Junes content is honestly good for my mental health, I feel like I'm offered a hug every time there's a new video
Same!
haha same take 2! I love her style so much, she's so witty and so down to earth. lovely person from whom I can learn so much!
Yes!! Glad I’m not alone.
Same ❤❤❤🤗
Definitely! She's so sweet & gentle!
The title could say June cooks mud and I'll tune in every time...she's amazing
Same here !!! Love watching her in general !! 👍👍
*June drops a video- instant gratification.
Super fun keep them coming.
There's a UA-camr that does weird food, and she does that
I agree completely, and June makes me want to try cooking it too
YES all day
Update: I waited until the smaller fruits were soft (and ripe?) and tasted it! It was...fine? But there was a chalkiness to my fruits that I wasn't a big fan of. I ended up blending it with yogurt, citrus zests, and some sweetener and freezing it until it was semi-hardened for a cool summer treat. It almost tasted like an orange creamsicle!
A truly ripe mamey sapote is creamy and sweet. Is very common in milkshake form.
In Indonesia we have a similar fruit like this, but a lot smaller, it is called "Sawo"...I don't like it though because of the creaminess is too much, but maybe you'll manage to try "Sawo" instead of Mamay since Sawo a lot smaller and will ripe a lot faster.
This is purely a guess based on my experience with buying tropical fruits in Canada. Alot of these fruits are picked way too early so they survive the long transport by ship so sometimes they don't ripe properly. The starch doesn't developed into sugar, which makes them remain sort of starchy.
in philippines we call it chico but they are smaller than what you have. it taste sweet and have a sandy texture.
Fruits in america sometimes taste odd because they ripen off the vine :( if you ever go to the Caribbean taste one, you will be glad you did
It’s funny, I have watched June’s episodes from before COVID when she is making more traditional dishes but the episodes she has made post COVID where she is in her own home and using funky or exotic ingredients are much more entertaining and enjoyable, more of this-so interesting!
After the week of Aaron’s diet, I will roll my eyes every time he says something is too sweet.
AHHAAHAAHHAAHHAHAHAHA
Absolutely!
Ha! Too right!
She deserves a better man than Aaron. He doesn’t deserve to be with June
@@jacklittlefield55 who are you or anyone else to make that call? what we see is an edited version of what they choose to put on camera. if june didn’t want his feedback, both compliments and critiques, she probably wouldn’t ask him to be videos.
I would watch June microwave a tv dinner.
We get these in Aruba and in Hispanic markets. The ripe ones are creamy with a pudding texture and sweet like brown sugar. Give it a try again but with a ripe one
Cunta Bai! Sxm ta aki.
Omg! Love this fruit! But it was much smaller, ripe & sweet! Tried it once during my travels across rural pueblos of the DR visiting loved ones
Ripe zapote is heaven its extlemly creamy anf sweet with milk amd ice ... oh my lord
@@racheec2398 probably a different type of sapote
I would absolutely LOVE to see a "pantry staples" video-I want to know what condiments you can't live without, how you make your homemade ketchup, which spices & seasonings you always keep on hand, etc.
I’m going to start a playlist. Track 1 - Peanut Butter Poem. Track 2 - Mamey Meditation
I'm literally only here for June. She's the best!
In Trinidad we pronounce it as 'ma-mee see-pote'
And they grow everywhere, in every granny's yard lol. You definitely needed a ripe one though, they're much more sweet and smooth, almost ice cream tasting
Aaron's sock slide through the kitchen when you beckoned him for a taste test was too funny and uber relatable 🤣😂
I live in Mexico, so your fuzzy chayotes there may be different than what I get here. But the fuzzy ones in Mexico taste a lot like artichoke hearts. Very delicious. Also, mamay makes great ice cream. When they're ripe, they barely need any sugar.
Se only have UNfuzzy chayote here in Brazil, and they taste very bland. Se call them chuchu (Sechium edule )
@@mariapaulagl Yes. The smooth ones are pretty bland. The fuzzy ones are more seasonal, and I look forward to them every year.
I didn't know there were different kinds of chayote! i've only seen the non-fuzzy ones. I like them in soup!
Can you buy them unripe, then sit them on a counter to ripen for a few days?
@@stopcheatingconsumers9779 I don't know the answer to that. But they do keep really well for as long as a week or so.
As June narrates the experience sniffing the mamey I could basically close my eyes and pretend I'm listening to a guided meditation 😂 love these videos!
Give this woman her own daily show!!! June is the best! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Are you going to give these a shot ripe? So curious
I have had these many times before. Mmmm
Yes! Same question the whole time. Was hoping she’d flash forward to tasting them ripe. But still great video and good looking recipes. Yum! That sticky rice looked delish!
