Thanks Ma! I'm a new subscriber because I just happened to come across your channel. You are a Mother to all of us. Thank you for sharing your recipes step by step. I love it that there's no wastage!!!. Thank you Ma. I'm going to try your recipes. God bless you and keep you well and safe 🙏
Hi. Most people I know cook it this way but fish roes, like most other seafood is quick cooking. So I skip the boiling/steaming part of it. I marinate it, handling it very gently of course, flash fry in hot oil to seal the outside and add to already simmering chutney. This keeps the roes moist and tender. Nothing wrong with your recipe, just offering an alternate way. Thanks for a trip down memory lane with all your cooking. Takes one back to mum's kitchen and the good old days. Too much fast foods and unhealthy eating, these days. Take care.
Hi Ma Iv been making this the same way and it's the best, I also use a little of Gorimas fish and prawn paste in the chutney, well done MA looks delicious
Yummy dish Maa!...I cook mine very much like yours...but I steam fish roe with fresh lemon leaves...and use fresh lemons from garden...no marg...little oil..its yummy...my favourite ..thank you Maa
@@GaithreeDeviLuckan Thank you so much for quick response! I was just curious to know the region. I loved the recipe and will definitely try it out. Thank you!
I am definitely buying, and will cook fish roll, you were perfect with everything, my mom sprinkle cake flour like you did with the pepper, I'm so fascinated, I can do this, please tell me what what color must the fish roll be when buying, because I saw it and it was smelling very bad, oh you really make me think of my mom
The roe can com in many different colours depending on the fish the roe is sourced from. They can vary from very light almost white all the way to bright orange. Best is to fond a good fish shop and one you can trust to sell you only the freshest roe.

Wonderful recipe! I will definitely try it. This recipe belongs to which region?
We are in South Africa. Not sure the recipe comes from any specific region but it may

Making this today auntie. Quick question...why strain the oil? Can't we use the same oil as is for chutney
Sorry for the late response. The loose fish eggs in the oil will burn and give a bitter taste if left unstrained.
Is this fish eggs? I love this I was about 11 years old since I last ate it
Yes the fish roe is the egg sack of the fish.
You are amazing 🤩
Thank you 🙏🏼
How to cook mealmealroti
Hi there, here is the video of the mealie meal roti.
ua-cam.com/video/gt9O1m1jgb0/v-deo.html
We ate it with bread
What is fish roe?
The eggs of the fish that can be sometimes found inside the fishes stomach.
@@GaithreeDeviLuckan oh wow, I did not know that. Thank you
Why do u use soy sauce?
I like the soy sauce flavour with fish dishes. It give it a certain tanginess.
