, this made me finally get it. Not JPerm, not BrodyTheCuber, but this one. Was solving F2L myself in an hour of practice. The hiding trick was the main difference, made it so much easier. (I didn't check out the last F2L part, and was frustrated at how a F2L pair was always left, a reminder to watch the whole video!)
Same here, this is the one!!!
Out of all the videos this video was the only one that made me understand f2l
Really appreciate the slow moves for teaching! Never understood why some cubers solve at lightning speed on a tutorial. Some of them solve so fast I can’t follow the moves even when slowing down the playback speed and doing this makes absolutely no sense in a tutorial! So this tutorial is by far the best F2L video I’ve ever seen! Thanks!
100% improvement over the first version of this video. That version left me feeling lost and stupid, but this one took me straight from beginner to being able to solve F2L every time. Very nicely done!!! Subbed.
Glad you found it helpful!
I give up this is too hard and ur terrible u should've made it so I can learn it in 2 minutes
I watched other tutorials for F2L, and I was thinking about giving up cfop. I then tried to learn Roux, but I figured it was much harder. Then I found this video and now I know how to do F2L! This is the best F2L tutorial I've seen! Thank you so much for helping me!
I could not agree more with you, bro, and i add... By far the best F2L tutorial video.
Thanks for sharing it with us, I appreciate it.
Peace out!
I can’t do it I’ve tried forever
I’m just gonna quit
This is by far the best tutorial video on F2L i've watched.
Watched dozens of F2L videos, THIS one is the BEST
This is so useful. I’ve recently starting cubing and have just been using the beginners method, averaging 90 seconds for a solve. I’ve managed to get the hang of F2L watching your video where other videos were far too complicated. Thanks for making it straightforward!
🎉
I've been cubing for at least 10 years and mostly haven't gotten below 75 seconds, but 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL have brought it down typically to a minute or less!
I love u brother 7 years ago I learnt CFOP using ur tutorials and now again you have came up with some awesome tutorials for beginners … ATB ! Buddy
Thanks for the continued support! Hopefully these tutorials will help the next generation of cubers.
@@ParadoxCubing yeah !
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I watched like 50 other videos and none of them made sense until I watched this one
Literally the BEST tutorial for F2L I've watched
I couldn’t really wrap my head around f2l but this video made it very simple, thanks 👍
I thought it was extremely complicated but you explained it so well that I learned it in like half an hour
HOW
I’ve been sat here watching this over and over for the past 5 hours trying to memorise each algorithm
I've watched a lot f2l videos but this one made me learn f2l
this is legit the only tutorial that worked for me. You cleared all my doubts... Thx man, You earned yourself a sub
All other UA-camrs were bad at explaining this! You did an amazing job! Keep up the good work you just earned a sub!
I swear to god this is so much better than the other vids. You explain it! The others just show it and expect us to know how to convert them lmao
After watching 3 videos I finally found one that actually helps
So many people just watch the short videos expecting to understand while this video exists.
This is the best video that teaches f2l
BEST F2L TUTORIAL FOR PEOPLE THAT NEED IT EXPLAINED BETTER! Thank you, I LOVE that you broke each scenario down into sections (most tutorials skip that important part) and I'm going to be referencing just your video for help! I subbed, and thank you for the easy tutorial, I'm seriously impressed! ❤❤❤🎉😉🤟⚡️
Been watching this video a LOT- and I can finally do F2L! There aren’t many people these days who can explain this so clearly and understandable so for that, I really appreciate it and I’m sure others do too! Thanks!
Err.. what video???
How fast can ubdo f2l now?
@@joco2560 I average about 19 seconds now to solve the cube whereas before I knew f2l I would get about 40s to a minute
@melanieblacklock9533 wow that's good. U know the advanced f2l now right?
@@joco2560 Yep!
Thank you very much for the help! When I first searched Beginner F2L I got a video from J Perm. After that video I felt really confused and I could only do F2L stage in around 15 minutes. Then I found your video and it cleared everything for me. Now I can do F2L in around 2 minutes. Thank you!
i was getting so mad because no video would help me but this on helped so much. Thank you
Wow, this video is amazing, I hadn't been able to learn F2l and now I can, so thanks
I was struggling soo much to understand F2L but this video made it 100x times easier.