They're like chocolate milk ripe
@@veronicaruiz4938 Me too, I'm so mad. She could have used one unripe and let the others wait, they don't even take that long in a warm place.
To someone who often eats mamey. This is a great way of thinking out side of the box or out of the ordinary of how we eat it. Thank you June 🤍 for being spontaneous
I’m cuban and we usually eat Mamey as a smoothie (when red ripe) with sweetened condensed milk and ice :)
It’s funny that you kept calling it “, “bland”, when ripe zapote is extremely sweet and mushy and it has a very strong taste, you would definitely have to try it and see what you think then. You definitely made it look appealing here and I say that as someone who hates zapote .
This is one of my favorite fruits ever! It's soooo delicious. In Guatemala we just call it "zapote". "Mamey is actually a completely different fruit. When it is ripe, it's soooo creamy and sweet! Please try it when it's ripe, it's a complete different experience.
More June-Aaron Kitchen Foodie happiness please!
just discovered june’s videos a week ago and here i am being obsessed with her videos because she’s a freaking genius 😔✌️
When ripe these are soooo creamy, sweet and delicious it’s like a baked sweet potato but sweeter, deeper , vanilla, caramel notes. Maybe Ive had a different variety tho???😂😂
You didn't. I hope she tries them ripe. They are insanely good. Especially as an ice cream or liquido.
Yes when Ripe they are creamy and sweet. June took the Mamey to a different level that I try and experiment with Mamey.👍😊
I think they taste like brown sugar! it feels like dessert lol
Yes they are heaven i make juice all the time with them ...
I’m here only for june ... she single handedly got me thru quarantine
its really cute the way aaron is so excited for june’s cooking 🥺
We have a small version of this fruit in Indonesia, it called "Sawo".. when it ripe it taste super sweet juicy and fragrant
YOU HAVE TO GET A RIPE ONE AND MAKE A MILKSHAKE 😭
I know!! Mamey milkshake is heaven
The milkshake and/or ice cream route is the way to go. Mmmm.
Rt!!
Yesss and a little condensed milk que rico
I love watching your vids, June. You're so adventurous and take chances with foods you're not familiar with. This has been the best pandemic programming. It's so awesome to watch. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
More June videos please! Can we get Aaron to eat June's diet for a week? Spending $30 for the week's worth of food from Trader Joe's? June is so relaxing, I love watching her talk and enunciate her words! It's like asmr ❤❤❤
Aaron made up for all his past stankiness with that sprint and slide into the kitchen! 🤣🤣
In our country Bangladesh, these fruits comes in size of passion fruits. We eat it ripe and it's soooo delicious. It has this sandy texture and the taste is kind of unique. It's pretty popular here and goes by the name "sofeda" . The seeds look the same tooo but just 20 times smaller in size.
In India it goes by sapotey and yes the Tate is a but creamy and sandy but sweet
The variety in Bangladesh (sofeda) is the “sapodilla” which is a bit different :)
@@jobidaashiek2563 our cultures are more alike than different it's nice to know about all this 😍😂
My local Mexican ice cream shop sells mamey flavored ice cream. I’ll have to try that next time.
PS - not sure if I can trust Aaron’s ratings on your food after seeing what he eats in your previous video 😂😂😂
Did you try it?
Ooooh. Those are huge! In the Philippines, we call those CHICO. Those are one of my favorite fruits, thanks to my mother. They are delicious when they are ripe. super sweet 😋
exactly , I thought it was just like a giant chico 😅
This is a different fruit but in thr same family as a chico 😀
Thank you! I saw in a few food shows about sapote! I wondered if it’s the same as our South East Asian ciku!
They ate related but not the same fruit
my filipino fammmmmm
This video is so simple yet such a masterpiece
YAYYY ANOTHER JUNE VIDEO!!!! :D
Love the delish videos with June & Aaron trying these different things !! Exciting & love watching her work her magic 👌
In Dominican Republic, It's called Sapote. My favorite smoothie, very sweet
😋🤤 I Believe They Also Put it in Habichuela Con Dulce ✨✨👌🏼😋😋😋
Zapote is delish
@@bebita113 mmm I don't actually think we do at all. But you can make hair masks with the seed lol
Loooved this fruit when I was in DR.
- tecture of your baked version seems like boiled/baked yucca - mmm
Nelly Benitez they put batata which is like sweet potatoe
June!!!! So fun to watch her she is hilariously real
I can't get enough June content; she's the cooking maven I can actually relate to :) Make a video on how you make your homemade ketchup please!
I love watching June cook! I've watched all of her episodes and wish there were more.
Absolutely trying ALL of those!!!
Love you June, thank you for making these videos, they've been really uplifting to me✌️❤️✨
Now we need an episode when the fruit are ripe
I am very much enjoying these segments - thanks for doing them!!
