    How many times have you seen someone ask what belt length they need because they removed something, changed something, etc.? I probably see it about three times per week. I came upon that myself for the WideFox build. I had removed the smog pump, and the power steering pump was relocated where the air conditioning compressor was. This video shows how to measure for that belt length and make it easy to simply buy what you need instead of chasing internet lore and making multiple trips to the parts store.

    HUGE help! I was going to use a string, but the tape/marking idea is brilliant. And then I didn’t know if I should add anything (was concerned that the string goes down into the ribs, but that doesn’t seem to have been a problem). Thank you!!!!

    worth mentioning that the number under the one you read off is a euro standard. ex 6pk1815 means it's a 6 rib, pk is rib section or belt type, and 1815 is length in mm

    Where do you get the custom belts made? I need a custom fan belt for an old tractor (current belt standard sizes don’t fit).

      Every belt was bought locally at Auto Zone or ordered through Rock Auto. They are just standard sizes.

    How do I find that range? I'm using this for a complete different engine but can't find that range indicator. Thanks for any help. It's a jeep wrangler 3.8l btw

    • @BasinMotorsports
      @BasinMotorsports  2 роки тому

      The tensioner should have a fully on and fully off position. Remove the belt, which will take all the tension off. Take a marker or paint pen and make a mark on the piece that moves and a part that doesn't. Use a wrench or socket and fully move the tensioner to maximum the other way. Mark there also on the part that doesn't move (like the housing). Now you can see the full on / of range of rotation. Your tensioner ideally will stay between a little less than each mark.

    Dude I’m struggling with this belt thing on the 5.3 vortex engine supposedly it’s a 923k6 but that’s just a little too small and then they have me a 930k6 but now with this video ima ask them to ring me out between 923 and 930

    I know what size I need but don't see it anywhere. I need 96.2-96.5 inch 7 rib belt. I wanted a green fleet runner, but I don't even see it in the black color. I'm adding a high output alternator and need the belt a half inch shorter than normal.

    • @BasinMotorsports
      @BasinMotorsports  2 роки тому

      Is it the length or the rib count causing the issue finding one? Can you find the right length in 6 or 8 rib? The 7 rib sounds odd to me. I have in my mind they are usually even numbers.

    • @drjd2real
      @drjd2real 2 роки тому

      @@BasinMotorsports It is both. I might have better luck with a black belt? I found the right length of the green FLEETRUNNER, but will have to cut off 5 ribs. Acdelco has a green 8 rib that is an inch shorter, The FLEETRUNNER is a half inch shorter? I have an Infiniti suv and everything is a weird size. I have a 370 alt on the way.

    The piece of string that i got the measurement for, was 43.5 inches when flat, how do I change that to belt size?

    • @BasinMotorsports
      @BasinMotorsports  4 роки тому

      A 425K6 (the 6 indicates the number of ribs) is 43.25" and a 430K6 is 43.75". It's usually a little easier to buy a bigger size, but any auto store or online store can cross reference the xxxK6 into any brand part number.