Thanks a lot ✨
Same brooooo
This is by far the best tutorial online!!! I learned f2l on a completely intuitive level, dont even need algorythms. You explain this very well, thank you!
This is the best F2L video that I have seen! Thank you for breaking this down into understandable steps and for taking it slow. So many other youcubers blow through the solve just to show how fast they are. Noobs like me cannot follow that speed while trying to learn the concept. Perfect instructional tutorial. Thank you!
Having maxed out my speed using beginner methods, I need to learn F2L. I tried several different tutorials and just couldn't get my head around it and gave up - until I watched your tutorial. Honestly, this is the only resource I've found which explains it clearly and in a manageable way to get started. My solve speed is now 3 times longer than with beginner method, but I'm looking forward to improving quickly now I understand how it works. I can't thank you enough!
I have watched many F2L tutorials but this one was the most intuitive for me.
I’ve watch like 12 videos on F2L and this was the only on that make sense you are a life saver

An update: 6 days ago I complimented the creator for his superb 2FL made simple demo of the above. Well, I have so far mastered it somewhat enough to now break thru between the 50-60 sec mark from my previous best of 65-75 sec using the beginner method... and am shooting for the next 30 to 40 sec mark with more practice. I did actually watch just the first 5 mins of the above video and figured out the rest as I went along that took many hours. Even as a veteran of the beginner method, I find learning the 2FL very challenging initially. But this vid is a blessing n is by far the best illustration out there; all it takes is extra patience and determination for learners.
Once again my mucho appreciation to the creator and happy cubing to all speedcubers.
I’ve been on UA-cam for hours……. But not yet found a good tutorial……. Wait this one is the one! Thank you so much!
Many of the other F2L tutorials are so confusing. This is by far the best F2L tutorial because it is so clear and easy to follow! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much for this amazing video!! I tried so many videos trying to learn F2L and this one is the only one that made sense. You took some thing that seems so complicated and made it very understandable.
I give up this is too hard and ur terrible u should've made it so I can learn it in 2 minutes
At a first attempt of CFOP method I solved, because of this video 😁😁😃😃🇮🇳🇮🇳
i learned how to solve a speed cube faster than ever, thanks!
I have watched so many videos to learn F2L and this is the only one that I understand! Nice job 👍🏾
this is soo good! i've been trying to speed cube for 2 years and this tutorial is the best! I ran into all the problems when I do f2l but this tutorial helped me a lot! keep up the good work!
Best f2l tutorial tbh you showed us every example
The best tutorial ever! This guy is the first to learn me how to solve f2l and I could not be more thankfull. =)
This is the only tutorial that I actually understood as the pace is perfect for a beginner like me and the black cube just makes it so easy to follow along.
Thank you so much
The absolute best tutorials online. Watched so many videos on UA-cam and read so many guides on various websites. ParadoxCubing finally made cfop and f2l make sense. First time I ever picked up a cube and I didn't have a clue what others were trying to explain in videos. But I solved it no problem following ParadoxCubing. Now I just need to start learning algorithms.
Out of all the f2l videos I watched, this approach was by far my favorite. Easy to follow
Thanks a lot! I was averaging about 40-45 seconds and you brought it down to 32 seconds! This is a superb video as many other videos made me think I'll stick with the Beginners Method but you made me think differently ! Thanks SOOOOO much for your guidance during F2L 😀😃😄
After hours of searching F2L videos this one is... I can't describe how useful this video was.Thank you so much bro! Respect!! 👊🏻
I literally watched 10 other tutorials before stumbling on yours, and I have finally got it! Thanks

"the 70 different cases into 5 simple ones"
you earned yourself a sub bro
How about a 6th case where the white is on top and the colors are reversed in one piece?
Example:
The case you showed us but instead red in front and blue in right (corner), the red will be on right and the blue on front.