I am from India and these are my favorite! I just love how sweet they are, but not the sweet that gives you chills - just the right amount
YES! So glad to see this. ❤️❤️❤️
Oh yummm, I have to find these!! And I am totally stoked over another June episode 👍😉🤣
June is AWESOME!!!! Wow, that short guided meditation was really good.
omg we have this fruit in vietnam, a lot smaller (like palm size) and I've never seen them this big???
BTW pro tip from my mum, they ripen faster if you bury them in rice apparently (just put them in your rice container or something!!)
We have the same thing in India and literally call it sapota. It's delicious when ripe and heaven in milkshake.also yes we too put in rice bag if the market bought ones are bit hard. 😄
thank you so much, for your videos, they are pure joy!
She is such a treasure!!!!! 💜💜💜💜🧡. Completely genuine and unapologetically herself.
I get so excited when I see a new one of your videos
I love watching your home videos the most. I look forward to your new vids.
June, you are so inspiring!! Love that you worked with unripened fruit. You make the best out of every situation no matter what. Love love love you!!! 💗
I loved the description of the smell of the fruit!! I felt so lulled into a light nap in the forest.

the small ones are super sweet when they’re ripe!! i love them
Off to watch!
June is a superstar
June is saving my quarantine! Another perfect video from Queen 👑 June
Where I'm from in the Caribbean, we call it Mamee apple. And they're only about 4 inches long and more round. When they're ready and ripe they fall from the tree. Then, they're softer and taste delicious, it's like a combination of apple, banana, naseberry, peach and pineapple in taste. My grandmother had a tree in her backyard in the country, and as a child I really looked forward to eating Mamee apple there (the city seemed to not have any Mamee apples or the trees ) We just ate it as a special fruit, but I remember my grandmother saying that you could blend it to make juice. and also make jam with it But I really love and appreciate what you did with the 'turn'/unripe fruit ! That was so creative and genius! Now I know what to do with unripe fruits that heavy winds blew off the tree. Thanks!
"Rosemary always makes me feel pretty. " 😂👌🏾
I have been watching many of June’s videos for the past few days, and by this episode, I had to stop and leave a comment to say, June is a delight! I love her approach to food and cooking, so whimsically creative and passionate. She always has fun in the kitchen, and makes sure to take us on this journey with her ❤️ I have never seen anyone treating the ingredients the way she does, full of love, curiosity, and so very resourceful.
June is a real treasure! I hope Delish is treating you right June!!!
I love her exquisite descriptions of what things smell of!
Jungle meditation with June was a surprising bonus. Also, I want someone to look at me the way June looks at her gorgeous creation at 9:45.
Wonderful adventure again June. Thank you so much for all your creativity and humor.
I love June videos!!!
I love your sandals and all your videos June!!! You are a magician in the kitchen!!!❤❤❤

I was waiting for thiiisssss
Plz stay just the way you are....even after lockdown ends....plzzzz...this sassy i-dont-care attitude is looovvveeeee💜💜💜
Thank you for trying new foods! My son and I already love watching your videos, you have a calm voice and presence while still being excited and passionate about what you are doing. The perfect combo to make a 6 year old sit still and watch your videos all the way through! Your influence as a UA-cam personality on him is so awesome as I encourage him to try new foods and textures. Though, he is not going to let me off the hook to bake the Yule log cake! Thank you for adjusting to current circumstances and sharing your cooking adventures from home, we are really enjoying them.
:))) so happy to hear this!!
Aw. June & Aaron trying new things makes my day. Now I want to try it too.
More June videos!! She’s the best !!!!!!
I love her so much!
We want more of June!!! 😁😁😁
I love June so much, she is never afraid to experiment.
I LOVE June!!
They are best ripped sweet and delicious!!
When they are green we usually make them into a smoothie or icecream.
I am glad to see new recipes!
I would pay to sit in a Mediation Class and listen to your relaxing voice June! Your cooking is so therapeutic for me as well ☺
I love these unfamiliar food videos, keep them coming!
These videos make me more likely to take a chance on those produce items I have no experience with, June makes everything seem like a success in cooking, even when things don't turn out perfectly, this outlook helps me take chances, I hope there is more content like this Delish.
Yaayyy!!! More June😍
June, I loved your voice when you were describing the smell of mamey sapote 😊 It would be perefect if you created a podcast someday 😍✨
Bless your heart, I live in the south, a mango is considered exotic here.
I need more 1-2 hours of June’s video please
I love June!!
You can use mamey to make a fresh water aka Agua Fresca. That is what is commonly used for. Love it June! You are life during this 2020 mood.
I love it June when you are on Delish. You are much more imaginative than I am. In my defense, because you live in NYC you have a huge variety of fruit unknown to most of us to experiment with.
