The Neo Geo hardware aged so gracefully. With 2D graphics, it was even able to keep up with the 32bit generation and Last Blade really showed this off. Loved the review!
Thanks Lu! The hardware was a marvel, especially in the animation department. Games like this, Art of Fighting 3, and Mark of the Wolves, really showed what could be done and highlighted the struggles of contemporary consoles to accurately replicate such games.
I own both 1 and 2 and I have to say, there is something really special about 1 in regards to its presentation, music and simplicity... maybe my favorite Neo game 🇯🇵
An excellent review as always kind sir. Probably the quintessential review that anyone should watch if they want to play this game for the first time. I've actually never played any of the last blade games and as of right now I only own the last blade 2 for the dreamcast. At least the fact that the original last blade game is available on a lot of current game systems is a blessing for those that want to play the game for the first time, myself included.

PS2 Last Blade Collection, and PS1 Last Blade are the versions I play for my consoles. PS1 version's not too bad, and the PS2 release of both games, while not perfect, are satisfactory.
@@NeoTurboManiac78 The only complaint about it I have is how easy it is to get through the PS1 version, I can usually 1CC it with Akari, while the PS2 version, like the arcade eats me alive. But enjoyable port.
@@Bloodreign1I noticed that with some of the home ports. I can breeze through the Saturn port of Real Bout Fatal Fury, but get my butt kicked in the arcade version. Certain match ups in The Last Blade can be pain. I'm looking at you Lee Rekka.

The stages are done very well I do get distracted by the backgrounds at times and Bob Ross good call 👍 The noise and the background noise is done very well great amount of charaters and a game in some cases similar to Samurai Shodown but certainly good enough to stand on its own feet there is little wrong with the game but no game is perfect it is one hell of a fighting game and this ins one good review nicely shared 👍
Oh wow! The Last Blade. What a fantastic and highly detailed this game is for sure Neo. I remember seeing this for the first time and was truly amazed on what this game has to offer despite the Neo-Geo being 7 years old and falling behind the competition in which the other major video game companies had to offer to the public. I love both games, but for some reason I gravitate towards the original Last Blade. Looking at it today shows how the graphics aged like fine wine, not like some of the 3D games that were being pushed at the time. Fantastic review.
Thanks bro! It's true that games like this, show that 2D games have a longer shelf life than some of their 3D contemporaries. I lean towards part one for three reasons: more backgrounds (15 vs. 10), the free-form style for the Speed combo, and the difficulty. Part 2 gets tough by the third match.