The edge piece will remain unchanged (red on top, blue on left).
It’s just the same thing you know
I looked at many other videos on F2L, and they were all too complicated for me, however this video explains every possible scenario in simple terms, enabling me to learn this for the first time! Liked and subscribed.
I watched so any f2l videos, and i didnt understand any of them. this by far, is the clearest, easiest, and best explained tutorial.
holy, you dont know how thankful I am for this blessing of a video. saved me countless frustrated hours of clueless rapid cube spinning
You’ve detailed the video with the beginner in mind so well. You must have put a lot of thought into this to be able to communicate and teach as effectively as you have, you have a high level of sophistication to have made something like this. I can tell you put a lot of work into the video and must have put in considerable effort. Thank you so much
Thank you for the kind words of support!
Hi, i wanna ask, like i did the methods , but when i wanna match the two squares and put them in between the two centers, the other matching pair gets messed up , like i solved 3 corners ,the last one isnt working but with missing the other one beside it...*hope u got what i meant😅*...
( he is telling the methods one by one, but not actually solving them all togther, so that's made me lost on how to keep the one i solved without unsolving them when i start another one)
Thank you so much. The other f2l vids i saw were very confusing but this video was very helpful and direct… this deserves more views!!
Ngl I watched JPerms video and was lost. I watch your video and i’m solving the cube with f2l now. Thank you so much.
This is the best F2L tutorial I have ever seen. Thank you
Thank you so much. This is the first and only F2L tutorial I have found that I can follow and understand.
I watched three different videos except for you and you are the only who i understood how to do F2L. Thank you 💖
I take my words back
i first gave up and then i wanted to learn F2l so bad i watched ur full vid and understood everything,
I love ur videos
😊😊
A superb f2l tutorial i have ever seen. Thank u. I took notes from this vid and this really helped me a lot
When I first decided to start learning F2L I looked it up on google and got a page with 40+ algorithms it took me about an hour to burn out on that. Watching this video I can intuitively solve F2L with no algorithms. Great content, thank you.
I had to watch several different videos to get this. It’s not hard once you get it, but it’s hard to teach. This video was the most helpful one I watched.
I’ve been watching a lot of tutorials and you explain things very well. Thank you
Best beginner F2L tutorial on UA-cam! Thank you 🙏
I had to re-watch J Perms video many times to understand but I am able to understand yours very easily.
Thanks for this video.
This is the best F2L tutorial on UA-cam because it shows 5 cases and weather if your situation fits the cases. (also other F2L tutorials go too fast and don't go over everything)
You just earned a sub bro, good job man, just 5 simple things no “If you have this here you have to get it out” and you show us how to get stuff around instead of just telling us what to do, you give an examples. Thank you again.
Thanks! I tried watching other videos to learn F2L and I just couldn't understand them, and it really frustrated me. I found your video and now I just solved my first F2L! Going to keep following along with this video until I learn to do it without it!
Brilliant tutorial, never seen a more helpful vid for F2L, great teaching!
Got it down consistently in less than 40mins of watching+trying :D
Great video. Been through multiple videos/tutorials for beginner F2L and this is first one I found easy to follow!
Thank you! This is the first video i found that explains at a true beginner level.
thank you so much
i’ve been trying to learn f2l for ages and you dont know how much this helped
Best F2L for beginners video I've seen yet. I've gotten about as fast as I feel I can using strictly beginners method, fastest timed solve at about 42 seconds but sure i've gotten a few faster solves untimed. While a lot of the steps came intuitively to me (You really went above and beyond in the "F2L for dummies" aspect), splitting it up into 5 cases, especially the mirrored ones, really helped me conceptualize everything in a very digestible way and now I feel ready to try only using F2L in my solves.
I just watch your old video it was like with hell r u doing and this one is like as easy as hell.
Its a big improvement
I've been watching other tutorials and struggling, this finally made me get it, thank you so much.
Wow amazing tutorial Even
i saw in tamil cfop f2l but i cant understand you are unbelievable ❤❤❤
Finally a good and full tutorial! Thanks and keep it going!!
