The beautiful thing about UA-cam is that you can watch a channel and be tossed around automatically to other channels that are similar and find the most incredible channels! The perk to falling in to a channel late is that like a great series, you can binge watch! Well, I'm binging on you're amazing creations! So great!
June, I love you. Each one of your videos makes me forget time completely. You have that "everything's gonna be okay"-attitude. You create great things with the little things you have on hand. It's so inspiring. Keep it up and never change!
I used to hate cinnamon, the smell made me gag. Then one day i woke up and MAGIC it wasn't so repulsive anymore and i started enjoying dishes with it. First it was sweets, then savory dishes and teas. I'm glad i can appreciate it now, it's such a comforting flavor. Warm and cozy.
@@PandaBear62573 I think I was during the summer. Maybe just not during a heat wave. I remember on a live, she asked for recipes with cinnamon a couple weeks ago. Maybe I’m wrong 🤷♀️
I put a cinnamon stick in to simmer with my lamb soup and stew, even when all the other spices and ingredients are traditionally "Western" (i.e. garlic, onion, carrots, potatoes, etc.). It is also a common ingredient in Moroccan savoury dishes. It is transformative.
Thanks June and team! I love watching your content so much. I literally said I hope June has a new video earlier today. I’m excited to make spiced rice now :)
I use cinnamon in several savory and sweet recipes. I also use it in my "fire cider" for "medicinal" uses. And I was so excited to see you also put it in your oatmeal as I do... but, have you ever tried adding a spoon or two of peanut butter in your breakfast oatmeal with your fruit and cinnamon?
Fun fact: Cinnamon and Cassia were known in European medieval cooking (including savoury dishes) from at least the 12th century on, likely even sooner. Usage varied after the Renaissance but you can still find it in many traditional savoury dishes especially of southern Europe.
I'm always blown away by June's complex dish, I mean they are simple but she always dial the notch up with ingredients just like what she did with the oats.
I always put cinnamon in my chili! didn't know that wasn't standard, it's essential I think!! also delicious to add cinnamon (with other spices of course) to coucous, or with some cumin on roasted chickpeas
Cinnamon is a great all purpose spice. I keep powdered ceylon for very delicate applications like homemade speculoos and cassia sticks for stuff like beef stew (a mainstay in mom's beef stew recipe).
Wow, June! You cut that sweet potato like some kind of human mandoline! I have made savory (rosemary, garlic, paprika) roasted sweet potatoes, but will definitely be trying your cinnamon ones.
I had some Moroccan food (Chicken Bastilla) years ago, that was my first experience with cinnamon as a savory component. Amazing! Then I recently got some Vietnamese cinnamon from King Arthur Flour and WHOA. There really is a difference between cinnamons. Thanks for this video - I hope more people try putting "unconventional" (to them) spices in dishes from it.
Something about cinnamon triggers my gag reflex. I can handle it okay in small doses like Pillsbury cinnamon rolls where it get drowned out by sugar, otherwise no. I even have to hold my breath when entering craft stores during the holiday season because they always blast you with those cinnamon scents as you walk in the door. But I wonder if I tried true cinnamon (I'm assuming I've only had cassia up until now) if it would be any different.
my parents (theyre from kerala in south india) often cook rice with a stick of cinnamon in it just like june showed in the video and its really delicious. they usually make it like that when cooking biryani but a cinnamon stick can spruce up even plain white rice and make it feel super fancy and restaurant quality lol
I got so happy when you talked about Cincinnati Chili. i used to br a Skyline Chili fan but now I’m a Gold Star Chili fan. Oh by the way, i live in Cincinnati!!!
JUNE!!!!! YAY!! I have missed you so much. I love cinnamon. I can only have ground or stick cinnamon but cinnamon oil i can't. So, anything like gum or candy or actual oil flavored with hot cinnamon oil will actually put blisters in my mouth. Is that the same as what you were using?
Hi June I made the cinnamon chicken 🍗 recipe. Chris liked it but I know it would have been better with the sugar. I left it out because he’s a diabetic. Thanks for sharing your recipes!!!!!
Btw, if you cannot eat sugar, you can do kinda of an Apple jam with cinnamon: just peel the apples, cut them thinly, add a bit of water (not too much) and add 2-3 sticks of cinnamon. The apples will be kinda like mashed potatos and the cinnamon, surprisingly, adds sweetness. Oh, and the apples probably shouldn't be too hard and sour, so many not granny smith
Hi June!!! I have two request!!! #1 A budget low histamine diet. I have Mast Cell Activation syndrome and have a hard time making things delicious. By the way, I am allergic to turmeric. #2 request would be eating health on a budget in a college dorm. My daughter is in her first year of College at Missouri State University. She is having a hard time eating healthy on a budget. She has a fridge and microwave. There is a common kitchen that she never uses because who wants to check out pans like a library book?
Sitting here drinking a cup of coffee mixed with fresh ground cinnamon (Ceylon); I grind a partial stick of cinnamon with my beans. Been doing it for years, so I am wondering which cinnamon varietal helps lower blood sugar?
What spice do you want June to tackle next? 👇
Cumin !!
All of them, one by one! Love June :)
@@laureblau1241 came here to say this!
Cardamom. Cardamom. Cardamom.
Cardamom or ginger!
June's my favorite spice girl.

You are definitely my favorite youtube chef! You seem to cook intuitively yet you know exactly what you are doing! You are inspiring!
Exactly !!
It’s year 3 of the plague, and watching June is the only thing that gives me peace ❤️❤️❤️

Who knew June's oven still worked with only one pan in it?!? 🤯
😂
June, I love you. Each one of your videos makes me forget time completely. You have that "everything's gonna be okay"-attitude. You create great things with the little things you have on hand. It's so inspiring.
Keep it up and never change!
I would love you to do all spice. Ps love watching you, you've inspired a lot of experimental cooking in our home, keep doing the show.
250 species of cinnamon? Now that's something new I learned today.🤔
I used to hate cinnamon, the smell made me gag.

I'm glad i can appreciate it now, it's such a comforting flavor. Warm and cozy.
I’ve been putting cinnamon and chocolate into my chili for years. Would love to see a video on curry blends or graham masala
Same here. Cinnamon, cocoa powder AND a bit of instant espresso powder as well in my chili... plus the usual chipotle and other spices...
Cumin please! It would be cool to see it showcased in different cuisines!
I know this was filmed a while ago, but your sweater gives me big fall vibes and i'm here for it! :P
@@justkeepsimming I think they had Fred at that time, probably just moved the plate for filming.
@@justkeepsimming Nice to see I wasn't the only one who was wondering where Fred's stuff was. =)
Yeah there is no way she filmed in her non air conditioned kitchen in NYC in the summer wearing a sweater. She'd be melting in sweat.
@@PandaBear62573 I think I was during the summer. Maybe just not during a heat wave. I remember on a live, she asked for recipes with cinnamon a couple weeks ago. Maybe I’m wrong 🤷♀️
I swear my daughter had this exact sweater from Lands' End when she was little. I should find a picture and compare.
Oh my lordy chicken rice drool... All before breakfast...clever foxy lady xxx
Greek tomato sauce is my favorite. We used to fight over who got to eat the soften cinnamon sticks that simmered in it for hours.
Yes! Queen June is back
👑
As someone from Cincinnati it was so nice to see our chili featured. I want to try that cinnamon chicken dish.
June's narrative and description is second to none!!! Loved this!!

Pretty sure in her first budget eats video, she has oats with PB.

I always use some cinnamon (not powder) in curries because it adds to the aroma.
